Good Enough
I purchased this for $9.19 to replace the latch assembly in my Wright lockset. My door is common, 1 3/4 inches thick, 2 3/8 inch backset, 1 inch round role and the existing lockset used a square spindle. This latch assembly is for a square spindle. That's important. It was easy to install and fit perfectly. There were some minor differences with this lockset compared to the lockset it was replacing. My "Wright" lockset requires close to a quarter turn to open the door. This lockset only requires 1/8th turn. The "Wright" lockset had a stiffer spring. This lockset turns with less force. I think this one is easier to operate and I prefer the feel. I can't review durability or reliability and I don't have any other locksets to compare it to but for now 5 stars.

Check measurements
The lock will work for the correct locations. Did not work for me. Wrong dimensions

As described. Easy install. Works well
This came as described. Dimensions were accurate in the listing. Simple instal and works as expected.

Poorly made
The keyway hole is way too small, so the doorhandles will not fit through. I had to use a hammer to force it in, which damages the door handle. Once, everything is installed, the door handle, will not turn very far down to open the door. Just a poorly made product.

Specs lacking, out of round, didn't fit standard bore hole or face plate recess.
I'd give the latch 3 stars and overall 2 stars due to the lack of specification provided description. The square spindle opening, as other critical reviews have pointed out, is 1/4". I don't know what's normal but my lever set has 5/16" openings. The second issue is the bore is over 1". Its a stamped part with crimping and although the parts may have been intended to be 1", the fact its slightly out of round with a couple of crimps sticking out, prevents it from fitting in a standard 1" bore hole. You can probably bang it into a typical American door but my doors are solid wood and the latch isn't strong enough to survive being forced into the hole. A third issue is the face plate is also oversize. Another stamped part with sides out of square. I chiseled out enough room to fit it in only to discover it was also too thick (depth) to fit flush with the door edge. Took a mallet to it but my door was too strong and the plate bent rather than sink further into thew door. Basically, don't waste your time with these. Even if you have the tools and skills to re-drill your door and re-router the recess for the face plate its not worth your time. Trashed as I was well past a return period.

very cheap product
Latch face plate is bent sheet metal. The latch hole is width of the plate and much bigger than the latch. Very cheap looks. The latch body is fairly weak construction, exactly the same as the latch I broke. Homedepot has better looking replacement at same price. I'll wait until opportunity comes.

Great replacement for Schlage-style handleset
I used this as a replacement for a neighbor's broken latch mechanism on her older handleset. Local big box shops only seemed to carry the newer style crescent-shaped spindle Kwikset version, so after careful comparison I decided to pick this up as the dimensions matched and the square spindle of the original. This was also well priced and didn't have the needless deadlock functionality since it's not a locking component (normal handle on the outside). It ended up being a drop-in replacement, although the tolerances are tighter on this than on the original, some some finagling was required for fitment. That aside, this is a rock solid replacement if you have a non-deadlock latch with a square spindle, which seems to be 'Schlage-style'.

Great latch that expands to cover either size needed.
Decently made unit which does exactly what it is supposed to.

I purchased this Design House 6-Way Square Spindle Passage Latch but it was to short and I was unable to use the passage latch for my door thanks

Due to the internals having rounded barrel unable to slide in squared hole in door without modification. Went with another. Looks solid construction just not right for what I needed

Works great. Much better build quality than I expected.

Clearly not 5/16 hole. Doesn't fit my handle.
