After being given a terminal diagnosis with only a few weeks to live, Jane dug up research, some decades old, in her quest to survive. Rather than aiming to cure cancer, which in many cases is unachievable, Jane's approach was to stop it growing. Remarkably her approach not only stopped it growing, it disappeared altogether. There are now clinics following her protocol, achieving remarkable successes. This book is a game-changing new dawn in the treatment of cancer. An international publishing sensation. This page-turning inspirational read is updated with a new 'Metro Map', Jane's unique and revolutionary route map to starving cancer. A glossary and index will also be included. Written in two sections, in Part 1 Jane intertwines her remarkable life story of 'terminal cancer' to full recovery, describing how she discovered a unique cocktail of off label drugs (drugs usually prescribed for other conditions) and supplements that effectively starve the cancer stem cell, the cell left behind by conventional treatment. Treatment for the stem cell is hailed as the Holy Grail, so this book plugs the missing piece into why we do not have a cure for cancer. Lead cancer researchers at top oncology centers are now using this book as a guide and Jane has a huge following of tens of thousands on Facebook. Testimonials abound from happy and delighted recovered patients and from oncologists who use her methods. National press, TV and radio have already covered Jane's ground-breaking research. Much more is in the pipeline with two documentaries and a possible movie in the future. Jane won the 'Amazing Women Global' Lifetime Achievement 2019 and the New York Big Book Award 2019 ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Review: MUST HAVE - This is an absolutely fantastic book, and I gave it 5 stars, even though it has some caveats. It is a real page turner, thanks to the author's prodigious writing talents, and she stays on point 98% of the time, offering pearls of advice and information on killing cancer, even though it relates her personal story. The main caveat is that, even though the first 300 pages are an easy read and utterly engaging, dispensing vital information throughout, at the same time, the last 100 pages suddenly become exponentially more technical, and somewhat difficult to decipher, at first. You may want to read some sections here more than once to get it clear. Secondly, it becomes so technical regarding "fine tuning" your program, which requires your own research ( she offers basic guidance how to do it) and diagnostic tests which only a trained physician would know what to utilize, such that, ultimately, you will need to seek out a holistic MD/oncologist focused on cancer. But, she does, to her credit offer an exhaustive list of medical references. Another minor complaint is that there are a huge number of "broad spectrum", completely natural nutraceuticals such as modified citrus pectin, fermented wheat germ, saffron, resveratrol etc, etc which are invaluable in killing both cancer stem cells and fast dividing daughter cells which she ignores. Also. she relies exclusively on off-label drugs such as statins, which she vociferously defends, stating that they have received a "bad rap, and that their serious side effects take a year to manifest whereas she employs it only short term, but she brings no reference to support her claim. All in all, these criticisms are relatively minor, and this is an indispensable reference book to have. I would suggest to anyone interested in the subject to subscribe to Dr. Ralph Moss's website which is truly exhaustive and offers invaluable information which will broaden your horizons and offer additional, crucial strategies (I get no commission!) Review: Phenomenal book - Wish I found it earlier! - This book is a must read for anyone battling cancer; in particular for anyone looking for an alternative route beyond the western standard of chemo and radiation. Jane McClelland writes a very detailed but also very readable book for the average non-medical person, explaining the many pathways cancer is prone to take if it runs into a road block such as chemo. Rather than just having a single approach to fighting the disease, she offers a multi-pronged metabolic approach in which one blocks other pathways before the cancer even heads down them explaining that most often, chemo will reach a point at which it will stop working. Hence the need to block other pathways before that happens. As a survivor of stage 4 cervical cancer herself, she has walked the walk and is now educating others on what she researched and learned and what she recommends. in her own words, her process in a nutshell is "starve it, stop it spreading, THEN snuff it out," which she writes in her intro. She offers a ten-step process to accomplishing this which she lays out in the book as well. HIGHLY recommend! Her book also contains many resources including a website rich with information, podcasts, courses, and websites to help you find a doctor in your area that follows her methodologies. Not sure? I'd say get the book and read what she has to say. Might not be for you, but I think it's an incredibly sensible approach that I intent to pursue. I've read a lot of books about cancer treatment; books on what to eat, what supplements to take, etc. I've read more articles than I can count about promising testing and approaches, etc. But this by far offers the most in terms of how I can help myself put forth my best effort toward fighting this disease with *specific* things I can do to help myself. It offers hope as well - and while it is no cure, it helps you make it another day and another and another in the hopes that one has an opportunity to see actual progress and perhaps even success.

