I think it is meant to only block fumes but probably would at least limit the amount of fluid coming back.

You only need to measure the inner diameter of your drain pipe, and see if you can place our floor drain with the width of the inner diameter. Then you can use a tape measure to measure the depth of the pipe and then select the appropriate size of the floor drain. You can see the picture of our products
