EXO|AX AX5400 WiFi6 Gigabit Mesh Router - Mobile App. Managed - Voice Control - 4-port Gigabit Ethernet LAN - 2-port USB - (DIR-X5460-US)

I was already apart of the D-Link family as I was using the DIR-882 but when I saw the DIR-X5460 on sale for Prime day, I had to take the leap despite the upcoming release of WiFi-6E routers in the near future. This is a significant leap from my old router as it has way more horsepower top to bottom with the new Wi-Fi 6 capability. The only two Wi-Fi 6 ready devices I had available to test were my OnePlus 8 phone and a desktop Wi-Fi card I also caught on sale. It boosted my transmit speed on my phone from 866mbps to 1200 mbps! I have a ton of smart home devices and they all connected very quickly. Setup was a breeze and it even automatically updated the firmware to the latest version. I feel very little drop off switching from my desktop from a wired connection to the wireless connection . It even has cloud support to the router to accept voice commands however, I find the functionality for it to be rather buggy and cumbersome. It would be far easier to login to the router and make the needed changes on their simple to use GUI instead of using the voice features which are pretty limited to toggling the guest network status and rebooting the router. I feel I'll be able to get plenty of use out of this router as it will be awhile before Wi-Fi 6e adoption rate is high enough to want to change up from this high performing router. Do not hesitate to buy if you are in the market for another wireless router as you'll be hard pressed to find one with this much power at a reasonable price point.

For almost 8 years, I had been using the same reliable D-Link DIR-880L router. However, when I upgraded my cable modem, the DIR-880L did not allow me to get the full speed provided by my ISP. Hence, I upgraded to the D-Link WiFi 6 Router AX5400. After receiving the new router, I downloaded the D-Link WiFi app onto my phone and scanned in the provided QR code. Everything seemed to go okay, but I did not get any internet connection after multiple attempts. Even when connecting my laptop through ethernet cable, I could not manually set up things in the configuration webpage. I called my ISP to reset the cable modem, but I still could not get internet connection between the cable modem and router. So, I hypothesized that the D-Link provided low profile (thin) ethernet cable might be faulty. I switched to a standard ethernet cable, and, that solved the whole connection issue! This is the fourth time that I have seen faulty ethernet (even brand new) cables from different suppliers through the years. So, if you have internet connection issues during setup, please try another ethernet cable! Anyway, the D-Link phone app is useful to configure separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz options; it seems easier to work with this app than the web-based configuration page. Now I get greatly improved speeds though out the house.

I was initially confused by setup. I am not very computer savvy. The directions would be more helpful if they had you initially connect the router to your computer via cable. You can then use your computer to complete setup if you don't want to scan the code they provide. (I couldn't get my phone to scan the code). Once I connected the router to the computer, setup was straightforward. The only other issue is with streaming. For some reason, when we try to stream Netflix on our living room TV, about 15 feet from the router with two walls in between, the signal keeps dropping. It doesn't happen with other streaming services and it doesn't happen in other rooms so I'm not certain what's going on.

I'm gamer, I usually use ethernet wire ran through the hallway to game on pc. I replaced my ethernet wire with this router. I then bought a wifi 6 Network adapter from ASUS and it paired with it the router and its like I'm gaming on ethernet. Its no joke this is gaming grade wifi and I get 29-30 ping in online first person shooters which is basically what I was getting on ethernet. You may be able to achieve 0ping results with this router but my internet is not that good so you will have to try it yourself. ALSO - I am able to game and stream simultaneously with this router with no issues or decrease in my game's ping and I see no lag in the output stream. (For those who stream)

Bought february 2021. Has been reliable with my wifi 6 adapter for the computer, I have gigabit connection which averages 700 mbps down with lan cable, and with this router I am seeing a consistent 550 mbps down, sometimes higher. Much faster than my previous AC (wifi 5) router. Covers my whole house ( single level 1300 sqft) and it reaches out to my yards without a significant drop in signal or speed. Very good router so far. My house has about 20 items connected to this router with streaming, gaming, and video security and no one has noticed any issues with upload or download speed

I got this for a friend whose router needed to be replaced. I have owned D-Link routers before and was quite happy with them. My friend is not a technical person so I wanted to make sure what I got them was just make sure everything is plugged in and it should work. I don't want to spend time on the phone trying to help them troubleshoot issues. Before trying to plug it in to the modem I turned it on and plugged it in to my laptop so I could configure it. That part was reasonable easy but I found their GUI cumbersome and maybe even missing some things. I did not spend a lot of time playing around trying to find stuff I didnt really need to so I just left well enough alone. I shut it down and brought it to their router. I used the cable that came with the router to plug in to the modem. After turning everything on the router was not able to connect to the internet (not getting an IP). I did some troubleshooting and still couldn't get it to work. I even contacted D-Link support and this is what they suggested: Turn it off and on again. Set the DNS servers to Googles (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) Clone the MAC address from my laptop and set it to try and use IPv6 None of those things worked so I put the old one back in place and am returning this POS. I am not happy at all with the product itself, the GUI/features and the support from D-Link. I will most likely get a ASUS or something else along those lines. Oh, and one of the things I tried to do was update the firmware. I went to their support page for the router and saw 2 firmware updates beyond where my router was. I downloaded them both and tried to update it using the latest one (was also marked as a hotfix but was about the same size as the other). The update failed, not giving any reason. I then tried the next one and that failed too, no explanation. It turns out they are not for that router, even though they were on the downloads page for that router. I did connect the new router to the old so I could let the router connect to the internet and try to update the firmware itself (yes, it was able to connect to the internet using the old router and I plugged it in to the Internet port on the d-link). When I tried to update the firmware that way it say it was using the latest version already.

First of all I am not a tech. This D-link WiFi 6 router has sped everything up even non WiFi 6. I think it has to do with the data packet bundling thing. the 5400 blasts my whole four bedroom house with coverage all the way out to the front yard parking! I connected WiFi 6 pc to WiFi as it was just as fast or faster than my ethernet connection. The app is very easy to use installation is a snap. The D-Link software is free check the router you are looking at most have a fee involved. All I know is I had 40 Mbps connection that went to 48 to 50 Mbps connection till the isp throughtled the Mbps till the router was at a even 40 after complaining we were data hogs, but our consumption was the same as before ( the last six years ) but with less speed. Don't be afraid of a brand that is not as prolific as the others. I have not had a problem since installing mechanically or otherwise ( except for the isp snivelling ). I also recommend the D-link WiFi 6 range extender.

The included ethernet cable that they recommend you use to connect your modem to this router is TERRIBLE. ~DO NOT~ use the included ethernet cable when setting up this router. Get a different one from a reputable seller for a more stable Wifi setup. I had seen some reviews from people saying that this router would drop constantly and require regular resets to function properly. Initially, I found the speeds of this router to be excellent, but I too became frustrated with the Wifi dropping -- sometimes in the middle of a zoom meeting!! Each time the Wifi dropped I would check my modem and see that my internet was still working fine, it was an issue with the router. As I was troubleshooting the issue I swapped the manufacturer provided ethernet cable with a different one I've had laying around. Lo and behold, I have not had any dropped wifi issues since making this change! Minus two stars from the product for including a terrible cable that makes their otherwise good product borderline unusable.
