Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born

Cute and funny book on adoption!
This book is so cleverly written. The illustrations are great and I love finding all of the cute "extras" in the background on bottles, books, etc. It's a very sweet book describing the adoption process of this child. My husband and I recently adopted a newborn and we are going to use this book and others to read to him to tell him about how he came into our family- and to show how incredibly special he is!I read some reviews saying that this story is too type specific or not like their adoption story. I think that's what is fun about this book. You can compare similarities and differences between your story and the book. I let my nieces read this book before our son was born and they really enjoyed it. They are 6 and 11 years old. This helped them understand more of the adoption process as well and they laughed a lot throughout the book. Take the book for what it's worth- a sweet and funny story about a child being adopted...you'll probably never find a story that is exactly like your adoption story because no two adoptions are exactly alike. It's all-in-all a great read. It's a very cute and lighthearted book sure to make you laugh and cry.

An Amazing story for children of all ages!
I gave this book to my daughter 20 years ago. At first she didn't understand it she just liked it. Once she understood the significance of the story, she fell in love with it. I adopted her 23 years ago. I always wondered how I would tell her "Her" story. This book made it special and made her feel special. She later shared it with her classmates. I believe the early introduction to the story and the later understanding of it made her feel secure in who she was and how she came to be. Two thumbs up for author Jamie Lee Curtis and 5 Stars for Amazon and the books' seller for delivering in a timely manner a beautiful copy of this story. (Over the years I lost the original copy so I wanted to get another to place in my daughters' Hope Chest - yes there are some young ladies who still have Hope Chests...what is life without Hope or Dreams?

Perfect for talking about adoption
My 4 yo daughter’s therapist recommended we use this book to help tell her she was adopted. Although the situation was different, my daughter being adopted out of foster care, all of the important points of the story work regardless of the situation

Very cute
Very cute book. My son is three years old and since he was born, I have been on the lookout for books about adoption for him. His was a kinship adoption and while the story does not fit him to a T (which nothing will because every adoption is a different story), I was very interested in checking out this book.I am not 100% satisfied with the illustrations of the book, which is nothing against the artist but rather a personal preference. I am satsified with the book being able to help my child begin to understand about adoption and that families are not just those you share the same blood with. My son loves the book and especially loves the pictures of the baby. I just worry that the pages will tear easy because this isn't a board book and my son can be a bit rough. Overall, I am satisfied with this book.

A MOST TENDER AND BEAUTIFUL BOOK FOR ALL TO LOVE
This is one of the most tender, beautiful books you will ever read, even if you are not an "adopted" child. I sat down one afternoon at a Books a' Million store and leafed through this wonderful little book, enjoying the layout and it's amazing and colorful illustrations, then read every word, every line, every sentence with awe and tears in my eyes. Jamie Lee Curtis wrote this piece of wonder for her child and then decided to share it with the rest of the World, much to my enormous pleasure. I recently gave this book to a friend who is adopted and whose Mother had died. She called me after receiving and reading the book and said, in a small quiet voice, "Thank you so much! I love this book. It touched my very soul, my heart, and I cannot thank you enough. I love, I love this book."

One of the Best Books on Adoption
This is one of several children's books written by the actress Jamie Lee Curtis, and I think it is the one you should start with. It is tender, loving, and funny. Nearly everyone should be able to relate to either the parent or the child in the story.Fortunately, we discovered the audio version first. The Jamie Lee Curtis CD Audio Collection: Is There Really a Human Race?, When I Was Little, Tell Me About the Night I Was Born, Today I Feel Silly, Where ... Go?, I'm Gonna Like Me, It's Hard to Be Five The CD is a wonderful collection READ BY THE AUTHOR! You really get to meet another side of Jamie Lee, the mother side. It turns out that she is not only a very talented scary movie actress, but she can also channel the child in herself with her writing!

A very specific adoption story - read reviews
Very nice book without the weird religious overtones that a lot of adoption books have. Unfortunately I returned this book because I bought it for a friend and the mention of “because I couldn’t grow a baby of my own” (or something like that), felt a little too fresh for my friend who had a very traumatic miscarriage. It also tells the story of flying to meet the baby and it might not be applicable to many adoption stories.

Very sweet
I fell in love. My first time reading this book was at my previous job. I was a caregiver for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Some of them were adopted.I got this for my daughter. I'm adopted but she is not. Even though she's not adopted, I think it's just a wonderful book for her to learn from. It's just a sweet book.

Delicato e toccante
Una bellissima storia per raccontare il tema dell'adozione in modo delicato e sincero. Bellissimi i testi e bellissime le illustrazioni. Peccato che la traduzione italiana non sia disponibile.

I didn't know it's about adopted baby, still, girls enjoy listening, and if someone has adopted the baby, they kids would love it.
