HD Audio Passthrough to old AVR
I don't write reviews often...let me preface that I ordered 5 other 4K splitters at the time of need and this particular model (including another U9 model) was the nicest build. The material is metal (as opposed to some being plastic) and all of the connections being on one side is a plus. With some other units, I had cables going in and out on both ends and it made for an awkward placement in my media cabinet. There are very bright blue indicator lights that are ALWAYS on when the unit is plugged into power. This was remedied by a piece of black electrical tape. My need for this product was because I have a 2009 Pioneer AVR that only includes a 1080p output back to the tv. As such, I needed to be able to split my 4K video signal from my Nvidia Shield Pro (2019 model) to both my 4K Dolby Vision TV (Sony X900H) and also passthrough the HD audio (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA) to my receiver for processing. The bottom of the unit has printed scenarios and indicates the various rocker switch configurations depending on your needs. My setup above required the 4th configuration. In summary, I had to push the EDID switch down from "AUTO" to "OUT1" and the "AVR" switch and the "4K TO 1080p" switch needed to be ON. Once I did that the Shield/TV indicated that Dolby Vision was available and asked if I wanted to use it. After a few seconds, the Shield properly output Dolby Vision to the TV. I was able to check this in both Disney+ content and also files I have on my media server playing back within Kodi (Leia 18.9 build). I've watched a few films thus far on the Kodi and finished watching WandaVision on Disney+ and the U9 ViewHD UHD1X2SA simply works. It allows me to continue receiving HD audio from my older AVR while getting the best picture possible from my Shield and 4K TV. I reached out to customer service twice as I was unsure of which model I needed to buy in order to get the results above. I received an email the same day and was told the ViewHD UHD1X2SA was the way to go for my setup. The customer service even went as far as calling me to discuss my setup at length. Upon receiving the unit I didn't get the rocker switches correct and reached out to customer service once more. They advised the same day how they needed to be set up and I was good to go. I would highly recommend the ViewHD UHD1X2SA if you need a high quality 4K splitter with great customer service at a very good price.

Really, Really, very good!
I buy a whole bunch of these little converter boxes, this is by far the highest build quality I've ever gotten. Additionally this is the greatest way to fix encryption error on the PS3 at 1080p 60 hertz. the PS3 cannot output more than that meaning that this is the absolute best solution for streaming your PlayStation 3 I would only ever recommend this product. as another commenter said make sure you get the right one I purchased the u9 viewHD 2 Port 1x2.

Very nice quality and easy to use
I bought this because I wanted to extract audio while also splitting an HDMI source to multiple devices. It works very well for that. The audio is perfect and the sound sync is flawless. Those are the two biggest things I was looking for. The build quality is very nice and the dip switches were relatively easy to understand. The only minor complaint I have is that when only one TV is on, it changes the device type to whatever that TV is. That could be a positive for other people though. It's a problem for me because of the delay in switching over when a device is turned on or off. My orei 1x4 hdmi splitter handles these scenarios a lot better, but doesn't have an audio extractor. I may ultimately stop using this and just get a separate audio extractor but I don't necessarily fault this product for not being able to completely meet my niche requirements.

HDCP stripping capability
I am writing this review to help clarify the HDCP stripping capability of some U9 ViewHD products. Notice that the โCapacityโ description in the Amazon review headers vary, since reviews for different U9 ViewHD products are grouped together. This grouping can lead to confusing one productโs capabilities with anotherโs. (Hence the need for spelling out the model description in the review.) I have tested three U9 ViewHD products and here are the results. โViewHD 2 Port 1x2 Powered HDMI 1 in 2 Out Mini Splitter for 1080P & 3D | Model: VHD-1X2MN3Dโ โ purchased in 2017, passed through HD signal without HDCP in the output. (Nice.) โU9 ViewHD Latest 4K 1x2 HDMI Splitter 1 in 2 Out EDID Xbox PS3/4 Roku Chromecast Shield Fire Stick Apple TV Blu-ray Dual Monitor Display | Model: U9-Plutoโ - purchased in 2020, passed through HD signal without HDCP in the output. Note, the USB power input for the U9-Pluto model is only needed in some applications (not sure which), and this splitter will work without the power supply for other applications. Mine worked without the power supply to split a 1080i, 5.1 audio signal. โViewHD UHD1X2SA 1 in 2 Out 1x2 HDMI 2.0 HDCP 2.2 Splitter with 4K to 1080P Down Scaler and Audio Extractor | 4K@60Hz | HDR Dolby Vision | 3.5mm / Optical and HDMI Audio Output to HDMI AVR Receiverโ - purchased in 2020, passed through HD signal with the HDCP info in the output. So with the UHD1X2SA model, you may get a blank screen with some applications due to the HDCP. Perhaps this is what is meant by โDoes not bypass HDCPโ or โHDCP compliantโ. Note that all three devices worked well for their designed purpose and had a good build quality. The VHD-1X2MN3D purchased in 2017 is still working (in Nov 2020).

