Nontechnical Guide to Petroleum Geology, Exploration, Drilling & Production [Hyne, Norman J.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Nontechnical Guide to Petroleum Geology, Exploration, Drilling & Production Review: Comprehensive Overview -- Indeed Non-Technical - After just browsing through, it appears pretty comprehensive and definitely easy to understand. Not an equation in sight, and a lot of drawn illustrations throughout. Some pages of color photos of rocks near the front. Not a big book--not textbook size, but thick at close to 700 pages. Paper appears good quality. Haven't checked if it stands up to highlighting without bleed through yet. Glossary is incredibly large 180 pages long, at the back, and just before the Index. Review: In a very non-technical professional way it covers Oil so thoroughly even those who know little up to oil executives have a grea - Not only did I read and review from cover, I re-ordered additional copies for 3 other employees and they are raving about it. If you are interested in the "oil business" at any level this manual of how it runs and the many opportunities and diverse individual ways to be involved are discussed in detai. In a very non-technical professional way it covers Oil so thoroughly even those who know little up to oil executives have a great reference work to draw from. An excellent choice!
This book is full of information. I have been in the oilfield since 2007 and was searching for a book to help me sort out my career choice in the industry. What that simply means is that I have had numerous jobs performing many different functions in the oil and gas industry. So, I wasn't sure if I wanted to pursue a career in exploration, production or engineering. After reading this book front to back twice, its clear what I want to do. Inside the context of these pages is the explanation of everything related to oil and gas formation. If you are considering a career in the oilfield, this is an excellent choice for people starting with no experience to someone who has years of experience. This book will help you understand everything from the history of the earth to refining oil and gas once its produced.

Another good book for my studies
I ordered this book to be delivered to Kazakhstan and amazingly it reached my place even earlier than I expected. Delivery fee was reasonable and the price of the book too. I'm happy to have this book in my home library as I need it for my studies.

Not a classroom text, but need it for profession
This is a good non-technical approach to Petroleum Geology. It's not an engineering book, it's focused on geology of course. Good for those who are geology majors wanted to study or specialize in petroleum. Conclusion: Get this book, and take a look at it!

Easy to read
I bought this book because there is lots of discussion on fracking in this area, and I wanted to know more about the process of drilling wells. The book so far has been very informative, and I now know a great deal more than I did a week ago. It has given me a much better idea on how the whole process works. In those areas where I want more information, I find I can search the internet to find it because I know what to look for now.

As I work in other aspects of the oil & gas industry, I always wanted to know how oil and gas is formed within the earthโs crust, how is it really discovered and then how the wells are drilled and how does the oil and gas really come to the surface. They are individual subjects in themselves and have numerous specialised books, with a lot of detailed technical calculations and formulas to make it difficult for anybody wanting to quickly learn about these topics. This book brings all these topics together in an extremely easy to understand format. The chapters and kept short and very well illustrated along with real examples. It gave me real satisfaction when completing each chapter to have easily learnt something new. The โnontechnicalโ part of the book title does not mean that it is not detailed enough, but what it does is just removes all the various engineering calculations and makes it more like a โHow it Worksโ style reading material. I would recommend it both to engineers and also non-engineers who would like to quickly learn about these topics in its entirety. I think this could also be used as a reference book from high school onwards as a guide to the oil & gas industry. I really enjoyed reading the book.
