Really pleased to have found a budget carpet shampoo machine - it was easy to assemble and use although my carpet hasn't been washed and the common use areas frankly filthy!! It did not do as well on a couple of heavily stained areas as I had hoped which I ended up hand scrubbing, but once the worst of the stains were removed, the machine did a good job. Loved the long cable which enabled me to plug it into the hallway socket outside the living room. The machine is relatively light, easy to push/pull back and forth over the carpet but does take a little practice as I found it to be slow going to get the water/shampoo on in one sweep back then pushing it forward to clean/dry on heavily stained areas. The light traffic areas were a breeze but the 250ml shampoo included was swifly used so I had to order more and wait for it to arrive before I could finish cleaning my carpet.A couple of minor points for improvement, firstly, the clean water unit really needs to have a small handle integrated on the front as is difficult to hold and take/on/off the machine, especially if like me you have arthritus. Secondly, not sure if it is just my machine, but I do not need to use the 'release' pedal to lower the main body, it does not appear to 'lock' into place for it to be released - but will happily stand upright so haven't bothered to return it for a replacement.Overall I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a budget machine with a relatively small carpet area - mine covers 10ft by 12ft and with furniture around the sides only 3/4 of that is visible so ideal for me and a good budget option.

I bought this cleaner because we have several rugs on tiled floors and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a cleaner just for rugs.Firstly cleaning rugs and carpets isn’t a quick job. You need to plan. Need a dry warm day preferably with a light breeze.Cleaner is very lightweight and easy to assemble.Filling the water tank is a bit fiddly as you have to turn it upside down and it does not stand upright on its own so needs to be supported while filling.Cleaning effectiveness depends very much in your carpet or rug. On cleaning an old rug where the pile is uneven and compacted, it was much more difficult to remove excess water. On a newer rug it worked much better.Method - you have to be patient and work systematically. Moving backwards and forwards over the same spot you can see how much water is being pulled back from the surface. Move on when you see very little water.I found the shampoo solution very strong so I reduced the amount to 25ml to 1 litre of water. This was enough to clean 2 large rugs and a door mat.It removed a lot of dirt and left the rug smelling clean. This is not a one off job, you jeed to repeat every few months although this is difficult in winter.After care - Emptying the remaining water in tank was easy but drying it out is not. I left it on a windowsill without the stopper all afternoon to dry.Emptying the dirty water is very simple. Again drying it out is not easy, I left it out to dry like the water tank. The two sponge filters trapped a lot of fluff and dirt so need to be removed and cleaned. There was a lot of silt around the seals of the water intake areas so needs to be cleaned.The very front of the machie where the water is sucked up cannot be removed. This makes it very difficult to clean out the silt that gets trapped. What a shame they couldn’t design this to be removed with a simple clip to rinse it. I hand to lie the machine on each side while pouring a jug of water back through the opening to remove silt. Left to dry in the sun.CONCLUSIONAll in all it does the job but if I had a house with fitted carpets I would buy something much more robust.Some very simple design changes could make after care much easier. If it hadn’t been for that I would have rated 5 stars.Basic cleaner for a basic price. Happy with my purchase for my purpose.

Used it for the first time today. It holds quite a bit so there’s not need to keep filling. Washes very well. For the price it was a bargain. I’m very pleased with it. Very easy to empty.

I’m completely bamboozled by the negative reviews about this item & I’m glad I didn’t let them influence me!1) it’s too heavy (it’s lighter than my vacuum)2) it’s not suitable for stairs (it quite clearly does not state a stairs attachment so doesn’t really take a genius to figure that out. Besides, I live in a bungalow)3) it’s too noisy (literally the same amount of noise my Shark vacuum dispels)4) it releases too much water, the carpet is soaking for ages (dry within 2 1/2 hours max. And I used the whole tank full)This is a brilliant machine for a freshen up - I don’t necessarily think it’d be great for heavy duty stuff, stains etc but to freshen up 3 year old carpets when you have 2 dogs & a partner who never takes his shoes off, I think it was a steal for £90!I’d have paid at least £60 to rent something for a weekend. And then been under pressure to do it that weekend instead of drinking prosecco.If you want a lightweight, as noisy as anything that has a motor is, value for money carpet & rug cleaner - this is the item for you.If you want a feather-light, silent, water-free carpet cleaner...well I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe get a wipe clean floor.

Ordered this carpet washer and it arrived promptly. Followed all instructions on how to assemble and instructions on how to use. However upon trying to use this washer it did nothing at all. The liquid never went through the machine and carpet's was not washed at all! The machine made an extremely loud screeching sound constantly. I have arranged return due to the item being faulty. Don't waste your money....

I already own a carpet shampooer, the only problem I have is that it is so large and heavy that I’m finding it difficult to use as I have some physical issues. So I was looking for something which is lighter in weight and easier to use, also I did not want to spend loads of money. Hence I decided to go for this The Swan dirt master. It’s quite competitively priced so that suited my budget. I received it and it was very easy to assemble just one screw to fix the handle to the main part of the machine I managed that easily. The description of this machine is somewhat confusing as it’s only suitable for cleaning carpets there are no attachments for cleaning upholstery or stairs. You need to buy the dirt master pro to get those attachments. As to using the machine itself it’s easy to set up warm water and 50 mils of the cleaning fluid to 500 mils of water, you get a bottle of cleaning fluid that comes with the machine. Once it’s switched on I noticed immediately that it is much quieter than other machines I’ve owned in the past but then this is less powerful. The cleaning fluid has a nice smell and I noticed that the main fault with this machine is picking up the dirty water from the carpet I soon realised that I needed not to put too much cleaning solution down, and I had to make many passes over the wet areas to get as much of the dirty water picked up. On a more positive note a stain that had been on my carpet which I had tried many times to remove this machine shifted it immediately so there is that positive note. Overall the price I paid was competitive and this does clean the carpet albeit it leaves it wetter than I would like. If you struggle with some of the machines that are extremely heavy and difficult to manoeuvre this might be the answer.

I have 3 dogs and 5 kids in my house. My garden leads straight off my living room which means both the dogs and kids trail dirt into my carpet on a daily basis. I've been scrubbing my carpet by hand and it was taking days to dry. So I asked my husband for a carpet cleaner for Christmas. We were on a tight budget and looked at a few before settling on this one. When I read it was for light carpet cleaning I wasnt hopeful it could manage mine.It arrived with a 250ml of carpet clearer and was so simple to set up I was up and going within minutes.My carpet looks 100 times better than it did and carpet was dry in a 3 hours which isnt bad going. The solution smells lush and the whole room is refreshed. Looking forward to doing the rest of my house now.Extremely happy with this product.

Used this for the first time a few days ago, easy to put together, empty and fill with water and solution,bit noisy but did the job,will carry on using it as the need arises,not heavy and can be carried up/down stairs,no tools with it so mainly just carpet. Dries quiet quickly I opened a few windows to speed things along
