Can these be used in a vehicle for sound deadening and insulation against firewall heat?

Maybe, but they are small and it would take a lot of them. It would be much better to buy a roll of the aluminum backed automotive sound deadening material that is made for these applications.

All the raw material and manufacturing is done right here in the USA.

Is it safe for this to touch a live wire?

It’s a sound and fire rated acoustical putty pads. I’m not sure how safe it is but always switch the circuit off before working on live wires.

Can you apply to top of recessed can lights?

Yes, that would be a great application for this product.
