Good beginner quality chuck. I’d rated this as on the higher end of Chinese made products. Seems like good steel was used. The gears are not as smooth working as some higher end chucks but they get the job done. Considering the price of higher quality chucks, you cannot beat this one for value received.

Nice heavy duty piece

I have many expensive wood chucks and have found these to be of good quality, durability and the price point is amazing. I have installed these on my studio’s Craftsman lathes. There is a reason why they sell out quickly.

Works well, fits great.

Arrived well packaged. Appears to be well designed and easy to use. Installed pretty easily except the 3/4" threads on the adaptor were very tight and difficult to install first time, they loosened up a bit for subsequent installs. Upon mounting a test piece and turning a scrap spindle, I found the center to be misaligned. After examination, I found the chuck had a significant wobble. I tried re-mounting and checked out the machine alignment to no avail. There is over 1 mm of wobble measured at the body on the chuck. I am going to assume this was a machining error that escaped quality control (if there is such a thing). I am returning the chuck and will try another and see what happens.

Overjoyed with my purchase! This chuck (who shall henceforth be referred to as “Chuck”) has impressed me at every opportunity. Considering Chuck’s sturdiness and quality, the price is very reasonable. Chuck will likely outlive the every other tool I’ve bought for my lathe (Including the lathe). I’ve had a few accidental flying bowls and exploding sticks, but Chuck don’t care. Chuck remains strong. Chuck keeps doing what Chuck’s always done. Holding secure and looking good whilst doing it. We should all strive for a fraction of the strength Chuck possesses. Also Chuck has a fantastic box and is very well presented. Chuck has increased my capabilities as a wood turner and I eagerly look forward to using Chuck in future projects.

Works exactly as advertised. Minimal issues. Loosens occasionally but thats inherently an issue with 99% of scroll chucks. Would buy again

Got these as the chuck they fit came with the flatter jaws. Been using them a lot (entirely in fact) for drilling pen blanks on the lathe. Way better and more accurate than doing it on the pillar drill and I'm aware these jaws have other uses which I've yet to explore. A good purchase and I may get the third type of jaws to complete the accessories for this chuck.

Perfect for a small wood lathe, heavier than expected. Had to make a thread adapter for my ancient lathe, but turned out good.
