Economical yet Great Tablet
(When I bought this tablet - twice - the prices were $56.25 and $62.50. I'm not sure I'd pay the $100+ that it's selling for now. I bought refurbished and have had NO issues.) I love this tablet. I don't use the keyboard much but like having that option. There wasn't much to clean off with regard to things already installed (like some tablets etc come bloated with extra apps that slow performance). The performance was already quick. I will say if you don't use it for a day or so that when you first start using it it seems a tad slow but I've realized that it's uploading and updating things. So I allow it time to do that then it's super fast. I bought one for myself. Loved it. Then bought another for my mom for her first tablet and she loves it too! If you're looking for an economical foray into tablets, here it is. I use it for email, on-line shopping, banking, youtube-ing, and a couple old school games (like Bejeweled). I am not a gamer so am not sure what its performance would be on graphic-heavy system-draining things like that, but am optimistic. I am VERY happy with this purchase.

Great tablet for general light duty use. Works well for my purposes.
This seems to be a very nice tablet for my use. I use it mainly for portable data entry into an MS Excel program and running PowerPoint programs. The office program that comes on the tablet is adequate and it will run the Excel & PowerPoint programs but some features are lost. I downloaded the free Excel & PowerPoint apps and they run the programs fine. I set up the programs on my desktop & then transfer to a USB flash drive to load into the tablet. I also downloaded a free file manager app which is much better than the Android file manager. I found out you can download regular fonts onto the tablet so you're not limited to the fonts already there which are quite limited. I haven't used it a lot for email or for surfing the web although it appears to be fairly fast in that area. I would not call this a power tablet but fine for casual use. RE complaints about the keyboard, it is not made for 2 hand power typing - more like 2 finger typing. Its a lot better than trying to use the on-screen keyboard. RE Amazon customer service: About week after I got the tablet, the keyboard stopped working. I tried several times & things to try to get it to work. I sent a note to Amazon saying it was defective and they quickly sent me a return mailer to replace the tablet. The day I received the mailer, the keyboard started working again. Wasn't sure if it was a hardware or software problem. I didn't return it. I've had 1 time again that it stopped working but was able to get it working again pretty quickly. I'm about to conclude that it is a software glitch and not a tablet problem. I am really quite pleased with the tablet.

Free advice- don't buy this, look for something else
I got this tablet because my laptop is under going maintainence and I just need a word processor or something to continue writing papers with. I don't even need consistant internet. This tablet is JUNK! I only had the apps that were pre downloaded and it would say they were not found when I tried to open them. It took 5-8 minutes to boot up, it was slow but sporadically worked ok which renewed hope until within a couple minutes it slowed to a grinding holt again. I would boot this tablet down (not screen off) and go to turn it on and the battery would be dead! The screen came with a pixel missing (which I dont really care about). I am typically patient and ok with slow loading but when I cannot even use the thing to type a document that is just not ok. It doesnt even work for basic functions. Also when I use any app including the internet it intermitantly just closes everything. And no I was not touching any reset button or the bottom of the mouse pad which closes things as well. This laptop/tablet would be great for someone that you really want to mess with and make irritated. I can't even imagine if this was someone's first computer or they are trying to learn how to use one (thinking elders). I am typing this on my phone without a laptop because I didn't even want to keep it long enough to get my laptop back from maintenance because it is such an annoying piece of crap. It's too tempting for me to try and give it another chance and be turned down again. It looks tempting because it is cheap and has good reviews but its like that bad, cool, high school boyfriend. You can't change it and it ends up being a big waste of time, money, and lost dreams.

Good enough for 90% of what you want it to do, at 20% of the price of an iPad
If you're like most people, you have a laptop for the resource-intensive tasks (work, school, etc.) and a cell phone for the on-the-go tasks (calls, messaging, games, etc.). A tablet is usually positioned somewhere in the middle for things that don't need a high-end processor, yet require a screen bigger than a phone, for things like streaming, e-book, surfing, etc. A lot of people turn to high-end devices like iPads or Galaxy Tabs, but I ask, why? Processing power already comes with the laptop, and you already get mobility with your phone. So there really is no need to pay premium pricing for tablets. Hence budget models like the RCA Viking Pro fill a very important niche: for people who just need it for entertainment (movies, social media, email) and other escapist activities. At $80, this is one of the cheapest ways to fill in the gap, so I can watch Netflix, shop on Amazon and play Android games. And the addition of the keyboard is handy on the few times I do actual work on it, either quick Google docs, answering emails or making reservations. I did take away 1 star because you do get what you pay for. But what you get is still a lot.

