I need paddock boots that have good grip (no sliding or slipping) on water, ice, loose gravel.

They are OK. Maybe not the best but not the worst. For ice some of the gals use the wire tracker/ice gripper things on their boots.

Are these good for Beginners?

I wouldn’t see why not. They are extremely comfortable. I’ve been wearing mine daily for 12 years (not the same pair). I They are a staple for me. I love the round toe, and the foot liner is so good. I saved the liner from an old pair I threw out, to use in other boots.
