Continental Gatorskin Black Edition Set of 2 (700x25)

I needed to replace the Bontrager R1's that came on my Trek Domane as they were getting on a bit and I wanted a more durable tire that would tolerate the horrible roads I have to ride on around here. I have not had them very long so I can't comment on the long term performance, but first impressions of this tire far exceed my expectations. They went on easy and in my hand they fell lighter that the R1 even though I can tell the material is thicker and as others have said they are ever so slightly wider than most 700x25s. As for riding they are definitely smoother, more comfortable, and seem to roll easier than my old tires did. My normal Sunday morning ride takes me up and back down a climb of 3.5km with average grade of 6% and the steepest part 12%. Climbing really felt no different than on old tires, on the flats it did seem I could maintain the same speed with slightly lower effort, but descending is where I really could tell the difference. I was picking up speed much faster and going around bends I definitely felt more confident in my hold on the road. Absolutely fantastic tires, I really expected these to be hard, heavy, and slow and I had planned on getting a pair of grand prix's to put on for when I want to do more inspired rides and just use these for slower paced family outings and long distance rides on B roads to keep from getting punctures, but I think these will stay as perfect all arounders.

The Continental Gatorskin Black Edition tires allow me to ride 6500 miles before I have to replace them. I cycle everyday and this is the best quality road bike tire that is puncture resistant.

I’ve been rolling around Phoenix, AZ with these for nearly two months now, and I have nothing but praise. Easy to install, they roll so well (slightest gust of wind to your back on a decline and you’re floating), and the grip is fantastic (one near miss at a crosswalk forced me to basically lean at 75 degrees to turn around). They’re also thicker than the stock tires that came with my bike, which has helped keep thorns and the like from puncturing my tubes.

Been using these for several years. Great for all season riding rough roads to smooth. Excellent flat proof protection. You give up a little bit of weight for the peace of mind, but it’s worth it imo. Good grip on dry and wet nice lean angles.

I'm a recreational road bicyclist who rides for exercise. I'm not concerned about weight or any of that stuff, I just don't want to have to change tires on my rides. I've tried "race" tires a couple of times (that's what usually comes standard on new road bikes) and inevitably have more flats in the first month than I do in 3 years riding gatorskins. They are practically bomb proof. I think the only time I've had a flat with gatorskins is when a work knife in the road literally sliced through the entire tire all the way to the rim. I'm a fan, and this is my go-to tire for my bikes. They are long lasting and they remove a lot of worry about being out on a ride and being inconvenienced by a flat.

The items were exactly what I purchased and arrived sooner than expected! I will be ordering more soon.
