Boar Bristle & Nylon Pin Hair Brush for Thick, Curly & Wavy Hair

My DH packed away my 17 year old holy grail of brushes, the hard to find pink Mason Pearson Popular-Sized Mixed brush, during a remod. After drilling him with questions on how carefully but out of reach he packed away this object I treated as my inanimate first-born (I named her Princess Katerina of the Hair Fairies (I really didn’t but I could have and WOULD have if I had thought of it)), I realized I needed a hair brush. Mom to the rescue! After giving this Beauty by Earth brush to me as a gift, my mother proved once again that mother knows best. I excitedly recieved it but in the back of my head, there was a tiny voice saying (screaming), "I WANT MY @¡$¿! MASON PEARSON BACK!!!!” I mean, how could ANYTHING even think of rivaling my dear Katerina (if I had named her)? So, with hesitation and trust only in my mother and not this whipping boy of a brush, I started using it. Bob, the name I didn’t name this Beauty by Earth brush, lovingly smoothed my hair. As time passed, I began to forgive my DH (on the surface) for stealing away my precious Katerina and only reminding him about her once or twice a week. My new brush didn’t replace Katerina. It couldn’t. Gone are the delicate nylon bristles that detangle like a unicorn’s breath within a forest of the finest cut of the boar’s hair planted by hand within a a bed of patented cushion, all surrounded by a coast of smooth PINK hand-polished plastic...an icon over 130 years in the making. Bob is a firmer brush with larger pins and more defined tufts. But it isn’t a finishing brush, like the Mason Pearson. You don’t get that timeless polish women have fought to achieve. This brush is a reliable work horse. It gently detangles and unknots even the driest, most built-up mats. Tragically, I finally found my dear Katerina, box discarded, smashed against the zipper of an over-stuffed, soft-sided beauty case, the delicate nylon bristles in one section crimped. I couldn't give her up just because of abuse I negligently allow to occur. So, I continued using Bob while Katerina rested in her own protected nook in my vanity. For over a year I enjoyed the strong care Bob gave me while Katerina slept. One day, I decided I needed to pull her out to maintain and care for my scarred princess. Miraculously, not a bristle was unplaced; not a pin mistreated. I don't know how this happened but I was overjoyed. Once again, Katrina basked under the spotlight on my vanity. Only now, Bob is steadfast beside her. I still enjoy the unique polished finish Katerina lovingly gives my thick mane of medium-fine hair. However, I find my hand reaches for Bob to expertly brush me with his rugged perfection much of the time. Bob is the Rhett Butler with strength and an unrefined constitution that manages to get things done well. Katerina follows, gently, to bestow her timeless polish like the delicate Ashley Wilkes. I ended up purchasing this Beauty by Earth brush for my mom. Her enviably thick hair made up of slightly course strands that flow to the edges of the lowest part of her back has even been improved. This brush softens the course curticle of her hair, turning it into a stunning and natural waves of silk. The price of this brush it so fair. While I still never regret the $205 I finlly paid for my Mason Pearson after years of drooling and deciding, the cost of this Beauty by Earth makes this brush an absolutely must have with no hesitation.

I'm going to slightly flip the script on a rambling recipe blog story. The brush is ah-mazing, especially for the price point. Buy it, as I don't foresee you regretting doing so. Now, the rambling explanation: I have 2a to 2b (Shakespearean, really), fine, red, coarse, frizzy hair. I am a nurse, currently working with COVID patients. My hair is almost always in a bastardized knot of a bun, under a glorified scuba mask, hair net cap, and face shield. I essentially autoclave (steam heat wash) myself after work. I scrub my hair. I usually use conditioner. The wide tooth comb is my utilitarian tool. I comb through a few times, upright, flipped upside down, shake, and then comb upright again. Most nights, I blow dry my hair, using a leave in conditioner/heat protecting spray. Results may vary. I have used a completely nylon tip brush, which, hey, gave me volume, but holy rolling Axel Rose hair. Straight, flat, floof. Frizz deluxe. With me to this point? More detail. I have put this brush through my common scenarios. First, the aforementioned routine, and then brushing with this lovely magic wand. The flip down. The actually mildly pleasant sound of this brush. It almost feels luxurious. And then- the supermodel flip up. I look in the mirror- hair like Ariel! Scenario two: the brave air dry, no leave in. Approximately two hours, and the hair will be brush able. I do follow the recommendation to not use this brush on wet hair. Results? Smoother, tamer, cute wave. Win. Scenario three: air dry, leave in: shiny and smooth, minimal frizz, perfect waves. Still winning. Scenario four: the skipped wash- this one really made this review happen. The skipped wash was post the previous blow dry routine. Wowza! No greasy hair, just smooth, soft, shiny hair. No powder needed. I have had great results by brushing at night and then upon waking. Love it!! It's soothing. My hands are fairly small, but I find the brush easy to hold. It's got a good weight and balance. It did need to air out a night, as it arrived with a slight smell. Spritz of perfume, and a few hours later, it was gone. (Fun trick, makes your hair smell great.) I hope, if you are like me, this review helped fuel your decision. And of course- now it's on sale! Ack.

