I was skeptical when I ordered 2 of these bowls. I expected them to be lightweight and ineffective at keeping the ants away. I was completely wrong! These bowls are substantial, not cheap as I expected, and they work great at keeping the ants away! I use them outside at my feral/stray cat feeding station and was having a terrible problem with ant infestations in the cat food. Today I came out to add more water to the moat and saw that one of my cats had been a little sloppy and spilled a piece of food out of the bowl. One piece. That piece was completely covered in ants but just an inch away sat the rest of the food, completely clean and ant-free. I couldn't be happier with this product!

It really does keep the ants out. Got this for the stray cats outside. Sometimes, I wonder if I should get a bigger one but this actually is the perfect amount for one day. Food does get in the water and outside of it but honestly, the raccoons, opossums, and skunks clean all that up. I hose it off every morning, put water in the moat, and fill it up with dry food. Very easy to clean.

The ants found the cat’s food bowls so I decided to give this a try. After the first day, I found a bunch of ants floating in the little moat, with only a couple having been able to reach the food. On the second day there were fewer ants, and by the fourth or fifth day the ants were gone. I still find a few ants occasionally because the cat inevitably gets food on the floor or in the moat where the ants can get to it. I give this thing 4 stars because although it pretty much solves the ant issue, now I have to worry about not spilling water when I pick the bowls up, and not spilling food into the moat. And now I’m doing this awkward dance of when throwing old food away I’m trying not to spill too much water in the trash and not spilling all the old food in the sink. My cat is small so she doesn’t eat much. If you have a large cat or even a normal one these bowls may be too small. For reference we put only 1/3 can of wet food and this little mound of kibble in these bowls. I wish also that the whole bowl was higher.

I think this is perfect for my senior cat, easily accessible to the food as is shallow. I use it for wet and dry food. She has a separate larger water dish. Easy to wash. Sturdy plastic.

I was using this bowl for a pet that is typically on our screened in porch. Initially, the bowl was functional and somewhat ok. The issues I had over time were that ants eventually made their way through the moat (water and all) and still ended living large and eating the food. Also, as anyone with pets knows, they drop food and of course it ended up in the moat. This made the moat extremely messy. Add that to the ants and it was just more than I could stand.

I have two stray cats that think I need to feed them lol 🤣 and I'm a sucker for animals. This bowl has helped me keep the ants out of the food. Now if I could only teach the cat pictured that the water in the slot is not there to drink. He keeps drinking the water from there and not the bowl ugh. It does collect a lot of food in the water slot but it's super easy to clean out. I use this bowl strictly for dry food but I'm going to buy another one for wet food as well. Great investment! Great price!

Great solution for outdoor feeding where bugs tend to find their way into a food bowl. The water moat keeps bugs like ants out of the food. Be sure to change the water in the moat every now and then to keep a fresh bowl for your pets. Very sturdy and well made. Easy to clean and use.
