After putting nearly one year of hard work into this blade and reading and watching countless others who have done the same, I can say that the Junglas is the greatest production big chopper on the market today. The handle is amazingly soft, but grips. The center swell and back contour create the perfect handhold for maximum leverage. Hold the blade this way when chopping, and the full length and weight of the blade absolutely slams into wood. The full flat grind allows for a more manageable weight and provides maximum bite. The blade is expertly balanced. Rowan’s 1095 is heart treated to as low as 54 Rockwell. Comparative to super steels, edge retention is low, but I’ve sharpened it back to razor in under 10 minutes using a few DMT plates. You WILL have to stay in top of this edge. The upside to this specific hardness is a blade so tough you can run over it with a cement truck. It has excelled for almost two seasons of chopping and splitting seasoned black locust, one of the hardest domestic woods in America. I have NEVER chipped or rolled this edge on wood of any kind, no matter how hard or dry. And although I do enjoy Ontario Knives, the Junglas’ black coating lasts months longer. The sheath is near equal to custom kydex with dozens of mounting options, and adjustable tightness. Keep in mind that this blade is much heavier than a traditional machete. I consider the Junglas more suited for heavy chopping.

This is a very big knife and I enjoy using it. This knife is very sharp and can chop like a champ. It's too large to carry on your person so I strap it to my backpack. The quality of this knife is top notch and the large Kydex sheath makes this a hard deal to beat. I use this knife for clearing brush, chopping tree limbs and chopping down small trees. This is a knife / machete and is a good companion to a smaller knife when I'm doing my thing in the woods, as the pair covers all bases. The handle is very comfortable and I can maintain a good grip with the micarta grips when chopping at limbs and trees. Esee has an excellent warranty: you break it they replace it, no questions asked and no receipt needed. I researched a lot of large knives and could not find an overall better deal. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and with Amazon primes 2 day shipping I ordered on Friday and received it on Sunday.

I did quite a bit of research online through various sources before purchasing. I've been very impressed with the knife, and it meets the hype. I typically hate black finishes on knives because they don't hold up. I still don't but this knife has the toughest coating I've ever seen. Chopping doesn't scuff it at all. For a large knife, it comes sharp enough to shave with, and seems to hold its edge very well. So far its lived up to all of the reviews. Its a cool looking knife and the grip material was a great choice. Its not the prettiest thing its made to actually use, and use hard. If you want a knife to use, buy this one. If you want something to fondle in your house, get something else. The sheath is high quality, functional and flexible. The reviews are correct with this as well. Great knife, and worth the money.

If you appreciate simplicity, durability, value and BIG KNIVES! You are going to love the Junglas by Esee Knives. The 10 plus inch blade is made of 1095 steel, an excellent metal for hard use knives. The handle is large and made out of micarta (another good choice). Most of my knives came from the factory with nylon sheaths. Well guess what? Somebody finally got it right! A great sheath to go with a great knife! The kydex sheath that comes with the Junglas is outstanding. The knife 'snaps' firmly into place and stays there with no shake, rattle or roll. The knife feels well balanced in the hand and it's not too heavy. I work in the woods in northern Maine so I get to play with my knives all the time. I've chopped, batoned and just plain old 'hacked' with it. The Junglas loves to work. This knife/sheath combo easily gets 5 stars.

If I had to have 1 knife this would be it.Large enough to build a shelter yet you can choke up for fine work.Hack your way through a jungle or fight off a bear.GREAT quality blade.If you like big steel this is it.Great kydex sheath as well.Cant find a better value👍

Ridiculously good knife, the 'heat treated' video on the page says it all, this knife seems able to take some genuine use. I have already used it to split off kindling from some split dry alder (admittedly a softer wood) and it knocked off chunks with ease, and remained absolutely sharp after about 15 minutes of use. The balance is very nice, and the pommel feels as solid as a hammer in your hand. The 'ammonia' stink from the hand grips wears off in a few days. I would say you'd have to be pretty nit picky to find a real fault with this knife. The size measurements are accurate, this is a big knife, sort of like a mini machete. My 2 machete blades (both used frequently) are as soft as butter compared to this blade.

Works great for everything you could want to do with a huge knife. Solid bulletproof construction and sheath and hardware are amazing quality as well. Steel takes and keeps a great edge. 100% would recommend.

I Love the knife. It feels like a extension of my arms. I glad I bought this knife. Now I got a good addition to my collections.