It does glide through the hair and makes detangling a lot easier. I have long hair. And it fits comfortably in my hand as well. I bought one for myself and then bought two more for my daughters.

Love this brush - it’s so much sturdier than other ones I’ve had. My only complaint is that it’s harder to put my hair up because the handle is so wide.

So I never ever thought I’d be here reviewing a hair brush, but wow! So I have very very thick fine hair, and my hair got even thicker with post partum. I didn’t lose any of the new growth. While that’s great, my hair matted so easily and tangled. I used a tangle teaser for years, and I feel like that only combed through a few layers, and maybe even contributed to some matting. Regular brushes also didn’t cut it, because brushing was just so incredibly painful my scalp would be on fire. This brush has enough heft with the bristles to effortlessly get through every single knot and tangle. My hair feels so soft and full after using this, it feels like I just left a salon. It also helps with shine. I highly recommend this, 110 percent. And this is coming from me, a hair obsessed girl always looking for the best stuff!!! Buy the thing!

This Product is absolutely amazing. I have thin, straight, and very long strawberry blonde hair. Not only does this brush has boar bristles, but plastic, thin ones that detangle hair. As someone with thin hair that gets oily quick, this product has helped me in many ways. Unlike using dry shampoo, using a brush does not leave a residue. This brush in particular collects oily at the roots and distributes evenly across the entire strand of hair. I found it most effective if it is rinsed or soaked ever so often during brushes to avoid oil build up on the brush itself, so it doesn't add more oil instead of spreading it out. Although not as effective as dry shampoo, it does make a difference. It's great for those who are doing the no-shampoo beauty trend. The boar bristles and the bamboo are great at absorbing excess oil. Those with dry hair will benefit, also, since the brush disperses the oils from the root to tip. (Pro-Tip: If oil is a problem, comb by sections so each individual strand is throughly comb through to spread oil from root to tip) I also found it great for untangling hair. I like to brush my hair wet since it's easier to untangle, but this can lead to split ends with normal brushes. I have found with this brush, thanks to it's thin and flexible plastic bristles that it doesn't tug at the hair like other brushes I have tried. The boar bristles themselves really work out surface tangles, little by little, making less hair being pulled out. Also, there is less need for a blow dryer, since it naturally dries your hair of water without damaging it with heat, and also can give that fresh "Blow Out" look achieved usually using a hair dryer by simply brushing the inside of the hair outwards. Great for people have dry, damaged and/or weak hair. It is hard to style wet hair with the brush, however. To combat this, once I have brushed out all the knots and tangles, I use comb (preferably wooden) to part my hair to my liking. Also, if you don't do a pre-shampoo oil mask (plain coconut oil works best) like I do, it can cause some static, but using a pre-shampoo oil treatment or even a dryer sheet (running it down you hair strands) you can prevent this. recommend to anyone with any thin hair type, especially if hair is long. Thick and curly hair, or short hair, might be better off finding a different kind of brush. Curly and/or thick hair would have a problem with this brush since it does add volume to your hair, so if not what you want, I would not recommend this brush.

