This book has been written for those who are interested in deepening their understanding of the practice of family constellations. Many might ask whether this practice hasn't already been detailed in Hellinger's own books and videos. This book is a response to many practical questions of therapists and coaches. When I speak about the 'art' and 'craft' of the work, I am using these terms in the old sense. To become a painter, you have to master colours, techniques, perspective, etc. That is the master craft which the art requires. The more finely trained the craftsmanship, the more masterly will be the result of a new expression or theme. Art and depth of expression are not things which can be learned, but craftsmanship is. In addition to the few artists who truly break new ground, we have to also recognise the great number of learned practitioners of the arts. They have mastered their craft to such an extent that there is depth and expression in their work, even though they may not have developed a new, revolutionary style. In my training programme for constellation facilitators, a core of material has emerged which I pass on to those in training as a basic foundation for practising this craft. From the feedback in these groups, I am confident that this is a solid basis for the work with constellations. Review: Wow. Great read - Thia book was an amazing read. Wow. Great read
Thia book was an amazing read. I'm just at the end of my first module and this book was fascinating. The emphasis of the is on constellation, mostly from the facilltator's point of view. The book is readable, thorough, and the author is highly experienced. Another thing I really liked in the book is that it gives lots of examples to every principle mentioned in the book. I would not recommend the book to people who haven't done a course or at least been through many constellations as representatives. For a book that clarifies the theory of Constellations I'd recommend Indra Preis's book 'Family Constellations Revealed'.

Concise and clear. A great resource for the facilitator of Systemic Constellation.
Although I have never had the pleasure of working with Bertold Ulsamer, I really love this book. The writing is concise and clear, which is sometimes difficult when describing this method which mostly unfolds inside the body of the participant. Heartily recommended. perfect introduction to family constellations
Having only recently been introduced to Family constellation therapy I was very impressed with how Bertold Ulsamer used the same principles to walk the reader through the book. I will definitely reread this several times as I certainly feel I will gain clarity on how to be proficient at this beautiful work.

Good fundamentals no real detail...
This book offers a good `rule of thumb' concept for anyone familiar with Hellinger's Family Constellation work. There are many applicatory suggestions and context throughout the book which are easily applied to the practical use of Constellation work. I recommend this book to those who have a basic understanding of Hellinger's work but are looking for basic guidelines within this work as a Practitioner/Therapist. It would also be a good reference for those Practitioners who may want to simplify or `get back to the basics' of Hellinger's work. The author truly seems to respect and understand Hellinger's intentions for the work and that is shown throughout the book. Ultimately I feel the practical use of this book lies mostly in the understanding that it is a basic `guideline' for the `leaders/therapists'. If you are looking for a book that offers detailed procedure or application of Family Constellation this is not going to satisfy that need. This book is ideally written for the `therapist' or practitioner and thus not one I would recommend for individuals who have attended a constellation and are looking for more insight. It is very easy to understand and a quick read with basic fundamentals of the practice. For a more in-depth look at constellation however I would look elsewhere.

Good book
If you just heard about constellations this is a good book to learn all aspects about it and decide if you are ready to do one.

Highly rewarding!
A knowledgeable and humble mind and heart sharing what he knows about constellations from a wide experience of them. Nothing is held back. The book is in two distinct sections, the Art and then the Craft. It's filled with examples from practice and most sub-sections have a largish quote from Hellinger on it. A warm appreciation or blessing for the book from Hellinger appears at the front. I've offered fewer constellations than I've witnessed, the book gave me what I needed to go out and do more. Friendly and hands on! I'll read it again and probably again.
