Ford, with consulting support from 3M, has developed a unique powered-air purifying respirator (PAPR) for use in reducing exposure to airborne particles. This PAPR is designed to quickly aid care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing constant filtered airflow. The blower unit draws ambient air through its filter and supplies filtered air to the hoodtop via a breathing tube. Kit includes PAPR unit, breathing tube, hood, 2 rechargeable batteries and charger, belt, and air flow indicator. This product, when used as part of an approved respiratory protection system, helps protect against certain airborne contaminants. This respirator can help reduce inhalation exposures to certain airborne biological particles (e.g. viruses, mold, Bacillus anthracis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, SARS-CoV-2, etc.) but cannot eliminate exposure or the risk of contracting infection, illness or disease. This product is for occupational/workplace use only by U.S. care personnel (as defined in the 3/28/2020 FDA EUA or any subsequently issued or reissued applicable emergency use authorization).
