I absolutely love these paints. I'm a beginner to watercolor painting and have tried a few other brands. None of them have impressed me more than these have. The colors are creamy, vibrant, and highly pigmented. I love how you have the option of removing either a small group of paints or removing the paints individually from the palette. They're definitely portable for traveling. It comes with a paint mixing palette that is removable from the lid. Two water brushes that I haven't tried out yet and a small sponge. It comes with a small pad of water color paper. I'm very impressed with the paper too. The paper is heavy textured which, allows the paint to go onto the paper flawlessly without spilling everywhere. The paper holds quite a bit of water too. So far, it hasn't warped or wrinkled. I definitely recommend these. For the price you get 48 vibrant colors, 2 watercolor brushes, a small pad of watercolor paper, 1 sponge, 1 mixing palette, and the container that holds everything inside minus the of paper.

While I am no pro - I am certainly beyond the stages of being a beginner and let me tell you, I am IMPRESSED by this set! The colors are not at all chalky like in many other value sets - just the opposite. These pans are smooth and creamy. I would easily compare these to my Winsor and Newton Cotman travel set, but the GenCrafts are a mere fraction of the price. The one area I cannot speak to is lightfastness - so if that is a concern for you, then best to invest n colors from a long standing company with established lightfast ratings. I use this set for play, art journaling, crafting, and card making - so it is a perfect blend of quality and affordability. I have been able to lift these paints from the page without issue, and I also find that they perform great with other common watercolor techniques such as wet on wet and dry brush. I will note that I also bought the 48 pan set and found that while equally as great - it was too many colors for me. I really enjoy mixing colors, and working with smaller, more limited palette so this set is a great fit for me. If you love to have a ton of color options and/or color mixing isn't your love - then definitely check out the 48 pan set. Either way, you can't go wrong!

Some of the best watercolor pans I've ever used (not a professional but a long-time painter). Mine came with two water brushes which are good because they come with caps and don't leak, but the water comes out of the wring place in one of them when squeezed (might get worse over time? but for now it still wets the bristles so it is okay). Synthetic bristles, stain easily (doesnt come out with soap) but don't shed and keep their shape. The paper pad that comes with it is pretty good value, seems to be cold pressed but it's only about 80 lb (220g/m^2 as labeled) so it does buckle pretty heavily. The colors don't leak to other pages or the other side though so its good enough for sketches or tests, it would probably be fine if taped down and not layered too much. The paints themselves arrived color sorted and none broken. Comes with mixing tray and a small sponge. Not oddly grainy. Some of the colors are difficult to tell what they are on paper so i recommend swatching before using. They spread well but not out of control when used wet on wet. Vibrant, saturated colors, not streaky, not blotchy, or too opaque. Pallette includes: Lots of blues, purples, greens, and yellows. a few pinks, some browns, a black, two grays, and a white. The pans are easily removable too but dont seem to pop out or get damaged with normal use/transport so its a great set to mix and match and rearrange if you like as well. The colors blend really well together, They don't just swirl together they truly mix, however, using the brushes and paper in the kit at least, blending on the paper needed so much water that it started picking up the paper a bit, so be careful. All in all I am super happy with this kit and I would likely buy it again. The paint is good for finished pieces (haven't tested lightfastness but other than that) but not the paper or brushes. Best I've seen for its price.

I just received this set earlier today. I did swatches of the colors. All the colors are beautiful but the violet it’s just another blue. To me violet has always been more of a purple in it. So for a second I thought I had got an incorrect pan. I looked on their website to compare my swatches to the one they have on their site. Looks like it is right but the name threw me off initially. Packaging is nice. I like the paper pad (the size is very nice) included and the two bonus water brush pens. The set is a good size and I think perfect for beginners as myself. It has so many colors for such a good price. However, one of my brush pens seemed to have been used which I question because my pallet came wrapped in plastic. I compared both pens and it definitely was used. The used one was hard on the tip as it gets after it air dries. The tip had a light peach color on it. Good thing my colors didn’t seem used. It’s not a big deal but definitely something worth mentioning. I still recommend this set.

I got the 24 metallic watercolor set. Took a while to get here but was WORTH waiting for! Colors are soft yet have plenty of pigment. The case allows you to change the positions of the colors to your preference. It looks small but the pans don't have a false bottom, and have a really apple supply of paint. LOVE the water brushes and the case has a pallete to enable tou to mix your colors. Metallic refraction is subtle and not over the top. VERY HAPPY with this set and will get other sets to complement my "collection"! THANK YOU!

This seems to be a lovely set of watercolor paints. I have swatched out several brands (including some professional brands) and these have a nice pigment load and do not seem to be "cheap" paints. I haven't tried a lot of techniques with them and I am a beginner, so I can't say how they will perform for various techniques. I was able to lift paint while still wet. I wish that I could find information on the exact pigments used in this palette and for the lightfastness rating for each one, but that is probably too much to expect for an inexpensive set of paint. The palette tray itself is great. I wish I could buy the palette empty to use with other paints. The half pans snap into place and you can group 6 pans together and remove them. It is a wonderful design.

Super-pigmented, beautifully organized palette. Applies and blends smoothly, bright vivid colors. Comes two water brushes and a nice blending palette on the inside lid, AND a pad of nice quality watercolor paper. Just add water and you’re set to go. Some inexpensive Amazon art supplies give you the goods but poorly packaged like some overseas factory pumped it out without consulting an artist. This set seems put together very practically like someone who actually uses watercolors was involved. Much nicer quality than the price. Looking at the art supply store I was unable to find a set that was this complete that wasn’t for kids, or for artists but way more expensive. This is the set I will use until I know my preferences well enough to spend more on pricier options. Or not!

This was a gift for our grand-daughter. She absolutely loves them. The colours are so vivid.
