They both work great, easy to use and piping hot coffee for over 2-4 hours. I decided I needed a larger mug for leisurely weekend coffee, so I purchased the larger S3 Pro. 16 oz. I should add that I always brew directly into these cups to get the best quality from beans that I roast and grind myself. These mugs all just work, performing as advertised, and frankly exceeding my expectations from using other heating mugs. You don't need to worry about the electronics in these when washing, as the rating is IPX7, meaning they are waterproof to 3 feet for at least 30 minutes. Definitely recommend.

I've been using this for about a month now at work. I work in as tech at an art school, and am frequently called on to rush to one of the 8 or so buildings to fix things unexpectedly, so my solution was a smart mug or thermos - I've used thermos' before and they work great but are hard to clean without a dishwasher, and I wanted something I could leave at a specific temp if I needed to run out quickly without my coffee cooling off too much. This works almost perfectly for my purposes. Is it worth 100ish bucks? Probably not. Your coffee will stay hot for 8 hours or so in a thermos type container. But if you think it's cool, go for it. The software for android works, but it's kind of a hassle and was fidgety with setting specific temps and when I get to work I don't want to open an app and connect to BT just to drink my coffee. I found it easier to just hold the button under the mug down (AFTER adding coffee - it will auto shut down if no heat is detected, a feature I do like) which powers it on and will restore the mug to the temperature you had selected when you powered it down. I like that it remembers. Touch control is a bit skittish but works well, especially after I updated the firmware - which works via bluetooth in the app - it took me about 30 tries before it fully downloaded and installed. Maybe network interference. The settings are written in Centigrade, not Fahrenheit, which can be confusing for those unfamiliar. I found keeping the touch light button set to 55C (131F) was the perfect drinking temp. It goes up two more notches, up to 65C, which to me was a bit too hot. 55 or the next step up are the settings I find to be most comfortable for me. You can use the app to dial in a specific temp in theory but the notched touch setting works good enough. You can use the mug off the charger, but I keep it on my desk because I never really take it on walks. The charge time appears to be sufficient. The mug will shut off if it detects that there's nothing in mug to heat up (eventually), to protect the circuitry inside. It can be washed by hand quickly and easily. The metal with enamel coating is fine, but the handle came with a tiny chip in it (I highlighted the chip in the photo - it's blurry) small issue for me, considering an alternative Ember mug is about 50 bucks more than what I payed at the time of purchase, but paying 100 bucks for a fancy mug and the first thing I see is a tiny chip in it was a bit unsettling. Maybe I'm just unlucky. That said, the packaging was a near-Apple level experience, making me feel like it might be a massive waste if the mugs are still going to come chipped. I'm a critical person, but these things are very small when considering the value and performance, in my opnion. The handle of the mug is wide enough to hold comfortably, but has no "meat" to it due to probably trying to make is less heavy, but once you get used to it isn't a problem. It does this because the walls are not double insulated and the lid is not nearly as secure as my Yeti mug. The app will turn off the mug sometimes just when I’m switching from one app to another. It’s not stable. And when I say, the coffee goes cold, I mean it goes cold very fast. The only fix that I have is to keep the app on, and monitoring, the entire time I am drinking my coffee. It’s more of an inconvenience, but it *can* be a big inconvenience, especially when I am driving and using my phone as my GPS, and drinking coffee. The good thing is I can quickly reheat my coffee on the app. But again, it requires constant monitoring. I’m keeping the mug because I like the size and the convenience when I’m sitting at my desk and having hot coffee. I did not buy an Ember mug because of the price, but I am now considering buying one to see if this is an issue that I can avoid with them.

This is my favorite mug to take to work. I can make my coffee in the morning and with the self heating technology, my coffee stays hot the whole day. I got this on a Saturday and it would not turn on/off with the button on the bottom on Sunday. It has been returned, but I did get to use it 5 times and writing the review off of this. My star rating is not figured due to breaking as any electronic can break (although a $100 mug should be better built). Pros: *Using hot coffee at the start (never got to test/try heating up cold coffee in the mug) it lasted over 2 hrs each use at 55c. *It did keep my coffee at this temperature the entire time (I even did one beverage at 60c and it lasted over 2hrs and kept the liquid at this temperature as well the entire time). *Mug felt solid in my hand, made of good materials. Cons: *The app (it did not prompt me to share my contacts, etc. when I installed/used it) required me to give it my phone number or sign up via email (and it sent code, so you cannot skip this step). Its a mug, connect and work, I don't want to share my number/email with you and I don't want to be forced to do this either as its unnecessary other than they want your info. *The app stayed connected as long (as I opened it up and connected as soon as I powered on the mug) as it was open (I kept it open over 30 mins twice just to watch the temp). The instant the app was closed, it dropped connection and I was never able to reconnect other than the initial power on stage. *The power on/off button is at the bottom, on another of their products it's on the handle which proves it doesn't have to be where its at on the high end mug. When there is no coffee in the mug its fine, but once you have coffee in it, there is a problem if you need to access this. *While you can toggle between C/F, on both the mug and in the app where you adjust it, you can only pick selected spots (5 degrees Celsius increments), while this was "close" to my desired temp I should be able to pick any temp. *Saucer - I wound up putting it on my desk as later in the day, I like to have a cup of coffee that I will sip on for a long time (in the past when it got cold in my Yeti, I would pour it into a glass cup and microwave it, then back to the Yeti it went) so being able to keep it in the saucer where it could stay on/heating for longer than the battery would last was desirable, it was a bit too big on my desk (or beside my coffee maker). *Saucer & Mug - Not being wireless charging, there are 2 negatives about this, first it should be fast charging (come on, its usb-c connected with a supplied 110 charger) but even on a hundred dollar mug they didn't build this in. Secondly, while its not an issue with the mug, the charging points are prominent on the saucer and could easily short out or water/tea/coffee that may run down the side of the mug while drinking would pool in this area. *Capacity - While 14oz is much better than the earlier 10oz size, you still don't fill it to the rim (if your using the cap, which I would assume most do as you don't want to knock it over and spill out your coffee on your desk) you don't really have 14oz. A latte with 8oz of milk, once you froth the milk and add a double-shot espresso, it will not fit... All in all, if this was half the price and didn't break I could overlook the negatives and keep/use this mug, and was debating on keeping it at the price I paid. It breaking made it a super easy decision, back it went for a refund and not a replacement. This product could be so much better and once it gets there, I will get another, but we are not there yet.
