Great trolling motor. Spot lock function is fantastic.

Great gps rig for 20ft v-hull
This thing could tow by boat home. It will pull my 20ft center console back to the beginning of a track at 5 kts without a problem. It unfortunately does not make me a better fisherman but I guess thats on me.

Fantastic trolling motor
Very quiet motor. 24 volt version is much better than my previous 12 volt. Pushes harder and lasts longer. Paired it with lithium batteries and it's awesome out in the bay. I had minn kotas for years but am happy with the switch to Motorguide.

BEWARE
This troll motor works great when it works! We waited to set it up and the return window is expired now. When it runs it does great, however it only picks up the GPS signal half the time. So mostly it is useless.

All Trolling Motor Designers Makes Me Scratch My Head
Pros: 1. Good unit, lots of thrust. 2. Remote functions are good. 3. Anchor mode as observed is 2 feet in calm waters, 5 feet during tide change in California Delta ( I can't measure the water current). 4. $700+ cheaper than any similar Minn Kota models (this is huge). 5. Pre-made accessories to communicate with a chart plotter is readily available. Lowrance in particular. You can make a lot of hardware compatible if you're technician or an engineer, but even then, it's not worth it; too expensive, too many man-hours, and too much pain in the buttocks. Pre-made is the easy, cheap and easy way to go. Cons: 1. Cheap remote control. Not even close compared to Minn Kota. Don't even get me started with the lanyard. 2. We must hang the designer of the plastic parts. Why not just make the ramp decades solid since it absorbs a lot of shock? I would pay $50 more for this thing to be solid. When you unscrew the housing body, 3 pieces falls. 3. Too much stress on the cable harness. Nearly all trolling motor manufacturers have this problem. Have these guys ever heard of 90 degree connectors or fittings? I would give it 3 stars but compared to its competitors, this is still the best bang for your buck, so it's 4.3 stars. UPDATE: The propeller came loose and I lost the nut kit. I'm not putting this on Motor Guide, however, good luck looking for nut kit. Other manufacturers are easy to find the replacement kit.

Catch more fish
Moving from a 48” shaft to a 60”. These motorguide motors are super reliable and the anchor lock is a game changer. Where using an anchor in heavy or variable wind is impossible to fish the motorguide is a tool that can fish in any conditions.

Holds my position even in tough conditions
The position holding feature works great even in turbulent tidal eddy currents and strong winds. I went with bigger size than was listed for my boat, 80lb on a 16ft skiff.

Works great, poor quality.
After ordering one of these and receiving a damaged one i got a replacement and a seal failed on first use. When laying horizontally it started leaking rusty water all over the place. I've initiated yet another return and will try one more time, if it fails again i'll be going with minn kota. Purchase at own risk, Amazon customer service was very accommodating though. 1/5 Quality 5/5 performance.
