HEY PEOPLE AN OK SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING AT ALL!
There are so many failed TV series that NEVER make it to DVD. I have a favorite show that aired from 1977 to 1978 whch had at best 12 episodes. It's never seen the light of day and certainly not DVD release. Wolf Lake: The Complete Series did include all the episodes of the series aired. Many times the music is tangled up in legal nightmares which forces the post production companies to ADD new music so what. It would be best if we had the music in all the DVD's that was aired originally but sometimes that just is not possible. Sometimes people who write music just want too much so their music is edited out and replaced by suitable substitute content. I'd rather listen to different music and have Wolf Lake: The Complete Series in my DVD collection when the alternative is to never enjoy this fine series at all. Many times you see once loved series butchered on cable to fit in ninty thousand commercials. All in all I think Wolf Lake: The Complete Series is pretty good. As for Wolf Lake: The Complete Series not being in High Def again so what. I'm just happy to have the Wolf Lake: The Complete Series even without the High Definition Blue Ray Quality Experience. I've seen the DVD's and they are easily watchable in quality. The Wolf Lake: The Complete Series does end in a cliff hanger due to sudden termination of the series but I look at that as a mixed blessing. I get to determine how the series ends or goes on using my own imagination. I am a child of the 1960's so I am one of those rare few who still has an active vivid imagination. Just because the credits rolled on the last disk with unfinished story arcs and plotlines does not mean my imagination can't take over to provide an ending that satisfies me. If you want a suitable ending to Wolf Lake: The Complete Series then just use your imagination that's what I did. You might be out of practice but, I'm sure with a little effort you can fire up your imagination and figure out the ending to Wolf Lake: The Complete Series that best suits your personal take on this fine bit of acting that too soon was cancelled.Don't get me wrong I am an old man and love to complain but there are times when I get something that might not be perfect but it is good enough! Sometimes when I get something that is good enough I just buy it and run like the wind! Besides why should I care so much about High Definition Video when in my middle 50's I am developing low definition eyes! <SMILES!> Carry on Troops! Life is a Party, I'll bring the Tappioca Pudding!

Try Wolf Lake if you love X Files, Twin Peaks, Team Jacob, even Northern Exposure - With Werewolves!
Wolf Lake was never given a chance to thrive as a series on network TV, but it arrived fully formed and ahead of its time, with a ready made world of rich characters, fresh stories and a family of excellent actors. The premise was a familiar one - main character, fresh from the big city arrives in a small town, a tight knit community bound together by its history and culture. It just so happens that their culture is lycanthropy!Lou Diamond Phillips excels as the fish out of water lead character whose police skills are put to the test to solve the mystery of his missing girlfriend. I like to think if the series had continued he would have become more of an insider in the community. The existing episodes are filled with horror, humor, and family drama. The super talented Trio of Tim Matheson, Bruce McGill, and Graham Greene really sell the concept as the leaders of the adult community and the cast is rounded out by a group of outstanding young actors too.The dvd itself arrived in shiny new condition and plays perfectly. I'm only sorry that more extras weren't available, it would have been fun to have some commentary from the principals. But it's still a great journey to take if you enjoy this kind of story - definitely recommended! You'll "flip!" :)

So Much Fun!!!
I love this short series! Fun, dramatic, exciting, sexy and campy all at once. I have a serious crush on Lou Diamond Phillips, and he is just gorgeous in this! Rest of the cast is great, too. Was a little disappointed in the series finale. Like the writers didn't know it was being cancelled and couldn't draw everything to a close. Special feature: original pilot that never aired. I liked it, too. Highly recommend for entertainment and wolfie goodness. 🐺❤

I love Wolf Lake
I watched the series from the beginning. I can't believe that the series was cancelled. The network did not advertise the show as it should have. Wolf Lake was also before its time. It would be a hit if it was shown today. The series should have aired for years. The fans were left hanging. John now has the blood of the White Wolf, and Sophia's father knows that his daughter is a wolf. What! Leaving the fans hanging was terrible. Lou Diamond Phillips is amazing. The story is magical. The series is one of my favorites. Lou Diamond could easily continue where he left off. I wish the series would be restarted.

Could Have Been a Contender ...
I wish they had of finished making episodes long enough to give this series a good ending; as it is it ends on a cliff hanger. I really liked the storyline between the teen stars (one now stars in The Vampire Diaries!). Honestly I'm not sure why Lou Diamond Phillips was considered the star. The story between him and his runaway girlfriend was secondary in my point of view. Of course, if you watch the pilot episode, it started out to be a completely different show... weird... did they include that to confuse us? This doesn't sound like a favorable review but even with it's problems Wolf Lake was enjoyable. If they had of reworked those problems like they reworked the whole concept from the pilot episode to episode 2, the show could have lasted as long as those other teen creature shows like Buffy and Angel.

Great show about a werewolf pack and the detective who stumbles across their town!
I bought this DVD expecting a bit of cheese, but really curious about the plot. As it focuses on a pack of wolves I thought it would be a bit different than the usual horror-slant, and a pack would make for some interesting character relationships and dynamics. And I got exactly what I wanted! There is cheese - in that the main plot is a detective (Kanin) tracking down his fiancee (Ruby) who went missing, and the trail leads to her hometown of Wolf Lake. Cue intense stares into the distance, hallucinatory episodes, and him hearing her voice on the wind (I kid you not). There are also some rather cute slow mo bits, which seem to be an attempt to add tension. That said, I was pleasantly surprised with how understated the werewolf effects were. Mainly glowing eyes and actual animal footage, instead of half-man half-beast prosthetics. It was nice, because often such shows put too much effort into demonstrating how different the supernatural are.I really loved how this show focuses on the pack, and again it was really subtle. They have a whole established hierarchy, pack rules and customs...and they let the bulk of it go unexplained. The werewolves are a bit of an open secret around town - the humans know the people on the hill are special, and quite a few know about the wolves due to them marrying into the pack. Because of that it's quite easy to pick up on bits and pieces from different characters' perspectives; even as the town is actively keeping the wolves secret from Kanin, their world is wide open to the viewer. There's plenty of different character relationships to enjoy, and although the start of the show focused on Kanin and Ruby, I wouldn't say they're the main story. I think that is really about the alpha of the pack, who is dying from cancer, and the politics and machinations to choose his successor.I've tried not to give too much of the plot away in this review, so I'll just finish by saying that you definitely get an eclectic mix of characters, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The other reviewers are right in saying this show was cancelled too soon, but I would definitely recommend watching it despite that!

Good performances all round from the cast
What a shame this series didn't get chance to hit it's stride before it got cancelled. It was a bit of a slow starter but was gradually building up a head of steam. Good performances all round from the cast, and a few familiar faces including "whatshisname" from the "Vampire Diaries".