I am amazed by this item. This is only the first day of ownership, and I will edit my review after a few months, but first impressions are excellent. The unit is very sturdy, especially the keyboard. The docking mechanism works flawlessly. The unit fired up first time and had a 98% charge. I love this: 1. Keyboard and tablet together are just like a small laptop. Literally. 2. It came with one of those shipping screen protectors on it but it is so well applied I am just going to leave it on instead of replacing it or removing it. 3. The display is excellent. The colours are very vibrant, and although you lose a bit of brightness at angles, I would say the viewing angle experience is very good. 4. The touch digitizer has been flawless so far. No complaints at all. 5. The two parts, when docked, have a substantial weight and don't get pushed around the desk while you're typing. 6. Google play store works fine. 7. Keyboard has volume controls and a back button. Nice. 8. Trackpad works just like a laptop 9. Tablet is very responsive. It's no blinding speed racer, but I wasn't unhappy with the overall speed and responsiveness. 10. It has a full sized USB port! Yahoo!! 11. Separate power input allows charging while any of the ports is in use. 12. Has a separate mini HDMI port. 13. Has a uSD card slot. This will serve me well. 14. Tablet by itself is very light, but slightly flimsy. It's not easy to twist or anything, but it seems care will have to be taken. 15. On-screen volume, physical volume and keyboard volume buttons. 16. Keyboard feels nice. It's a bit small, but that's to be expected. 17. WiFi speeds seem fast. Something to complain about? 1. When I was first using it (for the first couple of hours), installing software, doing updates (including a firmware update), Google Hangouts kept crashing. The tablet would occasionally crash/reboot. After disabling Google Hangouts and some other built-in software, and then testing it for several more hours including installing Kodi for Android, Netflix, using Youtube and installing office software, along with many documents and service manuals, it has not crashed since. In fact, over the last few hours is has been operating perfectly. Video playback has been working very well. 2. Digitizer is not glass 3. Camera's suck (but I knew that before I purchased it). Grainy photos and not very good focus. Reminds me of the first phone I ever had with a camera built-in. Also, when making a video the video is blurry, especially so during motion. 4. If you hold the tablet in landscape mode (my favorite way to use a tablet), your left hand fingers will continuously be touching the rear camera. In the same general area by the rear camera, there is a reset button. It really takes some effort to push the button, but be aware of it. It's not a very good location for a reset button. This is an extraordinary tablet for the price shown. I have a Dell Latitude 10" tablet with Windows 10 Pro installed, and it work fine, but this tablet that cost less than half as much works just as well (although the screen isn't quite as nice as the Dell). If this tablet keeps performing the way it is now, I will be a very happy customer. EDIT After a few days the tablet was still restarting by itself at times. I contacted the seller and they replaced it with a new one. It's been over a month now and the new one is working perfectly. I'm still happy with the purchase. Also, a further note. One reviewer mentioned that they had to pay duty. This is correct. When I purchased it, they actually refunded me $20 to make up for that. I think they may be new to shipping items to Canada, but in the end everything worked out fine. As another reviewer mentioned, the screen is not glass. It's plastic. All cheap, non-highend, off-brand tablets are this way. I have tried several, and they all have plastic digitizers. This is why I left the screen protector on it. I have scuffed up and scratched the screen protector, and I may replace it soon, but under that protector the screen should be in good condition. If you want a fast tablet with a glass protector, you're going to have to either purchase a smaller name-brand tablet for a similar price (like a 6" tablet with no keyboard for around $200), or spend $400 and up for a 10" tablet. If you want a good media tablet at a reasonable price, this RCA is a great option. If you want to play the newest games then perhaps you should spend more on a faster tablet. There's no such thing as a fast tablet at this price.

I got this for my mom as an early Christmas present. She’s absolutely in love, and it’s a perfect solution for her as her laptop is on it’s deathbed. The keyboard makes it much easier for her writing documents, and she’s able to do everything she needs (mostly watching Netflix). It’s great value and quality for the price! Perfect for anyone who casually uses computers.
