Snap on tool want to much money for this tool this is not bad for the price

I was excited to finally pull the timing chain, pull the cams and head to find out what happened to my GTI 2.0 motor when I let a friend drive it! The timing chain was still in time, and a leak down test proved it was cylinder #3 , that had no compression. I never rebuilt a VW before ,tho I have done scores of other motors, including Harley Davidson and diesels , so I had no VW specialty tools! I bought the owners manual and went to AMAZON PRIME and ordered all the triple squares , RIBE drivers etc! I typed in the VW manual tool numbers for taking apart the head and this kit popped up. AWESOME! EVERYTHING I needed for the timing chain in one convenient kit ! I was so excited when I ordered it — amazon delivered it the next DAY!! WOW!! Awesome to amazon prime! However, I used the counter hold tool in the kit to pull the crank pulley and that worked awesome! I used the counter old tool to pull the intake cam Spool also ! Worked great ! Man these tools are making everything easier! I used the pin in the kit to hold the oil pump chain tensioner and removed that as per manual! NOW we get to the timing chain! The attached photos are the clip provided in the kit to hold my style cam tensioner. It worked amazing at first, as I went to remove the tensioning slider rail , with the clip holding all the tension on the tensioner, the clip provided in this kit FAILED with my fingers between the tensioner rail and the chain!!! See how it is bent? It SNAPPED the timing chain violently — almost taking a finger with it —and most importantly moving the Cams — so now my motor is OUT OF TIME , AND NEEDS A FULL RETIMING TO THE CRANK GEAR!! I HOPE the manufacterer reads this as it is hugely important to using this kit! All the other tools seem to be built sturdy and correctly except this clip. PLEASE BEWARE if you have this style cam tensioner! I’d hate to see anyone loose a finger over this. I still gave it 3 stars as I think all the other tools included are good ! Even tho I am extremely upset and now have a ton more work todo from this failure of their clip

Complete set for vw audi timing chains on 2.0t & 1.8t. Works well cam shaft lockers are slightly smaller than the ones vw of America sells you so it actually makes the hanging of the chains & installation of the guides just a tad easier. I have not used the piece used for the counter hold for the vibration dampener. The whole set is a good value.

Most of the items in this kit simply do not fit as they should and are pretty much useless. The pins in the adapters for removing different oil control valves don't actually line up with the holes in the valve. Even though the degree/angle of separation is correct, the pins are located on a smaller diameter than where they should be and thus don't fit in the valve.The tensioner locking tool warps when you install it and lets go of the tensioner.The cam sprocket holding tools are too thick to fit between the teeth of the sprocket, so again useless.There are a few bits I haven't used to test their fit yet, but it's not worth the headache. Save your money and your time and get something else.
