Exactly what an OBA system should be โ solid install on a 2023 F250
Mounted this above the spare tire on my 2023 F250 and it fits the space well with some planning. VIAIR's build quality on the 450C is what you'd expect โ this is a serious compressor, not a cheapo unit that'll cook itself after a few duty cycles. The 2.5 gallon tank is the right call over the smaller options; gives you enough reserve to actually run accessories without the compressor cycling constantly. One thing worth calling out for anyone doing a weatherproof install in an exposed location โ you'll want to use the sealed 145 PSI pressure cutoff switch rather than the standard one. Took a few extra minutes to sort that out during the install but it's the right move if your compressor is seeing any weather. Keeps moisture out of the pressure switch and protects the longevity of the system. Overall the install was straightforward. VIAIR includes decent documentation and the wiring is clean if you take your time running it properly. Fused direct to battery, grounded solid, no issues. Performance is exactly what I needed. Airing back up after off-road runs is quick โ the 450C moves serious volume and the tank means you're not waiting on pressure to build before you start. Also running an air horn and rear air bags off the same system without any complaints. The compressor keeps up, duty cycle hasn't been an issue in real world use. If you're building out an OBA system on a truck and want something that'll actually hold up long term, the VIAIR 450C setup is the one to buy. Worth every penny.

Great long lasting product!
Great product! First one lasted seven years under a truck that was in the elements everyday. Used the air compressor at least once a week for something. It lasted long enough for me to want to buy a second when the first one finally died. Great value for the price!

Great Product
They actually give you everything you need. You might end up needing a few more brass fittings, I did but I went a different route. Rather than using this on a truck I installed this in my Jeep for airing up tires after the trail. Build quality of everything is great all around- I couldn't find anywhere that they skimped out. Get a good idea of where everything will go and make sure it will fit. Be sure that the air line won't get kinked because that's how you spring a leak. It might not be a bad idea to buy some extra hose, but they give you plenty. I used more than I needed and only went over by a few feet. They give you 6' of 3/8" hose for remote mounting the filter, but I mounted it next to my engine intake. I uses 1/4" tubing for this because the 6' of 3/8" wasn't long enough, so I think this is why it takes a bit longer to fill. The gage they give you is great, and they give it to you in a little sheet metal cutout with a switch. I mounted mine where it wouldn't be in the way- I'm sure if you're putting this in a truck you'll be able to keep the gage in the sheet metal mount they give you. They also give you an extra bulb. And 3 air filters. Wiring is also very easy, as long as the pressure switch gets its 12V power it'll turn itself on and off according to whatever pressure its' at. My only complaint is that they don't give you any way to mount the pressure switch. I used a giant cable tie, but I'll come up with something eventually. Definitely would recommend this product.

Great product, but a falls a little short...
Excellent system! Quality product at a good price! The only issue i have: is that this system advertises to be able to run "small air tools" (not sure I've ever seen "small air tools") but, you CAN use standard (?) air tools. Now, the air in the tank isn't enough to run an air ratchet or impact gun for more than a few seconds before the pressure drops too low, leaving you to wait for the compressor to fill the tank again. Even though the 450C 100% duty cycle will run, like, forever, unfortunately its not strong enough to to run pneumatic tools on its own without a pressurized tank. The GOOD side is that its a very well built system with easy to understand directions and quality fittings. Although finding a way to plumb the lines around your truck is completely unique, this system offers a nice plumbing/ wiring guide and comes with PLENTY of air line. The big advertisement is that it can fill tires up to 37". I currently run 35" tires on a 20" rim and I can easily fill my tires back up with no stress on the system. The compressor is a nice fit to the tank size as it only takes a few mins to go from empty to full, and the auto shut-off/ turn-on switch works like a charm. You can easily fit air horns, or engage lockers with this but the "tools issue"may leave you wanting more. That being said, i would consider THIS system to be an excellent entry level air system for most off-roaders and wouldn't bother with anything on a lower level. If you really want to run air tools for remote repair, you may want to turn your sights to a dual compressor system and a bigger tank.

Plus I like to blast an air horn every once in a ...
This is the second of these systems I have bought. The other unit I let go when I sold the truck it was installed on. Chunk all of the included 1/4" MIPT fittings and go buy American made - the thread taper is correct. Also chase all of the tank 1/4" female tank bosses before you screw in any fittings. The pump will fill the reserve tank in about 7 minutes when its empty. I used 1/4" push on hose - no clamps required. Had some serious reservations about doing so, but, have no regretted it at all!! Absoultely no air leaks - not even a bubble during the soapy water test. Seal your American made fittings with teflon tape and get on with it. All other components of this kit are first rate stuff. Onboard air is a must for me and the remote places I go. Plus I like to blast an air horn every once in a while! Viair is overall the best system I've found - especially for the money spent.

This compressor sure beats the portable compressors in a bag
I bought and installed this setup for my Toyota FJ Cruiser for when I air down for off-roading then air back up. Also for my camper trailer when we are on the road for several weeks and need to air up a tire or 2 a few lbs. the complete setup took about a day to install. I had to make a plate for the compressor to sit on under my hood and another frame for the tank to be installed behind the rear axle. I also had a local parts store fabricate an airline 12โ long to connect the compressor to the tank. The female quick coupler that came with this is junk. After about a month the coupler started to rust and was hard to connect. I installed the coupler in to my rear bumper. I have since replaced the coupler with a good quality quick connect coupler. I have times serving all 4 of my tires fro 15psi to 38 psi. From the time I turned on the compressor with zero psi in the tank to turning it off and draining the tank. Total time was 26 minutes. When I had my previous portable compressor in a bag it took this long just to service 1 tire. Iโm very happy with my purchase.

Great kit. Good quality compressor.
This is the second one of these kits I have installed on one of my trucks. The first one is over 13 years old and is still working perfectly. This one went on a 2020 4 door Long Bed Chevrolet 2500HD LTZ for the air bags, air horn and onboard air supply. I used the ViAir bracket for the compressor and fabbed my own brackets from 1/8" x 1" flat bar for the 2.5 gallon tank. It was a tight fit length wise but worked out very well. I added a 1/2" bung to the air tank for the large air horn and found the tank steel wall nice and thick and easy to weld the new 1/2" npt bung to. This kit comes with a 450C compressor. I use the compressor heavily on both trucks and it does get hot when running continuously but both have worked great with no failures.

Great item, happy with purchase.
Great product!! If you want an air supply on your vehicle this will do the job. I have had mine installed for almost a year and used many times, functions great. In cab gage works, pump is fairly fast, and fittings seal very well. If I leave it at 100psi, 2 days later itโs maybe down to 85psi. I would suggest mounting the pump out of water contact zones though as it does get quite hot when ordering and could crack from cold water contact.

... for the last 2 weeks not and am very happy with the result
I have had this installed for the last 2 weeks not and am very happy with the result. It took some figuring on where to mount the compressor and air tank as the instructions say to mount in a dry location. Its a truck and without installing it in the cab a dry location is not going to happen. As an aside those who have installed in their cabs must not have great hearing. Its a compressor and as a result make a decent amount of noise when running. I ended up installing it under the cab of the truck between the frame rails. Not perfectly dry but dry enough for a water resistant compressor to handle. I really like how quickly the compressor fills the tank and it does a decent job on the truck tires as well. My previous onboard compressor did not handle airing up my tires and eventually stopped working. I also tied this compressor into my pacbrake and love having that braking power back.

Pressure regulator switch malfunction
Great item if the pressure regulator switch didnโt malfunction. Continually overcharges and relief valve releases. No product support
