Well constructed, retains the heat, and easy to clean
I am immensely impressed at the quality and performance of this French press. I needed a coffee maker that I could use to make several cups in the morning, where I could get a cup immediately and have another available in 10-20 minutes for my wife. I've used an Aeropress for years, and considered the Aeropress XL, but it's ridiculously priced for a few pieces of plastic and it's really designed for 2 cups brewed and consumed at the same time. When you open the box and pull this press out, you're immediately impressed by the weight and build quality. This isn't a thin glass vessel in a plastic carrier. The stainless steel, double walled construction has some heft. They even included an extra mesh filter, a nice touch. I was disappointed by Amazon's shipping. They sent it only in the manufacturer's box, which wasn't meant for shipping and the filter carrier was damaged by some impact. A few minutes with some hand tools and the anvil put it mostly back to true. It's not perfect, but it's not the manufacturer's fault. To see how this would perform, I ran an experiment: Started with coffee ground medium with a Cuisinart bur grinder. I used an additional paper filter, a few bucks for 100 on Amazon. Water boiled to 200 degrees fahrenheit French press at room temp, 60 degrees fahrenheit 2 scoops coffee, 4 cups water Ceramic mug at room temperature, 71 degrees fahrenheit Brewed for 3 minutes, used slow press for extraction. Coffee at 160 degrees fahrenheit in cup. No grounds Outside of french press slightly warm to the touch Then I gave it 10 minutes, undisturbed to see what my wife's cup was going to be like. 2nd ceramic mug at room temp, 71 degrees fahrenheit The coffee was 153 degrees in cup, still no grounds. By comparison, the first mug of coffee is at 120 degrees fahrenheit The double walled construction did a great job of retaining heat. I will need to use 5 cups of water next time. It was also very easy to clean. I would recommend this press to anyone looking to make a consistently tasty cup of coffee for more than one. It's durable construction and easy to clean stainless steel is a huge plus. I give it 5 stars! (I give Amazon's shipping 2 stars. Get it together Amazon!)

Excellent French Press 17 MONTH UPDATE BELOW
What can I say, this Press is perfect; I wish I would have found this years ago. All Stainless Steel. NO PLASTIC PARTS! Makes two large mugs of excellent tasting coffee in 4 minutes and keeps the coffee more than just warm for at least an hour. It's so easy even a 19 year old can use it :) Although course grind is recommended I use very fine espresso ground coffee and only get a touch of silt (no grinds) in the bottom of cup #2 using only two of the included filter screens. Mine also came with two extra filter screens (total of 4; two installed, two in a bag) but see no reason to use them as the two included in the plunger assembly should last nearly forever. The plunger rod can be easily unscrewed from the top knob and the bottom filter assembly as delivered and there is no need to over-tighten them for use, keep them lightly screwed together and you'll have no problem taking it apart for cleaning. It is super easy to clean and looks good on the counter where our junky old kuerig used to be... (can you say 'hot water through plastic'?) 17 Month update: We have used this 2-3 times a day for over 17 months and it still preforms like new. Looks great, works great, still using the first two filters. This one is holding up so well I see no reason we will EVER have to buy another. If we did we get this one again.

Nice simple french press, one tiny tweak would make it perfect...
Update 5 years later: This is still my daily driver solid as day 1. I'm only now having to replace the second mesh filter. The knob issue below hasn't been a problem since. Upgrading to 5 star. I like the simple stainless look and feel, and the double wall insulation is quite nice. It seems pretty solid and makes great coffee in my humble opinion. Definitely worth the price, and I imagine that it will outlast any glass french press. I did not notice any metallic flavor in the coffee, but I did notice some manufacturing residue when it arrived, and I cleaned the hell out of it before use. Definitely do that. Note that this is another obviously mass produced chinese item that many (many) vendors are just slapping their branding on. You will find a ton of clones under different names. Now for it's tiny flaw: The little threaded nut on the bottom of the shaft should have wingnut-like flanges to aid in disassembly, OR the knob should have been welded on or threaded in reverse. The problem is that when you try to unscrew the filter part off the plunger for cleaning, the knob is more easily removed, leaving you with a smooth shaft that is hard to grip. It can be done with one of those rubber jar lid grippy things or vice grips, but you may mar the surface with the second method. My solution: a drop of superglue in the thread of the knob, since it never touches the coffee. It will probably fail at some point, but it's pretty easy to redo.

