Crackling sound is not realistic. Flame is very dim.

Can't see logs glowing
Unless the logs are used in a dark room you can't see any glow in them at all. The picture used to promote the product is not at all what it looks like if there is any light in the room, even a dim one. The "crackling" sound is more like broken springs than the sound of real burning logs.I am VERY disappointed in this Duraflame product and unless this one happens to be defective, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

Sweet little logs, wish the light was brighter, but even without heat it is warm. Cheap to run, fun to see

Snap, crackle, disaster
Should have paid more attention to the reviews about the crackling sound as it really is awful. Very irritating so I had to turn it off. It really does sound like nails falling into an empty can and is too loud even on the lowest setting due to the 'pop' which is too frequent and too loud. It actually sounds more like an electric baseboard heater expanding and contracting than a fire. Now all I have are glowing logs which really aren't doing it for me. Amazon was good and gave me a discount, but I think I will try to sell this unit because my other electric crackling logs from Pleasant Hearth are much better and pleasant sounding. I only bought this unit because the motor on my other electric fireplace was noisy, but that unit has since been replaced and is now noise free. Oh well, not one of the more expensive fireplaces so I guess you can't really expect too much, but I wish Twin Star which manufactures this product would address the crackling sound as I'm not the only one to complain about it. The product has good potential, but really falls short in that area.

it is a beautiful subtle lighting at night and it was very easy to set right into the fireplace in my apartment. I do not care for the crackling sounds so I never turn that part on but the logs stay lit 24/7. Very satisified
