Great to have on hand to determine if you should polish/ correct auto paint
While not a high end paint meter, it's great to have on hand. It's better to check if you should paint polish/ correct automotive paint. No sense in working the paint if it's too thin. Very easy to use and note, it will not work on plastic bumpers.

Works only on metal.
I bought this to test paint thinkness on a corvette. It didn’t work. Put it on my other car that has metal panels and it works well.

Affordable and work just do not expect perfection. You want perfection then buy the expensive gauge.
It is cheap but it will work to measure the coating thickness on the metal part of any car. Buy this affordable tool if you dont have to be perfect 100%. Very useful to check out the used cars you would like to buy, guys do this before bring the car to your mechanic for a final inspection.

Dead battery upon arrival
Arrived with a completely dead battery. (Look at the “empty” battery icon). The unit shuts off after 5s.

Not the best for precise measurements.
Only reads in increments of .05 or exact mils. Which is not very good for use on customer vehicles. Only bought it because I was in a tight spot and needed one asap. Will be retiring it for a trustworthy gauge instead.

Best bang for the money
Great for every day use and entry level collector. I don't need a 500 dollar meter to know it a car is wrecked or not. If you are inspecting million dollar Ferraris, get the big one, but for sub 100K car this one does the job great for 20 bucks
