Took longer than expected but eventually got germination. Did not work for stratification indoors, only seeds I planted outside naturally.

Zero sprouts. I can grow plants from the grocery store, but not these seeds.

PawPaw seed needs stratification. I believe these were stratified since two of the two I planted sprouted. Also needs room for a deep tap root to shoot up a sprout leaves. One survived transplanting into a deep tree pot and is now 2.5" after 3 months from planting seed. To fruit they will need specific chill hours. Since this is a seed, we're not going to know how the final fruit taste like. Do you homework on Pawpaw varieties and best season to purchase and plant. I did not, but it will be fun either way! There some very interesting history and a great video on YT. Were in SoCal so its too warm and dry for this tree. But maybe by keeping it dwarfed and in the fridge for winter? Good luck!

Other than my own question about wintering the seeds, I have no opinion because the seeds have not been germinated.

With an already low chance of germination bc of how dry these pawpaw seeds were stored, the cracking is the nail on the coffin. EDIT after replacements arrived: Replacements just as dried out, but not cracked. Kept in the fridge in damp soil for 4 months from Sep-Dec (stratification) , transferred 6 seeds to small indoor pots in December. Kept soil moist under a 6 hour grow light and 2/6 seeds have sprouted. Considering for fruit you need at least 2 trees , not a great success rate. Upping my rating to 3/5 since something sprouted despite the conditions they were shipped in.

After vernalization, four of the seeds germinated. The plants are looking good. I look forward to pawpaws in a few years.

I used the paper towel method - like I've done with avocado seeds, and countless other types with all success rates, and not a single one of these Paw Paw seeds germinated. I've been trying to germinate them for 2 weeks now. I’ll give them another 2 weeks and update this review if they germinate. I've had terrible experiences with ALL seed suppliers on amazon and will never again buy seeds from any vendor through here. If you're questioning the method - I wrap them in a damp (not drenched) paper towel, put them in a ziplock bag but I don't zip it closed (needs to breath or mold can grow), they're kept in a cabinet above my toaster oven so it's a dark warm location. I check on them every other day or so to make sure it hasn't dried and and re-damped as needed until I see the tails sprouting out.

These seeds did not germinate, the seeds were almost definitely dead when they came. I followed instructions for germinating them to the letter and they didn't germinate or change or grow or do anything really. I would not purchase again or recommend doing so. Also i cannot get money back since the process of germinating (or in this case not germinating) takes longer than return period.
