This product would have looked nice but were too big for a standard post and we had to return. Measurements are tricky.

Why does this "post base" have a "post cap" description?
Too bad they have erroneously pasted a "post cap" description. The actual post base, pictured here, is a ring of trim that goes around the bottom of your post. Home Depot carries these too. It comes assembled with staples except for one side, and you can install it with construction adhesive.

These do not fit standard 4x4 posts. They are about 1/2" bigger.

Just a bit too big.
About 3/8" too large for my standard cedar 4x4.Used them anyway, but seriously, they can't get them the right size? Perhaps it's a Canada/US nominal lumber size issue?

Good looking post trim.
This post trim set is beautiful and fits well. I primed the trim and then painted it. The trim is a little bit big on the post. But using wood filler will fix the problem.
