Kenny G - Live

Most concert DVDs have an Extras section, where they stuff various behind-the-scenes content, including interviews. This DVD inserts them inline with the show--over the top of the music. So, when the bass player is getting down with it in his bass solo, we have to cut away and listen to some human interest stuff about him over the top of the music, instead of watching him play. Same with the keyboard player, same with the drummer, same with the guitarist, and even the same with some of the guests (even Dudley Moore!). There is no way to turn it off and watch the raw concert. It's insane, and it destroys some of the best parts of the show.On the good side, I finally got the see the concert I have visualized (incorrectly by far!) in my mind's eye over the past 30 years (I owned the cassette and the CD). The show is pure 1989, with Kenny wearing a ridiculously oversized suit, the keyboard player looking like Steve Urkel, the bass player looking like Sven the Swedish bodybuilder, the drummer looking like a house (or two), and the guitarist looking exactly like... I did in 1989.This disc is worth watching once, but you probably won't want to watch it more than once--not even as background filler. The interviews are seriously distracting to the point of being annoying.BTW, the extra feature is behind-the-scenes of the recording of "Classics in the Key of G" and is great.Three stars.

I have never seen a bad Kenny G Show. Great entertainment. I will recommend this everyone

I had the VHS of this product several years ago! The dvd is even better, with the added features! Kenny G is a master, and this dvd shows it! To all you out there if you ever have the chance to see Kenny G Live, do it; you will not regret it!!

I've been a Kenny G fan for 25+ years and owned this CD and LOVED the funky vibe of the album.So the only thing better would be to own the concert DVD version right?? Wrong.There are too many interruptions of songs with all the interviews. Who wants to hear commentary during a solo???They can and need to remix this concert footage and put all the dialogue BETWEEN the songs and reissue this wonderful concert...until they do, stick with the CD (if you can find it).

Great video ...love Kenny G .. His smooth style and music is awesome. Watch this one you won't be sorry!

I really appreciated the video and also the interviews in between. It gave an overview of the reason for the music and what influenced him.

"KG Is At It Again..."

I love love love this dvd.I'm constantly amazed by this guy, he is so talented.My favourite on here is Esther its so beautiful.If you are a Kenny G fan you must buy this. make sure you can play region 1 though as this is American version.

He always delivers, nice selection of hits and loved the interviews too, gives it a personal feel. There were subtitles which I'm not sure were hard coded onto the disc or just my player with subtitles turned on, either way, doesn't take away the quality of the music!
