Fortune Dried Black Fungus Dried Woodear Mushroom (Shredded) 4oz. 特級木耳絲 (Pack of 3 )

This is very good quality. I steep in hot water, then rinse it, as per instructions on package. The strands are a bit long, but break easily before steeping, or cut easily when soft. They add a pleasant, mild, woody flavor and a chewy, crunchy texture to soups, stews, and even pasta meals.

Then I purchased these earwood mushroom I didn't know what to expect...first time user ..I was surprised how they where packaged, shredded and a huge amount in each of the three pkgs... They had a unique earthy taste and a little crunch ... I used them the first time in spring roll filling....the next time I used them in some soup...and the third time in spring rolls again. The third time I let them soak longer and cut them up in 1/2 inch pieces before adding to meat filling. I really enjoyed eating and learning how different ways they can be used.

These mushrooms are high quality and I recommend them. Better than what I have been buying at the Asian markets!

I've always loved black fungus. It's a perfect way to add a crunch and chewiness to dishes. I'm also careful with the source of my food. So far, Fortune seems like a good brand, and Sun Hing a good seller.

My cooking group was making a traditional hot and sour soup and this was one of the ingredients required for the recipe. This product has three bags of dried mushrooms and we barely used half of one bag - so you definitely get a lot of mushrooms! Rehydrating them was easy and the end result was perfect. I was worried that they'd be too chewy or have hard, inedible sections but each piece was delicious and they added a perfect level of complexity to the resulting soup. I definitely recommend this product!

Texture of this fungus is perfect if that's what you're looking to add to your meal. Don't count on the flavor as it is almost non-existent. Recommend for complex texture, cannot recommend for the taste. Note: My experience with Wood Ear mushrooms is limited.
