Took a little longer to assemble than expected, mostly because I thought I was missing an end but all I had to do was flip it over. Then i got confused on removing this inner rail from the drawer railing...figured that out at the end. Lastly i had to reposition the drawer rails because i had them out too far. I am happy with the final product and it seems pretty sturdy.

The DEVAISE Lateral File Cabinet was the perfect size for my application, fit like a glove. So glad I found it. I spent time studying the instructions, labeling the part types in Solo coffee cups. Got all organized and began to assemble. How did they make it all work so perfectly? My wrist and hand was sore from using the screw driver. But it went together flawlessly. I was impressed that the door and file drawer were perfect fits. My husband did lend a hand when I needed more than two! I would have given it 5 stars all the way if it was solid wood. Of course, it would have been prohibitively pricey if it was. I would be concerned about the longevity of this cabinet if it was in a home with children. I doubt they would be able to use it without causing damage.

When we moved into a "senior's community" one-level patio home, my son-in-law installed a single long desk on one wall in my bedroom for my computers and printers, and it is sitting atop four Ikea desk pedestals. As an aside, he installed shelves on that wall above the desk area, and has down-lights suspended below the bottom shelves. I needed additional desktop space for other items (laptops, etc.) and found the Customer Service Department at Devaise offered what would serve as an ideal desk return ... large (32" x 16") Wood Lateral File Cabinet with 1 File Drawer, Storage Door and Shelves, large top area, and a separate cubby area behind a cabinet door, with adjustable height shelf, and the hinge features a built-in damper that creates a soft-closing door. As an aside, I'm planning to use a hole saw, and drill a hole in the rear of the cubby area, where I can install electricals ... USB supply lines 110 volt lines, etc. It wasn't "too" difficult to put the cabinet together, and everything was as it needed to be ... except one of the two lockable casters had the locking lever broken off in shipment. I contacted Devaise Customer Service, and the contact there asked me if I wanted / needed one or two replacement casters. Since the lever had broken while in shipment, it wasn't a stretch that one might also get broken in another shipment. Orford, the US Customer Service agent with Devaise, agreed and the replacement package ended up including all four casters! I haven't installed the new caster on the cabinet yet ... I'll have to empty the cabinet first, so I can turn it upside-down. And that'll fix that problem. Right now, I don't know what, if anything, I can do to set up a second Devaise desk return adjacent and on the other side of my primary desk position. To add another identical unit will infringe on walk space at the foot of my bed. Sincerely, Jim J.

I was impressed at the quality of this. Well thought out. Be sure to build the drawer correctly as the holes for the slides only work 1 way. I had to disassemble it because the drawer didn’t close enough the first time

When it comes to fixing and hand-man things, my husband is extremely competent. Almost to a professional-level, he single-handedly rewires electrical, installs plumbing and every other do-it yourself project. This cabinet's directions were 15 pages long and less than helpful in achieving completed product. Took us 3 hours and at that, the drawer still doesn't close properly due to the quality of the hardware. Not worth the price!

Much nice than I was expecting. It was a bit of a challenge to assemble (not impossible). All pieces were included, everything lines up properly of assemble. Overall great value

This piece is perfect for my office! It has everything I need. A door to keep the mess hidden, a drawer to keep my paperwork, and an open shelf for my book. Because of that though there is a lot of assembly beyond anything I’ve ever tackled before. I am a fairly experienced assembled, and being a woman, I always follow directions. Unlike my husband who carves his own way with power tools. I’ve never assembled a drawer like this one before and it was my biggest challenge yet. And the directions were not super clear. I ended up just thinking about what it’s supposed to do and redoing it a couple of time before getting it right. I’m not going to lie, assembly took me all day, but I am also pregnant, sick, and had a toddler hiding all of my pieces when I wasn’t looking. If you’re looking for the perfect little piece of office furniture and are ready to up your furnitue assembly game this is perfect!!

I was able to assemble it however the bottom drawer similar to another review will not go in completely and just sticks out. This is disappointing considering the time, money, and energy invested into this.