I hope this book catalyzes changes in oncology care
I have bought and read countless books and articles on cancer treatment since my sister was diagnosed 4 years ago with ovarian cancer, and this one stands alone in its usefulness with strategies to really turn the oncology world on its collective ear. All practitioners, whether allopathic or naturopathic and every approach in between, can offer real benefit to their patients if they will use the information that Jane has exhaustively dug up and shared in this book. My sister has had several go rounds with chemo, was in a clinical trial that probably wasn't of benefit, gets weekly Mistletoe and IV Vitamin C, and she started the Care Oncology Clinic (COC) protocol in February 2018. She hasn't achieved remission in several years, but her cancer has mostly been stable (up until this past PET scan) and her oncologist has called her his miracle patient on more than one occasion - this since starting the COC protocol, which helps the chemo. She stayed on that chemo regimen (Taxol) for 15 months. Now that it has apparently stopped working, we are working on a new strategy. This with her Naturopathic Doctor and her oncologist. The good news is, even though her cancer has grown, it is happening slowly and her quality of life is good. We definitely attribute her entire regimen to this, as we often hear of cancers exploding once they evade treatment. The gist is that there are many drugs designed for other purposes that incidentally kill cancer, most of them well known and studied, and safety profiles are well established. The COC protocol includes 4 of those drugs, but Jane presents many more options beyond those 4, and details the ones that saved her life, and describes how she came to find these drugs. She also used quite a few supplements, and she explains these as well. Her journey happened before the days of widespread internet use - she didn't have the luxury of just "Googling" for answers. Her success was no trivial accident and her tenacity in digging for information is truly amazing. The fact that she put her journey and her findings into a book for the world to learn from is a blessing, as is the fact that she is still actively involved and still digging for more answers. Jane's story of surviving stage IV cancer twice is inspirational, but more than that, she lays out in her book a map of sorts to help the reader create a regimen that attacks cancer metabolically from all pathways. It's definitely a work in progress - there is a Facebook group created to work on the puzzle as a community, and so much more is becoming known about repurposing drugs to attack cancer. I have already given a copy of this book to my sister's oncologist, who is surprisingly receptive to it, and her Naturopath already read it and is incorporating some of it into her treatment. The cocktail is still evolving, and this book is a big part of the foundation from which we are working to attack her cancer.

This Addresses Cancer from a Metabolic Perspective
This book addresses cancer as a methodology of blocking metabolic pathways for cancer cells. By blocking these biochemical reactions inside the cells, the cancer cell can be starved and weakened. Setting it up for the kill phase called Ferroptosis. The book is very comprehensive and detailed, almost 500 pages. If you have a weak background in chemistry, you will find the book a bid tedious. The book delineates the many metabolic pathways that cancer cells use to conduct cellular activities, ie., to grow, nourish, divide, etc. As there are many pathways to block or inhibit, there are may options in the way of off-market drugs and natural herbs that can perform the task of inhibiting these pathways and thereby starving the cancer. Conventional treatments of radiation and chemotherapy have been largely unsuccessful for many. These treatments may kill only the fast-dividing cancer cells, but not the stem cells. Often the damaging effects of the treatment are worse than the disease and will kill you quicker than the cancer. So therefore more natural and less harsh treatments are desired for a growing number of people. I highly-recommend this book as a source for alternative treatment methods. The author, having survived some horrendous cancer, is a living testament that her methods have worked for some.

Thought-Provoking Look at Cancer Metabolism
I love this book. This book offers an intriguing exploration of cancer treatment by focusing on metabolic weaknesses and the emerging concept of ferroptosis. The ideas are explained clearly for me to understand, you don't need a scientific background to read this. Some of the ideas and perspectives don't go along with conventional medical approaches, but the book encourages critical thinking and more research. Great read for anyone interested in innovative cancer science. Probably best viewed as educational, and not medical advice.

HALT your cancer!
This book is fantastic. It is a guidebook for the journey we are all taking. It took us two years to discover this guidebook. The book provides a framework (a model) that allows us to understand what to do. It is amazing that Jane did a major part of this research without the internet. There are many articles available that state that a given supplement is good to take for cancer, but these articles do not give insight into why, or how to use them, or which cancer, or what else is needed.. The book gives us this insight. Reading the book is the first thing you should do, so buy and read it immediately if you have not done so already.! We have found it useful to buy at least 4 copies of the book. The first is for you and your family to read. The second and third copies are for your doctor and your oncologist. Most of the information in the book will be new to them even though supporting research is available. Most do not have the time to keep up with the research. Most are wired into the โstandard plan of treatmentโ which does not include the use of off label drugs and supplements (and probably does not lead where you want to go). You will need their support at some point so it is good to get them onboard. The fourth copy should be the Kindle version available from Amazon for $4.49. (Most computing platforms support a Kindle reader.) The advantage of the electronic version is that it gives you extensive search capabilities that allow you to use the book as a reference book. Yes, the last half of the book is difficult for most of us to understand, but it is critical to put it to use. All we really need to understand is that there are many known pathways that can be used to fuel each cancer, and there are known supplements and off label drugs that can help block those pathways. There is a Facebook group available for more information and assistance. Janeโs action plan and metabolic cocktail give you a way to HALT your cancer. HALT the cancer? The book gives us is HOPE. It allows us to start sleeping at night again as we realize we are no longer helpless. But hope is not a plan! The book provides an ACTION plan, giving us the tools and knowledge to arm us for the fight ahead. You must take action. The book shows how to continue to LEARN by suggesting how to go about searching the internet for more information. You will find an amazing amount of research is ongoing in this area. The book allows us to THRIVE if not triumph. We donโt have to cure the cancer, just hold it at bay so we can lead normal lives. Yes, HALT the cancer! Buy and read the book. You will not regret it!

