For anyone who wants to know more about flowering plant families and see some stunning photographs of flowers, get this book. The author writes about 28 different flowering plant families. Reading about each one is like talking to a family member who knows all about the rest of the family ~ who belongs in the family, who belonged once before but has been cast out, their quirks, their foibles, all kinds of interesting tidbits. It's beautiful. I borrowed a library copy before ordering, so I knew what to expect. I am both an amateur artist and a lover of weeds, seeds, and cultivated beauty. Beautiful and unique pictures of the flowers
The pictures showed the anatomy of different flowers by families. The text supported the picture by discussing the characteristics of each family. Other members of the family were discussed in the text to illustrate the diversity within the family. This is one of those books which you can pick up and put down after enjoying the pictures then pick it up again to read the text of one family then another family. I really enjoyed this book. I like the scientifically correctness of this book. since I am a Horticulture PhD

Beautiful book marred by complete lack of photo info
A stunningly beautiful book with exceptionally well-written text. Unfortunately there is essentially no information whatsoever about techniques, equipment or thought process of the photographer. This seriously mars an otherwise wonderful book.

For flower-lovers as well as photographers
The flowers were photographed using focus stacking, so this book might be interesting not only for those who love gardens and flowers, but also for hobby or pro photographers involved with macro and plant photography. Focus stacking enables you to depict a three-dimensional object completely sharp front to back by taking several pictures, each with a slightly different focus, then synthesizing the shots into one picture using special software. The book represents state of the art focus stacking.

Buy the whole set...these are all stunning books! The photos are tremendous. Strongly recommended if you like photography, art, gardening, flowers or all of these!
