Comparing the Kenmore to a Miele
We have a full size Miele upright vacuum. It has worked well for around 8 years, but as we get older it is very heavy. At almost 26 pounds, and costing almost $700, it has everything you would want in a vacuum except light weight. So we decided to buy a much lighter model. After looking around for many months the Kenmore Intuition came on the market. Looking on Consumer Reports, a Kenmore model was the top brand for a model with a bag. But since the Intuition is a new model, it had not been tested. It turned out to be a great purchase. Listed are the items that are important to me on the Miele that and how they compare to the Kenmore. 1. Weight - The Kenmore is almost half the weight, so much easier to use. It doesn't feel as well made as the Miele with its mostly metal design, as compared to plastic, but then again that is what makes it so light. And maybe what helps in making almost 1/3 the price! 2. Suction - Hands down the Kenmore has a lot more suction! You get close to something on our hardwood floors and it pulls it in. And on carpet it seems to really suck the dirt out. 3. Bag system - The Miele has a great bag on it and connector to install and take it out. Same on the Kenmore. The Kenmore may have a little edge here as the whole top comes off so you put it right over the trash and take out the bag. But that doesn't really matter, as both machines have a bag that seals up as you take it out of the machine. 4. Hepa filter - Both machines have a three way filter. A great bag, a small foam filter and a larger Hepa filter. Same design and it works really well. 5. Light - Both have a good LED light to see under items. The Kenmore may be a little better here. 6. Removable hose with several attachments carried on the machine. Both have this. The Miele hose hard tube part will expand and get larger, while the Kenmore stays the same long length. I like the design of the Miele a little better here, but for one really important design difference. The Kenmore allows the whole top of the machine to come off and you can carry around the hose unit without the floor base. So this makes it 10 times better in using the hose with attachment. 7. Maneuverability - This is one area where the Kenmore falls down a little. The head on the Miele turns better than the Kenmore. The only thing that helps out with the Kenmore is that it is so light, but can drag it around anyway. So maybe a half a star better for Miele. 8. Suction control - The Miele has a knot on it that will turn down the suction. This is used for different rug types, and for hardwood floors. Update —- I FOUND the suction control on the handle of the Kenmore and it does help on the small rugs! The Kenwood does not have this control. I thought it would be missed. Well it is on small 2 by 4 foot throw rugs. With the Meile you turn the suction down and you can go over the rug. You can not do that with the Kenwood. It trys to pull the rug up. I have a work around in that I put on the pet brush on the hose and use it at full power. You have to do the extra step, but the full power suction does a better job of cleaning these rugs. Like the one at our front door that get really dirty. It really cleans up this rug and makes it look better than the Miele ever did. And you had to change the suction on the Miele for rug piles. The Kenmore stays on full power and works very well on any rug type. And on hardwood or tile floors also. The thing the Miele can't do is break apart and use the top unit by carrying it around. This is a real plus for us. We have steps that really didn't get the cleaning before that we can now do with the Kenmore. I hope this help others.

Excellent Choice for any home
I vacuum just about every day. I have gone back to the bagged vacuum, and it is so much cleaner. The wand comes out easy. I thought the brush head was a little small in width but actually turns out to the be perfect size for getting in smaller areas. It has great suction. It is light weight. The attachments work easy. I like that the head that turns easily. I can give it two thumbs up and the value is great as well. I thought I wouldn't need the front lights but actually love them to see dark corners. I like the automatic change in level for carpet to wood floors. No more bending down to change the level throughout the house. I love the bag light that shows the level of dirt in the bag and when it needs to be changed. The bag is a good size and even came with a bag already in the vacuum. It was super easy to assemble out of the box. And it looks great too.

Nice but could be better
I like most things about this vacuum such as it is lightweight, maneuvers nicely and has enough suction to get the floors clean. There are a few things I do not like such as the on board tools don’t stay on the machine, they keep falling off, the furniture brush which spins when in use doesn’t work as well as the small brush that doesn’t spin plus there is no way to store it on the machine at all. The plastic tubing in which the dirt enters the machine isn’t very flexible. I’m hoping with time it will become more flexible allowing it to stretch out to reach further. All in all I do like the vacuum but it could be better.

LOVE this vacuum!
I have owed this vacuum for 3 years now. I prefer a vacuum with a bag rather than a cannister that has to be emptied. The bag for this vacuum is great because it does not release a lot of dust and replaces easily. The bags are not very expensive. I go through about 3 bags a year of every other day use. The vacuum has great suction to clean both bare and carpeted floors. You can turn off the beater brush, if needed. (I have a couple of area rugs with fringe.) The cannister separates from the floor tool that makes it easy to use on stairs or lifting less weight for high up cleaning. There are two different ways (length of tool) to separate the the suction hose depending on the job you are doing. This is the most versatile and efficient vacuum if have found and I have owed several over the years. I will have this vacuum serviced and repaired until it can no longer be repaired.