Great Solution for My Needs
I had an issue with my ROKU which I used to feed a home theater projector. I needed to strip audio from the HDMI to send it to my sound system so I obtained an audio extractor. This worked fine but every few minutes, the video would loose lock and completely break up for about 5 seconds (an HDMI issue I'm sure). I isolated it to the extractor but rather than replace the extractor, I purchased the U9 splitter. Now I have video going through the splitter to my projector and the splitter copies and reports the EDID from my projector to the ROKU which makes it work flawlessly (the U9 allows one to select which input source EDID is copied and relayed to the source device). The other U9 output goes to the audio extractor which also works without issues. An added plus is that when receiving Pandora, I can turn my projector off and HDMI is maintained so I can continue to extract music audio for Pandora. I plan to get another for a separate system which feeds a 3D display along with a non-3D display. It has the issue that I have to disconnect the non-3 display to use the 3D display because of EDID issues.. With this splitter copying and producing a selected EDID, I should be able to leave both connected and use the 3D display. To conclude, this splitter is packaged nicely, appears to have advanced operational features not found in other HDMI splitters, and comes well packaged with a power cable (though lacking a power supply).

The show must go on.
This review is for U9 ViewHD 2 Port 1x2 Powered HDMI 1 in 2 Out Mini Splitter for 1080P & 3D | Model: VHD-1X2MN3D. This item arrived on time and in great condition. I really love this device and I hope they keep making it. I have bought two of these and they are very necessary for what I need them for. A lot of consumer electronics today talk to each other. And at least one of the pieces of information that they share with each other is whether media that is being played on them is copyrighted. If so, then they will not pass the copyrighted media data between them. I am very much for protecting copyrights. However, when I produce a video that has my copyright it will not let me play that as well. At my church, we live stream our church service and we have procured the license for all of the music that is played in the live stream production. I have not problems there. However, when my church asks me to create a video about some event at the church, I should be able to play it in the live stream since I own the copyrights. However, there is no facility between the devices to ask me to enter some code to play my videos. It just does not play anything with a copyright. This was a great try to stop piracy, but sorry no cigar will be awarded. But one day, in a review about this item, I was told that it does not allow the devices to communicate. Thus, they do not realize the media has a copyright and I can play my videos without a problem. Other devices like this allow the communications. This is the only one I have found that does not. Therefore, if you are having this problem, please put one of these devices between your electronic devices and then just obey the copyright laws with stuff that you do not have the right to display. I hope some day they will fix the communications between the devices to allow the users of the devices to indicate whether they have the right to show the media.

It works with the PS3 & Retrotink combo ;)
It ACTUALLY WORKS for removing HDCP on PS3! Donโt waste your money on ebay boxes or anything else. Get this now while it works! With a Retrotink the picture difference is really worth the trouble. Donโt settle for component! This gets it looking just right. Also do NOT output PS3 settings from 720. Some people & google says the Retrotink upscales better from 720 than 1080. It absolutely does NOT! Set PS3 to output 1080 then let the Retrotink upscale.

Worked once, then never again.
I used the product one time so that I could capture footage from a PlayStation TV. It worked alright the first time. A few months later I tried it again (it was safely in storage in my office, nothing should've affected it), and now it doesn't power on.

Works great
Easy to use, read the instructions for 2160p and 1080p screens setups, once you understand how the setup works, it works seamless. Have 4k max fire stick plugged directly into input and working on 3 screens seamlessly

Bypass HDCP
I had got this item for the seller to use to bypass my HDCP and it worked for my PS3. Hopefully this helps buyers and the seller. Thank you very much for selling me a product that does what it decribes.