Keeps coffee hot
The pot is hard to clean. I do not want to dump all these coffee grounds down the drain and they are hard to get out of the bottom of the pot. You also must get coarse ground coffee. This means, in my experience, you use more to get the same strength. I'm not liking that aspect since the coffee is expensive. But that is a french press and not a specific attribute unique to this one. Overall it's nice. We didn't spend a lot of money to buy it and it looks great. As french presses go I guess it's good since I've never had one before. (PS: I have gone back to my Mr. Coffee and just make awesome coffee with it. It will run forever and if it ever dies I will buy another.) But french presses are nice. : ) My adult kids love them. Perhaps they will take this one with them?

Makes great coffee. Is a solidly built French Press. And, pours nicely. We're delighted with this product.
We've had several French press coffee makers over the years. All of those were glass. The last one we purchased (Cafe du Chateau) from Amazon was obviously cheaply made, which was evident from the beginning. And, indeed, it began falling apart within weeks. When the glass broke for no apparent reason, we decided to go stainless steel. When the Bellemain French Press arrived about a week ago, it immediately felt like it was solidly built. The carafe is one solid piece with no seams, so unlike some all stainless presses we have read about, there is no possibility for water or coffee leaking in between the layers of stainless steel. The screen and plunger feel sturdy, unlike the others we have had. It makes a great cup of coffee and the coffee stays reasonably warm for a couple of hours, which is much longer than the glass models. We also use finely ground coffee on occasion. Although there is a little slush at the end, as should be expected, no grounds come through. Some other reviews say that the screen part cannot be removed. However, all that it takes the first time, is to use a pair of pliers to loosen the female end. After that there is no need to tighten it beyond a gentle hand tighten. In other models, the threads would strip very shortly after the first use. However, with the Bellemain, it feels like the threads are strong and the fit is exact. I don't expect to have any issues with this. Another complaint by reviewers concerns getting cut on the screen. This is an issue of common sense, folks. The screen is metal. The metal can cut. Don't move your hand along it. The screens have a seam around the edge, but some strands of metal can stick out. And, if you space out and get cut, you will heal. If you don't want to risk getting cut, buy a different type of coffee maker. In addition, this French Press pours nicely. We've had other types that would drip down along the carafe, unless you poured quickly risking splashing or over-filling. The only issue I have is with all coffee makers. They say, for instance with this model, that it makes 8 cups of coffee. A "cup" is a technical measurement term. A "cup" equals 8 ounces. But, all of these manufacturers use cup to mean 4 ounces. This is misleading and total b.s.

Great product...does the job.
An excellent product. Extremely well made, and with a great fit for the plunger / screen. Make certain to fill with hot tap water to pre-heat as even a room temperature stainless steel carafe will rob your coffee of heat.

Perfect coffee, so easy
I love coffee almost as much as I love my cat, and that's a lot! I usually use a pod brewer, one that gets the water good and hot. Recently there was an event that caused the electricity to go out for a short time and of course I was unable to make coffee. Which caused me to think, what would I do if the power was out for a whole day, or longer? Mom always used an old time percolator. It literally boils the coffee. Blech! (No offense, Mom). I had heard that coffee made in a French Press has superior flavor but I had the mistaken impression that it was somehow tricky to use. Wrong! It is so easy a child could do it. In five minutes I had perfect coffee!. I chose the Bellemain French Press for it's sturdy construction and sleek looks, but discovered that I really also like the fact that it's insulated and therefore the outside isn't hot to the touch. It also does a great job of keeping all the grounds out of your cuppa. Of course, you save money by buying coffee beans instead of pods (use a coarse grind for the press). The only criticism I have is that I would have liked marks inside the pot to measure the water level. I recommend that you use a measuring cup to see exactly how much water you are pouring in the first time you use it. After that, you will be able to eyeball it. The parts are precision fit and easy to clean. I am not sure that it will completely replace my existing machine (maybe when it quits working as they all eventually do), but if I need more than one cup it totally works for me. Small footprint means it's great for a small kitchen and I fully expect that it will not wear out any time soon so better for the planet, too.

Paint chips off and impossible to clean
Wanted to like this but it feels so cheap. The paint comes off whether you hand wash or put it in the dishwasher. It also has one of the worst design flaws Ive seen in a French press. The knob turns and falls off which makes it impossible to have a grip on the main rod to loosen the screen filter to clean. So essentially the filter is stuck and you have to accept that you just cant clean it properly

Works Well With Tea
I have had this plunger for 6 months or so. We use it to infuse black and green tea. The filter blocks any tea leaves from flowing out (as expected). It also does a decent job keeping the pot warm due to the double lining. When it is full of hot water, you can still touch the outer housing. You can also place the pot without a mat to protect the timbre table. Sometimes, I left the tea and leaves in the pot overnight, yet the inside does not appear to have been discoloured. It is little fiddlely to disassemble the plunger by unscrewing to clean, but overall, it has been a good product. I'm sure it will work equally well with coffee. I recommend this product.