PRACTICAL SOLUTION AND GOOD FOR THE SOUL
Every time I've picked up Jane's book I've shed a few tears of joy. I felt that someone can relate. I am not the cancer patient but the care giver to my best friend and the love of my life. I'm the rock, the researcher, the planner, the one with the solutions but I was scared and this book pacified my doubts. Before Jane's book I was partially winging it and crossing my fingers and praying that all of what I've lined up for my husband will work. I pressed the "I believe" button regarding metabolic theory but Jane's book tied it all nicely for me. It plugged the missing holes how to starve it and most importantly what to use and how to do it. I felt so alone and neurotic scouring through scientific studies and spending countless hours researching. Jane did the research for you. You have to do some legwork but provides a clear roadmap. The despair, the anger, the hope, the plan, the future; it's all in this book. Every cancer patient, care-giver, a loved one should read this. Not only will it help you with a plan, it helps your soul. You will be able to relate with her stories. After reading it, I said to my husband, if Jane (as if I know her) can beat her cancer with 12 weeks to live, we should be able to beat yours.

Good charts
The last part of book has all the info on how to starve cancer. Though rather technical. Good charts. For me too much of her story. I wanted to know how to starve cancer without reading 5/6 of book to get to the how to

A life saver
This book is very important for all cancer patients and their families! Read the second part of the book first, to learn about the recepies, intermittent fasting, and exercise. Then read the first part to learn how the author suffered, came to the insights presented in the book, and healed herself. I follow the advices as much as I can and my CT scans show a major improvement, as both my cancer and the metastasis shrank in size by more than 50% in 6 weeks! In short: 1. no sugar, sweets, bread, rice, potatoes, noodles (this is hard, but stubborn=disciplined patients can do it), 2. intermittent fasting for 12, 16, and 24 hours and then for 3 days, drinking a lot of green tea and water, but no more coffee!, and 3. mild and frequent exercise, such as long walks (preferably nordic walking), rowing, and biking, if possible right after meals.

Amazing book on how to heal your body
One of the most amazing books I've read on cancer care. I can't say enough about all the research Jane did on her journey. Without this book I would be lost in the medical wording of all the documents she had to go through.

Essential Reading for Those with a Cancer Diagnosis, and their Oncologists!
Jane's story of remission from Stage IV cervical cancer is truly inspiring and engaging and will bring hope to anyone in the same situation. Jane's story is also very much more than a biography of a radical remission. It's a detailed and knowledgeable summary of the path she took with repurposed drugs, and how and why they worked to halt the cancer in its tracks. Jane delves deep into relevant research, and has devoted herself to working out the detail of how the metabolic approach she employed herself, can help with other types of cancer. This makes the book a unique offering which empowers people with any cancer diagnosis to follow suit. Cancer is multi-factorial and it's clear that it's a combination of things which enable some people ( like Jane) to overcome a ' terminal' diagnosis. There are no magic bullets or miracles. Jane's story illustates the sheer determination, will and dedication that underpins her ability to confound her prognosis, and the groundbreaking and remarkable contribution of repurposed drugs, which were at the time of Jane's diagnosis, on the very periphery of knowledge. She sought them out and she's a true pioneer, and now a powerful voice for this approach to become widely known, to develop further and to change the face of modern cancer treatment. I'm a cancer survivor, a retired RN, and a mentor qualified to help those with a cancer diagnosis who want to follow an integrative treatment plan...and I have no hesitation in recommending Jane's book to anyone in a 'spot of bother' ( as Jane endearingly describes her diagnosis) and suggesting that they consult the oncologists at the Care Oncology Clinic who research and prescribe these drugs in their practice.

Excellent!!!
I think every cancer pacient, their doctors and love ones needs to read it and take control of their lives. Medicine needs to change the approach and it is our responsability to achieve it

The best!
No wonder this book won many prizes, among which a gold award and 'best cancer book' award. I spent many many hours reading about cancer and how to shrink tumors or even heal. This book has the best method imo. It is very comprehensive. It brings many methods and theories together and explains why sometimes results are contradictory and confusing. For example: some people have great success with a keto diet causing remission, yet others don't or they have success and then a huge rebound. That's because not all cancers use glycolysis for energy and many cancers can switch to another fuel source when deprived of their main one for a long time. Best is to block multiple fuel sources with diet, supplements and off label meds. Also intravenous vit.C for example only works when done the right way. The book helps you tailor your approach to your specific cancer type and even better: your specific manifestation of it. The hardest part is likely to get doctors to do certain tests at your request or to prescribe off label meds. On the How to starve cancer website there is a list with some doctors who are on board with the protocol. The Oncology Care Clinic uses a protocol thatโs very similar, so they can be consulted too. All in all, this is the best book on the subject, it's empowering and gives hope. You do need to have a certain level of understanding, it can be quite complex, and my background in Nutrition & dietetics certainly helped me. You will need to google many things, either to understand, to find out the metabolic phenotype of your cancer for example, or to look up dosages of supplements (she mostly does not recommend dosages) and their contra-indications and possible interactions etc. I like the website Orthokennis for this. It's Dutch, but you can right-click and 'translate to...'