I love this brush it doesn’t pull on your hair and doesn’t break it . I use every night before I go to bed when I use brush it 40 times

I originally purchased the Boar Brush with Pins in 2021, repurchased again at the end of 2023, and now once more in 2026 so I think that speaks to my love for these brushes. My brush from 2021 was lost during travel. My brush from 2023 lasted me until summer of this year, when the adhesive that holds the brush to the paddle finally started dissolving (which seemed reasonable considering the age of the brush). However, this last brush has not even lasted a month and the adhesive has already dissolved on one side of the brush. Outside of this, another apparent quality difference from this last brush compared to my previous purchases was that there were significantly less boar bristles. I have recommended this brush to several friends in the past but the quality differences in newer brushes are disappointing at best.

Materiali e fattura ottimi. Le setole naturali distribuiscono in modo ottimale il sebo su tutta le lunghezze, lasciando i capelli (asciutti) morbidi e lucenti. Leggera e pratica, sembra poter resistere quasi intatta per molto tempo. Consigliata ha chi ha capelli fragili, crespi e secchi, poiché li pettina delicatamente. Già dopo un solo utilizzo si possono vedere i benefici dati dall'usare una spazzola di qualità, che sembra promettere di poter migliorare la salute dei capelli e della cute se utilizzata regolarmente.

Sehr gute Haarbürste für mein Haar. Ich habe viele, mitteldicke, leicht gewellte und leider schnell fettende Haare. Laut Produktbeschreibung soll man die Haare vor dem kämmen entwirren und auch nicht nass kämmen. Ich entwirre nicht vorher und kämme nass, bis jetzt keinerlei Haarschädigung. Es ziept nicht und kratzt nicht (meine Tochter meckerte auch nicht, wenn ich sie damit kämme). Am Anfang fand ich Borsten etwas hart, aber nach 2,3 mal kämmen fällt es mir kaum noch auf. Meine Haare glänzen schön und liegen besser bzw die Haarstruktur scheint glatter. Das gefällt mir persönlich sehr gut. Dazu kommt, dass sie auch bei „fettigem“ Zustand schön aussehen. Ich wasche sie alle 2-3 Tage und am zweiten Tag fällt der fettigere Ansatz kaum auf. Das reinigen geht sehr gut mit einem Kamm. Sie liegt auch gut in der Habd und hat eine angenehme Größe. Bin mir aber nicht sicher, ob sie für Pixis nicht doch zu groß ist. Meine sind Schulterlang, waren aber zu Beginn der Benutzung eher Pagenschnitt-für beide Längen gute Größe. Einziges Manko: Die Lieferung war länger als angegeben, aber dafür kann weder der gute Händler(welche sogar beim Kunden nachfragt wie die Bürste ist und ob noch Fragen offen sind-sehr gut!) noch Amazon etwas. Das lag am Lieferdienst und den Feiertagen dazwischen. Darum beziehe ich das nicht in die Bewertung! Ich würde die Bürste definitiv wieder kaufen und auch weiter empfehlen. Preis, Qualität und Service-sehr gut!!

Compré 3 diferentes cepillos de jabalí y este es Lo Mejor!!! Es fácil para utilizar, suave y mueve las grasas naturales de tu pelo hasta los puntos. Tengo pelo largo, liso y medio fino, mi hija tiene pelo largo, liso y mucho pelo! Ella le en encanta este cepillo. Mis niños tiene pelo corto y liso y ellos tb prefiere este cepillo. Quiero comprar más!!!

I have fine, wavy hair which is prone to oily roots, dullness, tangles, and hair loss due to stress. I ordered this brush after years of not really caring what I used to brush my hair, since it has always been hard to manage. I read the reviews which sounded really positive and knew I wanted something a bit better than a generic brush. I also liked that this one was made from bamboo and ethically sourced boar bristles. I won’t say this brush is life changing because I think that would be a bit of an exaggeration for any hairbrush, but I have noticed that it has been great for my hair in the month that I’ve had it! It definitely adds shine by distributing the natural oils in my hair, it helps with frizz and it can help me go longer between washes which, if you have fine hair, is pretty amazing. It is also lightweight and does not pull my hair too much when brushing and is soft enough to not poke at my scalp. If you have a similar hair type as me or an oily scalp, I would say this is a good brush for you and worth the money! Good luck on your hair journey!
