Excellent prduct
I refrigerated the jar for an hour, then filled it with ice cream and topped the ice cream with chocolate syrup. Four hours later my husband ate this treat and his complaint was that the chocolate syrup was frozen! Excellent temperature-preserving food jar, sturdy and good quality. Perhaps a note on the Japanese attitude toward Americans; all the warning labels on the jar were in Japanese characters except one; it was in English only and warned users to not pre-heat the jar (stainless steel) in a microwave oven.

Perfect food jar
You can never go wrong with a Zojirushi product and their food jar is no different! Keeps food piping hot (I do put warm water in it first to pre-heat) for hours and hours and doesn't leak.

Great product.
These containers really keep the food warm. Made lunch for the kiddos and packed them at 6AM. By their lunch hour the food is still hot, six hours later.

Backpacking meals rehydrate perfectly!
I needed something a littler larger than my 12oz food flask for a 10-day back country hunt trip where all our food was dehydrated due to weight restrictions. My meals included peas, carrots, noodles, chicken, etc. When rehydrating those foods in an open container, they don't ever fully rehydrate. Put the dry food in this container, add boiling water, put the lid on and walk away for 30 minutes and you will have fully rehydrated meals - it was a great comfort at the end of a long day of carrying a heavy pack around. One evening we got back to camp late and I only ate 1/2 my meal before going to bed. The next morning (7 hours later), I opened my container and my food was still warmer than "room temp" for breakfast. That night temperatures dropped to the upper 30s and I was in a tent, so this jar did all the work of keeping my food warm. I used this twice a day for 10 days and am very happy with it. Others were using mylar bags and were not getting fully rehydrated meals and had to eat quickly to have a warm meal. This jar was well worth the cost and weight.

Lid retains food odor
I love this thermos for its perfect size (holds a full can of soup with some room to spare) and its shape (easy to clean inside). It does not leak and it keeps food warm. I am disappointed by how strongly the lid components retain food odors. Even if I take the whole lid apart and soak the parts in vinegar and dish soap, they still smell like the soup I had in the thermos. I can still recommend the thermos for its functionality, I just wish the lid materials didn’t absorb odor. I’m a little concerned about the longevity of the lid gasket since I remove it for cleaning each time, but too soon to evaluate.

Great, but not worth the money
I've become somewhat obsessed with insulated food jars over the past few weeks. I have no idea why. This is my 6th food jar, and all have been different brands. Most have been around 24oz, while one was 18 oz, and then this one, which is 17. So one thing I do notice is this jar feels and looks higher quality than my other jars. Not substantially so, because I think the Maxso and the Stanley are close, but this thing looks super nice. The polished still interior is beautiful and the handle feels great. Like every other food jar I bought, I put boiling water in it and took temperature every hour or two (or eight, when I go to bed). Simply put, this performed better than the ~$15 Hydrapeak 18oz (Zojirushi was at 122 after 14 hours compared to 104 for the Hydrapeak) and slightly better than the Hydra Gear 25oz I bought from TJ Maxx for $11 (was at 118 after 14 hours) But it did worse than all my 24oz jars. The Maxso and Stanley did the best at around 140-145 at this point, and the DaCool was around 135. Crucially, all of these jars are cheaper than the Zojirushi. My recommendation is to purchase the Maxso. It was $5+ cheaper than the Zojirushi, looks and feels REALLY nice (very close in quality to the Zojirushi), has a built in bowl and spoon, and has much more capacity despite not being much physically bigger. This is a really nice food jar! That's why I gave it 5 stars. I just think it's worth spending less for something better.

Super hot food, but with a cost...
Fantastic for keeping food hot. Very clever gasket system and works very well. only problem is that food can get caught up and in behind the gasket in the lid, and be very difficult to clean out. I use this regularly to send in my son's school lunch, filled with soup. He's happy, as the soup is very hot (sometimes still too hot, amazingly) at lunchtime, and I was happy too, until I realized that biofilm was growing up in the impossible to reach portions of the lid. I always remove the gasket and valve and scrub and rinse with hot soapy water after every use, so did not expect this. But I think it's because liquid soup can get up there and is unreachable, and if there's any fat content (e.g., homemade chicken soup) the grease remains because it can't be physically scrubbed off and rinsing with hot soapy water isn't sufficient to completely clean it. So I give it a mild bleach treatment periodically and live with the fact that it's not perfectly clean, but I'd be much happier with a fully cleanable unit. Otherwise, a very high quality food storage device.

Top tier insulation.
I work at a ski resort and am out on the mountain all day. Today I filled this thermos with a can of tomato soup at 3am, at 1045am I opened it and it was still warm. My backpack was covered in ice and frost and everything was freezing cold. If you have a normal job in normal temps (it’s 22f here right now), and work normal hours this will serve you perfectly. Also if you’re a monster like me who enjoys condensed soups this will fit a full can of condensed Campbells soup. I’m so happy I bought this thermos, its build quality looks good as well but it’s too new for me to make any calls on that yet.

The product is fabulous. Small but perfectly formed. I've made porridge in here and it's Perfect. Pour hot water off the boil into the container and replace the lead, leave for 10 minutes. Then, discard the water and add porridge oats and top up with boiling water (the amount of water depends on personal preference). You may need to experiment, how thick or runny you like your porridge. Place the lid back onto the container and leave for about 45 minutes. You will have creamy, delicious and heart-warming porridge. No saucepan to wash, no single-serving pot to dispose off, no cooking or even microwaving. Honest , healthy food and your bit for the environment. What's not to like. i have not test tried the container for carrying soup in and the temperature the retained. However, the porridge was piping hot (that said, I usually consume the porridge within two hours of it being prepared).

At work I would never take food me even if I could heat it up using the microwave they had in the kitchen as it was hardly cleaned. I thought it would be a great idea to fatty the thermos and see if it actually worked. I cook salmon with a bit of rice and vegetables the night before work. I microwave it at home the morning just before leaving. I would say it keeps food hotter than warm but it’s not piping hot it’s just right.6 hours later.

Kids love it for school lunch. Keeps foor warm and does not leak. Very easy to clean, as all peices come apart. I usually hand wash it but it is dishawsher safe. It holds enough for hungry teenagers.
