Not just for MTB
These are great pedals. After using Look Keos for 13 years, I did something heretical and put these on my road bike. I was tired of the occasional fumbling trying to click into the looks (the bottom of a Keo is like a bar of soap). I was extremely sick of walking around with the massive Keo cleat on the bottom of road shoes. My foot was at an uncomfortable angle, the soft plastic wears quickly, and theyโre treacherous on smooth surfaces. I thought about Speedplays, but those would only solve the engagement point problem. They also have a big cleat and feedback from friends warned that they have too much play. I finally reached the point where I didnโt care what roadie purists thought and bought these pedals. My biggest concern was worrying if these would provide enough of a platform under my foot to keep it stable while pedaling. Happily, that is not a problem. Paired with Giroโs Privateer shoes they are perfectly stable. They come with shims, end cups, and a template so one can adjust them to match a wide variety of soles. The brass cleat is tiny and is tucked up between the tread of the shoes which completely eliminates the duck walk that I hated so much. Some people complain that it wears faster than steel but, compared to soft plastic, it lasts MUCH longer. I donโt worry about it at when Iโm required to hop off the bike and refill a bottle or have a civilized lunch. The spring tension is enough that my foot doesnโt slop around with too much play. It stays straight and clicking in and out is dead simple. Iโm sure these would be great for an XC or gravel/cross bike, but I absolutely love them on my road bike, regardless of what the duck walking road snobs think.

Great pedals
I like the minimalist design, and they work very well for me. (Even if I had to spend a lot of time explaining to non-cyclist friends that, yes, they're supposed to look like that.) The four-sided design makes it easy to clip in from almost any position, and a quick twist is all it takes to clip out. I bought my first pair of these several years ago, shortly after they first came on the market. I've put a pair on every bike I've bought since then. Since the basic design hasn't changed over the years, that means I don't have to change shoes or replace the cleats when I buy a new pair. Pedal preference is a personal thing, but I'd certainly recommend giving these a try.

Excellent quality and warranty service
I have five pairs of CrankBrothers Eggbeater 3 pedals, and one pair of Mallet Enduro. They are light of course, reliable, they spin easily after years of use and I have not done lots of maintenance on any of them. I have them on my Mountain and Road bikes. This review is about their warranty and service. One of the springs in one of the pedals broke recently, after about a year of use and about 5000 miles. I reached out to CrankBrothers, they asked me to mail them the pair of pedals with the proof of purchase, they fixed the pedal, plus they also replaced the end caps on both pedals which I did not asked for. They serviced both pedals and sent them back to me in just a couple of days. This was the best service I have got from a manufacturer in a long time. You donโt find people that cares about your business like this any more. I am writing this review just because of that detail which means a lot to me.

Look great on my litespeed titanium bike. Love the silver color.
These pedals look awesome on my litespeed! I have had crank brothers before and actually had the springs in them break...this was an old crank brothers type but with the small plastic platform around it. That was after a couple of years however of hundreds of miles. I love these eggbeaters over other stuff I've tried..look cleats, and shimano spd stuff, because they allow your feet your feet to pivot a little. I pair these with my litespeed road bike and use shimano mtb style shoes that allows me to walk without ruining the cleats. I've had road shoes with look cleats and hated walking around like a duck. These pedals are perfect for those who are not riding in the tour de france. You can still go fast, and still be efficient, but can walk around like a normal human being if you decide to hit starbucks or a restaraunt in some good mtb shoes.

Great for trail use, but road use can be tricky
I love these pedals for road use. They're lightweight and don't creak or make noise after extended use. They're probably more suitable for trail use though. I've had issues at times clipping in on my road bike since they can be somewhat slippery and I don't always feel comfortable when I'm standing on them because of their limited platform. You don't want to slip on these pedals while you're crossing a busy road.

I love these on my Mountain Bike!
I got these after I got frustrated with my previous pedals getting all clogged up with mud, during my Winter rides. The Eggbeaters have completely solved the problem and are extremely easy to use, very stiff and have a ton of float, so my bum knee doesn't get annoyed. I got the 10 degree release, 6 degree float versions of the cleats, and they are literally perfect for my taste. 100% recommended.

Minimalism doesn't get much better
I upgraded to the Eggbeaters from Candy 2's, and while there isn't a LOT of difference between them, their differences are enough to be appreciated. While the Candies are basically an Eggbeater with a wing platform around them, I don't find that I miss the platform at all now. The Eggbeaters are even more minimalist than the Candies and should shed mud/grit even easier. They're a tiny bit lighter, but I'm not really concerned about that. Getting in and out of the Eggbeaters is about the same as with my old Candies, but since I installed the shim this time, they're even easier now. My only complaints: the left cleat is malformed and allows a bit of vertical play that is felt whilst pulling on the up-stroke. Also, the anodizing on the spring is a nice deep red, but the anodizing on the dust caps is more of a raspberry color. Not a big deal, but noticeable. Aside from those two details, I love these pedals.

Excellent for cyclocross racing
I read some reviews that weren't very positive about the durability of these but I decided to buy them anyway. I race cyclocross and the 4 side entry makes them superior for CX in my opinion, I'm clipped in quicker after the start and after the hurdles. I've also found they clear the mud better. So far no issues with durability but I've only been using them for a few months. Really pleased I went against the negative reviews, I'll be sticking with these from now on regardless of any durability problems, even if they only last a season they are much better for racing.

Work great
Decided to upgrade all my old eggbeaters are finally wearing out after 15 years, not worth rebuilding. I like the upgraded bearings and seals I can tell these are going to last a long time.
