If you’ve ever had a stainless steel hose , you KNOW it’s the best hose you still, or have ever owned. Lite weight, easy to maneuver, does not bust, can be run over by cars, trucks, does not crimp, tangle, and stop flow mid watering, stores easily, great for those not trying to wrestle with cumbersome, unproductive, heavy rubber hoses that cause frustration and injury. It remains shiny and glides with ease across all surfaces. Far superior to any hose-type I’ve owned. I have a 150 ft & 50 ft and will have no other kind.

If you are reading this review, that tells me that you are interested in purchasing this hose. Let me give you the short version: Stop reading and BUY the hose! Longer version: Perhaps you are thinking about buying one of those "pocket hoses"? They are OK, but they do have two serious quality issues: They wear very quickly when dragged on the ground, and the thorns on my roses slice them like a hot knife through butter. I purchased the 100-foot hose because...why not? It will not go to waste, and with my luck, if I purchase the 50-foot hose, I will need 52 feet. The hose itself is of outstanding quality. The connector ends are first-class. For the past few weeks, I have beaten on this hose, and it still does not even have a scratch. For storage: I did have an issue storing the hose until I figured out a solution: The hose coils very easily, and it fits very well in a 5-gallon pail (photo). The pail and the 100-foot hose weigh about 5 pounds.

This hose is lightweight and easy to wind up and does not kink. The brass ends and nozzle that comes with the “Pro” version are worth the couple extra dollars.

The non-kink aspect and the brass fittings of this hose are very nice, and it is lightweight and easy to move around. The shut-off valve is a nice feature which compensates for not being able to temporarily shut off flow as with a rubber hose by simply tightly bending/crimping it. However, due to its smaller-than-normal internal diameter, this hose has a smaller-than-normal flow rate. That makes it a poor choice for use with a sprinkler system or without a hose-end sprayer that relies more on pressure than volume. (The instructions say that it works best with a sprayer, but that fact isn't mentioned in the Amazon write-up.) The biggest drawback to this hose is that - despite the picture in the Amazon ad touting it as "Life Proof" by showing a car driving over the hose - it absolutely will not stand up to that kind of outside pressure. It permanently deforms the hose (see my photos) to drive over it with a car (Ford Escape) or even a much-lighter weight lawn tractor (Troy-Bilt), to the point that the flow is reduced. And unlike a top-quality rubber hose, which takes such abuse in stride (at a cheaper price), there is no way to cut and repair this hose once it's messed up. This hose was my first experience with a stainless steel water hose. I bought it as an experiment to see if this type of hose would work for me because it looks like it has some very nice features. I got the 100-foot length since my house is on 2 acres, and I needed a longer hose. I've used it for a week and was genuinely hoping that this hose would deliver, but it's turned out to be inadequate for my needs in terms of its flow. However, its inability to withstand being run over is what makes it totally useless for me, and I don't recommend it for anyone else. My experiment has shown me that this hose is definitely not worth what it costs, and I won't be buying any more. I'm reluctantly going back to my original rubber hoses because they can do what I need a water hose to do at a lower cost.

I use this hose for watering plants and washing cars but do not drag it over your car! I liked the lightweight ease of use. The hose I.D. may be 5/8 inch as stated but the fittings I.D. is more like 5/16 inch. You get pressure or volume at the output end of the hose but not both. Pull back the fitting cover and you will see an impressive array of fittings & hoses. The short clear section is curious in that it cannot be the same as what is under the armor due to the fact that it is the same O.D. as the armor. So what is its function I wonder? The worst feature is the smell of the undrinkable water coming out; a super strong plastic odor! Its no wonder the enclosed literature states "WARNING: THE BIONIC STEEL PRO IS NOT INTENDED FOR DRINKING WATER USE" all in caps! Too bad that bit of information is not in the original advertisement. Quality seems good but have not had it long enough to rate. UPDATE: 3/19/2025, its been just over 3 years of the 5 year warranty. The hose has failed! A major leak internally has rendered it useless. The water just spills out through the steel casing. There is no way to remove the casing to inspect the flexible inner hose. The hose has always been well cared for and stored depressurized on a spool as recommended by the manufacturer. Operating pressure was always 70 to 75 psi. Bell & Howell Support said due to the fact that I live in Hawaii, they will not ship a replacement. They recommended I ask Amazon for customer support which I did. Results are pending. I will update this review accordingly. UPDATE 4/4/2025: After working with Bell & Howell support, Emson sent a replacement hose at no cost except that I had to pick it up in California and I did that. New hose works fine. I never got a response from Amazon so if you are reading this you can disregard. Upgraded to 4 stars.

Great hose but don't ever add a shutoff valve. Even though it was brass it cracked and I couldn't get it off. Tried to cut it off so I could add a repair end but these don't work like rubber hoses for repairs. Once broken they are done.

Love, love, love our new hose. Light weight when I am using it to water my flowers, considering it is stainless steel, it is not HOT with I water as it is on the East side and gets sun most of the day. No more tangles or issues as other hoses. I drain it as I put it on my hose holder. I unwind it before I add water so it is so great to use. Best investment for me in my retirement years.

I started by buying a 30' Bionic hose. It was so great that I bought a 50' one and then a 75' one. The 50 and 75' hoses are their "Pro" ones. I haven't had any trouble with any of them after several months. They are lightweight and they don't kink. I hated dragging around the standard hose, even if high quality. Now, I spot water without any thinking because it's so easy. I didn't use their nozzles. I hold my nozzle with one hand and wind up the hose quickly with the other. I have one hose left that's a standard. It, like my other old ones, is in perfect condition. I feel guilty about replacing them but the Bionic is so much better and so easy to use. I live in southern California so I don't know how the hoses work in very cold weather.

Can’t say enough good things about this hose. Very well made and virtually impossible to tangle. How a metal hose can be lighter and easier to manipulate than a plastic one is beyond me, but it’s all those things and more.

Looks sturdy, I particularly like the brass fittings, hopefully will last longer that plastic ones. Also like the stop valve at the end of the hose, very convenient. It took a little while to ‘unkink’ it straight out of the box, but after a couple of times using it it winds up now with no problem.

Best hose I ever bought. Will never buy another type. Clean looking, never kinks, been run over and no loss of pressure. Rolling it up is a breeze.
