In season five, Supergirl faces threats, both new and ancient. National City becomes enthralled with addictive virtual reality technologies created by CatCo's charming-but-secretive new owner, Andrea Rojas. As Kara uses the power of the press to try to expose this danger, she must contend with challenges put up by rival reporter William Dey, renegade Martian Malefic J'onzz, a shadowy organization called Leviathan, and the shocking return of Lex Luthor who, in addition to his plot for world domination, seeks to claim the soul of Supergirl's best friend (and his sister) Lena. With humanity choosing to lose itself in technology, can Supergirl save the world yet again? Review: Good value for money - Good quality. Good action.a pleasure to watch. Review: Supergirl Soars in Season 5 - Supergirl: Season 5 delivers a strong mix of action, emotional storytelling, and timely themes, proving once again why this series remains a standout in the superhero genre. Melissa Benoist continues to shine as Kara Danvers, effortlessly balancing her roles as an everyday journalist and the iconic Girl of Steel. This season dives deep into thought-provoking themes like technology's grip on society and the ethical dilemmas of progress, brought to life through the Leviathan storyline and the introduction of Andrea Rojas (Julie Gonzalo). The addition of Lena Luthor's growing distrust toward Kara adds an emotional layer, with Katie McGrath giving one of her best performances as Lena wrestles with betrayal and moral ambiguity. The action sequences are visually stunning, and the special effects feel more polished than ever, especially on Blu-ray. Episodes like "Crisis on Infinite Earths" are a highlight, delivering epic crossovers with the Arrowverse while still staying true to Supergirl's core. The Blu-ray package offers excellent picture quality, and the audio is immersive. Bonus features, including behind-the-scenes looks and cast interviews, are a treat for fans. While some storylines feel rushed or underexplored, Season 5 still delivers a heartfelt and entertaining ride. If you're a fan of Kara's journey or superhero stories with substance, this season is a worthy addition to your collection.

Short but good
At only nineteen episodes, this fifth season 'Supergirl' is the shortest of the series so far, but it is still just as entertaining. This season also sees a major shakeup of the Arrowverse, with the Crisis on Infinite Earth doing what the original comic version did by shrinking the multiverse down to a single universe (although Supergirl’s fate here is different to her fate in the comics). Unfortunately, I am not caught up with the other Arrowverse shows so I had to skip the crossover, but I found it relatively easy to work out what happened from context, and the previously on section of the following episode. As for the plot of the season itself, it was reasonable with many good episodes and very few poor episodes. The main enemies, the ancient organisation known as Leviathan, are okay but seem to lack some charisma. The CGI is pretty much the same as the previous seasons, mostly good but with some rough bits here and there. The performances of everyone in the series are also as good as usual, with Jon Cryer remaining particularly good as Lex Luthor. There are little in the way of the special features in the four-disc DVD set, unfortunately, only Deleted Scenes, a Gag Reel, and highlights from Comic-Con panels. Overall, this penultimate series of 'Supergirl' was relatively good and is worth around four stars.

Do not miss this season if you are a fan.
Not quite finished the final disc but all the previous three were excellent and I will resubmit this review once the fourth disc has been seen completely seen. So far it is good value for money and a great viewing for a great story. I grew up in the early 50's and bought all the super hero comics (I wish I had them now) but film making was poor to say the least and special affects had not been invented like today. This is a great time for film series and I am looking forward to maybe a season 6 of Super Girl.

Not the best season for me.
Confusing story lines. This is a TV show not a political debate.

Starting to get interesting again
Super girl had started to get a bit samey. The introduction of lex Luther made the previous season more interesting and the half or this season I’ve seen so far keeps living up to it.