Excellent vacuum
Great vacuum, easy to use and cleans well! Much better than a bag-less vacuum. Strong suction and cleaning power. Feels like it's self propelled which makes it effortless to use.

Unbelievably awkward and poorly designed. But, a lovely green metallic finish.
I have put off writing this review for so long, not wanting to be reminded of this appliance when I am not forced to use it. But I feel a responsibility to share the grief. First, the good things. The green metallic color is nice and shiny. The bags are capacious. And, . . . uh. . . I’m done with good things. General evaluation? We bought it based on a video review that measured ability to pick up sand in carpet. You, know, suction. (We did not think to remember that, uh, we have hardwood floors. And seldom track sand into the house. But the green metallic color. . .!) And, as Wayne (of “Wayne’s World” fame) says regarding another electrical appliance, “It certainly does suck!” Yes, this vacuum has suction. AND, it certainly does suck. How? Let me count the ways! The brush attachments will not stay attached to the back of the base. Why? Because to release the base into a usable position, you have to use your foot to hold down the front of the vacuum while you are (presumably) standing or walking BEHIND IT. So, you reach around from BEHIND IT with your foot which has a leg attached, and voila, you brush against one of the brush attachments and it becomes. . . guess, go ahead . . . UNATTACHED! Which means you have to bend over and try to reattach it to the back of the base of the unit. What else? The suction tube is long enough to do some chores if you detach the top of the wand from the unit. Like, vacuum your face. Always a good thing to do, right? Why do you ask? Because the expandable hose is so very stiff that if you reach up with the wand to do something the hose is so inflexible that it topples the unit. Likely onto your foot. Oh, and for those little jobs that detaching the wand head would be ever so perfect, guess what? You have to release the entire electrical cord from the wand. Which means after you knock out the little job, you have to rewind the cord, all of it, back onto the unit so it can go back into storage. What else? If you try and roll over a threshold (yes, some older houses have thresholds in the doorways inside the house), the unit will release and the front will think you used your foot to release it and release itself with a lovely loud noise. The unit going over a threshold thinks the threshold is somehow related to you reaching around from behind with your foot attached to your leg thereby dislodging one or both brush attachments. . . And the front of the unit slams down onto the threshold and you still can’t get over the threshold without putting the front of the unit back into the semi locked position that allows you to move between rooms when you are not actually vacuuming. Oh, yeah, the ever so easily detached accessory brushes also fall off of the wand. Very easily. They will not stay installed. On the wand. Which is where you use them. They just won’t stay attached. Suffice to say, don’t buy this vacuum. Pass on it. Get a Miele or some other well rated brand. Spend some more money, and always remember: A cheap appliance is just that. A cheap appliance. Pass on the Hoover. Because “It certainly does suck!” Nice color, though. . .

6 dogs, 4 cats and 4 ladies approved!!!!! Buy it!
Holy moly this vacuum sucks!!! I love it! My husband is on oxygen so I need the dust to be gone, not poofing up in the air every time I dump a canister, so the bag was an absolute must. My old canister vac wasn't doing its job and having to stop 5 times in one room to empty it was not OK with me. And it smelled. I've had it for about 12 years I think. Anyway, this vac sucked up everything the old one left behind! We have 6 dogs, 4 cats, 3 young ladies and me all shedding all the time so being able to vacuum is very important. The cord is nice and long, I was able to do the living room, dining room, and halfway into the classroom and kitchen without unplugging, so if I use an extension cord I shouldn't need to unplug to do the main parts of the house all in one fast go. Love the rocker switch to change between hard floors and carpet. The front and side suction are much better than I expected. Haven't used the attachments yet but they seem well made. Already filled the first bag with everything the old vac left behind, and man it was heavy! It made a thud sound when it hit the trash. Should have bought this year's ago! Yes the attachments are in a bad spot, but I just put them on a shelf anyway (6 dogs and 2 are still puppies lol). I have weak wrists, and this was pretty easy to handle. Absolutely love the light! And it's nowhere near as loud as I thought it would be meaning I can absolutely vacuum after everyone goes to bed while the dogs are out for the last time. The price is definitely worth it as long as it lasts a few years so we'll see there.

This Granny is so happy with her new Kenmore!
My over 25 yr old Kenmore upright died! We have nearly all carpet and carpeted stairs. When checking out the best they were all over $800! I decided just to get what I was familiar with and ordered this nifty machine. I’m 84 and hubby 90 but it was pretty simple to assemble. It’s light and maneuverable but how I love that I can take the body off and do the carpeted stairs without messing with hoses etc. it’s so light -it stands beside me on the steps! It seems to do a great job and I find it’s easy to lower suction for some lighter rugs we have taped over the carpet. I’m a happy granny!

Not suitible for the UK homes! Dangerous!
Why is this product allowed to be sold for the UK market without any notice or warning?!!! The plug is for US but that's not the major issue here, the voltage is 120V! If you plug this in the UK with an adoptor, you would blow up thhe vacuum cleaner! Dangerous! Now I have to make a trip to drop it off to a collection centre, what a waste of time!!!!
