Wanted to give it time before I left a review. This really works. Our driveway slopes downhill to the garage and we get all the leaves, sticks and blooms from all the neighbors trees and plants collecting at the bottom. When it heavily, the garage would get water in it due to the drain getting clogged.Once we put this in, no more water in the garage. It really does stop all the debris from clogging the drain. Best money we ever spent

UPDATE (8/11/2021): It's been over a year and my Drain Defender is still going strong. Two quick cleanings of mud buildup is the only maintenance I've done to it (one today which made me think to write a review update). I no longer worry about the drain backing up and flooding my basement during a rainstorm, which has been a huge relief.Soon after moving into our house a couple years ago, we realized that the drain at the bottom of our exterior basement stairs was going to be a problem. We'd only been in the house for a few months when the basement flooded because the drain cover became clogged by floating debris during a rainstorm. Every time that it would rain after that, I would worry about the basement flooding again and constantly check the drain. I've had more than one night ruined by a thunderstorm, when I would run to the basement and frantically clear leaves and other clutter off the drain before the water level rose too high. When going out of town, seeing any rain in the forecast at home would make me nervous that I'd be coming home to a ruined basement.I looked all over for a solution, but was surprised to find that there didn't seem to be anything out there for this problem. The Drain Defender has changed all of that! It prevents my drain from becoming clogged and I no longer have to worry. No more late night ventures into the rain to clear it out. Installation couldn't have been easier...it just fits right on top of your existing drain cover. I would highly recommend this product to anyone experiencing flooding problems due to drain blockage.

Just received this product after looking for something exactly like it for days1 It hasn't rained since install, but it fit perfectly and I can see that installs as advertised. So, I ran some water in the walk-up stair well where the Drain Defender is installed. There was some debris already there and it worked well. Whereas the product seems to be legit, the delivery was not. My item was delivered in a simple plastic bag and the box was destroyed! The edge of the product was hanging out of the box but was not damaged that I could see. Please do better shipping Amazon!

Easy to follow directions to set it up. If it works like it's advertised, so well worth the cost!! I have it in a basement entrance that doesn't get much use, but does collect leaves, etc.

The Drain Defender works great to keep leaves and brush out of the drain. I thought the price seemed a little high, but I am glad now I bought it. It is very good quality and was easy to install.

This has saved so much headache and sweat and maybe a couple tears.I have a drain in the back steps from my below grade garage that would clog if a leaf landed in the same zip code. My garage would then promptly flood and I'd have a mess to clean up. Enter the drain defender. It installed in a literal second, sits pretty solidly where I placed it, and stops all the junk that accumulates from blocking my pathetic drain. It handles heavy downpours and high winds and Akitas stomping on it with ease.

This item surpasses all expectations. Extremely robust, weather and traffic tolerant. Protects drains from leaves, dirt and debris. Absolutely excellent product and functions as advertised.

A previous cover was causing more blockages than it prevented, this cover stops build up of sticks and leafs keeping the water flowing. Easy to fit, easy to clean, great product.

Had an issue in the alley between my house and neighbour where, if a big rain storm rolled in, I'd be awake all night checking to make sure the drain didn't get covered with leaves or other debris. Bought this drain defender hoping it would work, and what a difference it has made. Not once have I had any leaves block the drain. No more middle of the night runs to check the drain during heavy rains. It's expensive, but well worth it.

Was early covered drain . Small plastic broke so I used a long small stainless steel bolt . This held it in place better

Works as described. No regrets.
