Sloppy weld, cheap price, works 100%
I love this ladder. It's installed on a 6' x 12' floating plastic-barrel dock. I'm 6'4" 270# and I can use this ladder comfortably. Before this ladder, it was pretty messy getting back up onto the dock after a swim. One of the parts bags was opened so there were nuts, bolts, and washers all over the place but they were all there. In fact, there were extra nuts, bolts, and we got 2 extra rubber end caps which I'll throw away in a few years. The whole box was shrink wrapped in plastic to protect everything during shipping. Smart idea! The ladder? It's not perfect but it's $100 cheaper than what I was going to spend. The sloppy welds indicate the Chinese use drunks, children, prisoners or mentally ill for their welders. A lot of the aluminum surfaces are scratched probably from packaging the pieces in plastic instead of Styrofoam. There was no Styrofoam used in the packaging. Weird but I guess it keeps the costs down. Oh yeah, you'll need a file to take down the pointy corners of those stairs. Scratches, sharp points, open nut bag, extra parts, cheap price, this is 5 stars all the way!!!!

I'm all set for my summer swims!!
Just came in from a 1/2 mile swim. Our northeastern PA lake was 70 degrees. Brrr! But, what a pleasure to go in and out of the lake on such a nice set of stairs. We have the 4 step "out of the water" set. Our last set broke during last winter when the lake was frozen and the water level in the lake had to be lowered several feet. The ice held on to the former steps and the ice won. As one reviewer said, "no algae forms on steps" when raised. Yea! For years I would dive down and scrub off the algae covered slippery steps with a hand brush. No more. Now, the easy "pull up steps" (I am a 75 year old woman) come out of the water after each swim. No algae and no ice damage any more. Last set of "broken off" steps, had screws that stuck out from the side hand rails. We had to cut them away. Not with our new slick 4 step heavy duty steps. Smooth and Solid and not Chintzy!!! Only problem we have to solve is that we had to place the steps closer to the edge of the dock then recommended. The reason was the vertical facing board is too deep. My toes would hit the side board on the first step from the top. So we moved the steps closer to the edge. We still have to stop the steps from leaning inward so my toes aren't going higher than my heels. Normally the steps would hit the vertical dock side board and stop, but I asked the installer to put the steps further out. We are going to stop the steps on the top of the dock via bolts and build the dock up so the horizontal part of the stairs when in the lake will be supported. It works now under my temporary "lift". As the young installer said, "I have put in quite a few steps in pools and docks. This is one of the nicest set of steps."

This company worked with me to create a two step ladder for littles and older folks.
Fabulous customer service, reaching out to double check the measurements and shipped within 2 days! Strong and sturdy and flips up as required by our regulations. This company worked with me to create a two step ladder for littles and older folks to go from dock to lake bed.

Good Product, Reputable Seller
I am revising my original rating (2-star) and review (in {} below) based on the prompt remediation made by Ortus Enterprises. Ortus took swift action by sending replacement hardware and refunding a portion of the purchase price (to defray installation labor). I will install the new hardware as soon as possible and update this review when the hardware has had time to prove its resilience. I would make future purchases from Ortus Enterprises as they clearly stand behind their products. {Everything about the ladder was as expected in terms of its composition, manufacture quality, and ease of assembly and installation. However, after less than two weeks, I noticed significant rust around all the nuts and bolts. The hardware supplied was supposed to have been stainless steel. It is either really poor quality stainless--or not at all. I do not keep the ladder in the salt water (hence the flip-up feature) and some portions never touch the water, so the rust occurred in ambient conditions. I have sprayed the hardware with three coats of acrylic in an attempt to mitigate the damage. Time will tell whether or not this was a worthwhile effort. I have not contacted the seller as whatever remedy they may propose (e.g. replacement or new hardware) will require more labor on my part to solve the issue than was required in the initial installation. This product had great potential, but became an enormous disappointment.}

Fantastic ladder.
The ladder is fantastic, it takes about 30 minutes to assemble with simple hand tools and another 10-15minutes to install on your dock. The quality of the dock ladder itself is great, the only part that i found less than 100% perfect were the welds.. Dont get me wront they are completely functional and solid some just looked a little sloppy, otherwise this ladder is a perfect flip up dock ladder that is easy to assemble and easy to install. I would buy again in a heartbeat.

Quality Ladder
This is a very sturdy ladder. We were missing some bolts when it came which was irritating, but I emailed them and they sent them priority mail, so no problem. My husband put it together without reading the instructions, so we know it's not too hard:) The steps are four inches wide and 16 inches long, which was important to me, and makes it more like steps than a ladder. I shopped a long time before I bought this ladder, and the good price was one of the reasons I chose it. I was afraid it would be cheaply made, but this is not the case at all. This ladder looks more sturdy than the other ladders I have seen on the river in this area. Ladder was installed on a floating dock.
