Easy mistake to think rover is broken
Overall, kids think this rover is cool and it does teach them about solar energy in a fun manner. That said, the kids (grade 5) put this together themselves and were outside on a super sunny day and the rover did NOTHING! When we came out to inspect it, it turned out that the black and red wiring was not making any contact to the electrodes underneath the solar panel itself. We popped the panel out of the housing and saw that the + and - were flipped to the top of the rover when they should have been at the bottom. We popped it back in the right way, inserted the wires so they touched the electrodes of the solar panel and the rovers motor started spinning immediately. For those of you who also have the same problem, double check that the wiring is making contact with the correct part of the solar panel. :) Enjoy!

Science fair project
Decent value for money and he learned alot from it. He is 10 and used it for the science fair. No missing parts and worked.

Fun teaching experience for all ages
This was easy to assemble. Our 5yo granddaughter had minimal help. They work well in the sun (solar power of course) but we did try other light sources which didn't work. We did use the soda cans and had some wonderful races! Approved by Granny Camp

Great simple inexpensive fun kit!
This is a great simple kit. Any kid that likes to assemble stuff or learn how things work will have some fun with this. My son is looking to add a simple switch in the circuit to be able to disconnect the solar panel from the motor. He kept trying to get his dad to drink a beer so he'd have a can, but it works just fine without the can! The can serves no functional purpose... just aesthetics.

Good for Kids to Learn about Solar Power
Bought this for my daughter who likes to assemble stuff. It takes her only ten minutes to put it together. The parts look flimsy at first sight, but won't break if you're careful. My only concern is that the solar panel is not very sensitive to indoor light unless you just put it under strong incandescent light bulbs. Since it is most cloudy recently, my daughter has not had the chance to try it out in the sun yet. Besides, if not for the 5 buck discount, the price seems a little too expensive.

Quick assembly, simple design - a winner if you're just getting started in solar
Easy to follow instructions, 20 minutes to build, and worked immediately on a not-so-sunny day. Kids were impressed and are now more into solar tech (the intended outcome!). Make sure to have a small Phillips head screwdriver for assembly. There are 5 small screws in total that we used (there was a 6th but didn't need to use it). Also, the wheels are a little hard to put on and may benefit from some cement to keep them on. The kit comes with a plastic 'body' as well if you're not interested in using an aluminum can. I didn't know that when I ordered, it was a nice add-in I thought.

Perfect as a gift for kids!
I bought this for a 7 years-old boy birthday and he loved it! It's easy to build, but still very entertaining, it works well and is educative. I recommend buying this for kids. Totally worth it

Good but needs very delicate handling
Instructions were easy to follow on the first page, got tricky with the can. We are giving three stars because the red wiring broke, despite us being careful (in the first fifteen minutes) and right when we had figured the can part.
