Good concept, POOR QUALITY... NOT WORTH THE COST!!!
I bought a cabinet exactly like this about 5 years ago and loved it, so I thought I would buy another one. Big mistake!! The cabinet is made very poorly and is nothing like the quality of the one I have. I received the item damaged; a piece of wood was broken off the bottom of the right side door. The shelves that were sent with the cabinet are way too small and don't fit appropriately in the cabinet. The wood is not a consistent color (the bottom of the cabinet is lighter than the top). The wood does not seem to be finished or sanded, as it has a very rough feeling and will scratch your skin if you rub against it. I would return the item, but the hassle of packaging this cabinet up and the cost of shipping it back is just not worth it to me.I'm hoping the shelves will hold my CDs... that's how bad the quality of this cabinet is. Definitely NOT WORTH THE COST!!! I wish it was made like the one I already had :(. I wonder what happened to the quality of the production of these cabinets in the last few years. Sad...UPDATE--Once I filled the cabinet with all of my CDs (which does not completely fill the cabinet), the doors won't close. I'm not sure if the magnets are bad or the CDs are too deep for the doors. I will be inquiring about how to send this piece of junk back for a refund.

It showed up packaged very well and survived shipping beautifully. The box looked great
Wow. What a piece of 200 dollar trash. It showed up packaged very well and survived shipping beautifully. The box looked great. Everything was wrapped up really nicely. After careful removal of the unit, I started my inspection. Hmmm. Lots of weird black screws in the back all up the joints. It's really shakey. Hmm. Oh look, the bottom laminate is separating from the top. Went to use the knob to open the cabinet and it came off in my hand. Whoever had drilled this used a larger drill bit than necessary and made it absolutely useless. The large shelf pieces are actually wider than the unit. So, without shaving, it would cause terrible strain on the inside of the box. I'm afraid it is going to fall apart. The door shelves are around 1/4" inch too short for the doors. The holes for the shelf pegs on one side of the door were drilled with the proper bit, the other, way too small. I can't get them in. Going to have to redrill. All in all, I have about a day worth of work (including dry time for the glue I have to use.)Honestly, I don't see how anyone could recommend this to anyone. What a piece of junk.I feel like maybe someone may have had this and tried to do some repairs to it and then sent it back to amazon without telling them. If that's the case, I feel really bad for that person.

Holds DVDS but poor quality
It holds DVDs but is a poor quality. Finish has blemishes and many shelves are rough. Seriously doubt it is real oak, especially the shelves. Holes for shelf supports too big so shelf supports droop. Shelves are 3/16" too short. That may not seem like much but with the drooping supports it would be a problem if you wanted to put something heavier than DVDs on shelves. I seriously doubt it would hold CDs without doors rubbing on base. According to my level my floor is level but I had to shim a bottom corner to get doors to align. The door hinges are designed for thicker wood so have been bent to fit. Instructions say two shelves were screwed in to add strength in shipping but only one shelf was screwed in. The other was laying on the bottom. The shipping carton was the highlight of the experience. Double boxed and well padded. Keeping this at my lake cabin. I would not keep it in my primary residence. I suspect there is a better product out there for the money. Way too expensive for the quality.

Very detailed recount of my search for a CD/DVD multimedia cabinet and Leslie Dame's products
After searching for over 3 weeks I found the CD/DVD cabinet that I wanted. There are a lot of brands - Leslie Dame being one of them. I found Leslie Dame had the best choices for color, capacity and design. I was disappointed that as of March and April 2015 I could not order the 2 cabinets that I most wanted because they were seemingly not in stock anywhere in the USA even after a thorough search on Google. I heard from one distributor that they stopped carrying Leslie Dame because they were unreliable having items in stock, and that they had manufacturing quality issues since they started fabricating them in China. I didn't pay a lot of attention because they had the best choices for what I wanted.A month later I finally found one of the two models in stock sold by Amazon. They only had 5 in stock. I spent $300 and I thought that was expensive given the size dimensions (2 feet wide by 3.5 feet tall by 1 foot deep), but man I liked what I saw. By the time it arrived I had been shopping for 1.5 - 2 months and I was excited to finally have a compact place to store all of my DVD's and CD's. But...The item is solid wood - that's what I liked about it and what justified $300 for the size of the piece of furniture. However, here is where we found issues:-The color did not match what we saw on our computer monitor. It was far enough off that it was not due to the computer monitor. There is just a lot of variation.-The color of the shelves varied quite wildly from shelf to shelf. Some looked almost cherry and some looked like dark oak.-It is "solid wood" but the density and consistency of the wood was also highly variable. I held two identical shelves in each hand and the one shelf was at least twice as heavy/dense as the other. I switched hands to be sure and it was not my imagination.-The holes drilled on the inside for the shelf support brackets are completely off for 3 of the shelves. There is a good 1/4 - 1/2 inch difference in height for at least one of the four holes on 3 of the 15 or so shelves, which makes for an awfully wobbly shelf. Once the discs are on it it is less of a problem, but still it is shoddy.-The whole unit feels sort of loose and wobbly after it has some weight in it. There is way too much give in the construction. I could shift the unit a good inch in any direction from the top and the bottom stays still.-One of the shelf pegs was deformed plastic and unusable. They give you four extra, which is enough for one shelf, but it's unnerving that even their plastic injection molded pieces are a bit shoddy in how they're fabricated.I would like to return this item and find a different manufacturer, but as of the time that I wrote this the other options out there don't seem as appealing on paper. They would also require 2 or more units to store the same number of discs. And the dimensions don't match the space I need. I would like to return this item, but I am not sure I'm willing to deal with finding packaging that I can use to return it, and if I have to pay shipping it'll probably be prohibitive as far as the cost.I might also add that when I could not find the Leslie Dame products that I wanted in stock anywhere in the country, I called the manufacturer twice and emailed them once. The email bounced because their mailbox was full and the phone calls were not returned - not even now, 1-2 months after both messages were left.
