Our First Paint Sprayer
My wife and I decided to paint our bathroom cabinets after having some new tile installed. We have never done a project like this before and were not really sure the best way to go about it. We new that a paint sprayer was supposed to be the best thing to use to get a smooth finish, as opposed to using a brush or roller. So instead of hiring someone to do it and spend a ton of money, we decided to give it a shot. We first thought of renting one, but eventually decided to buy a small unit like this Wagner for much less money, and we would still have it for other projects. We were not brave enough to spray it inside the house, so we rolled the actual cabinets and took off the doors and other removable pieces to spray. The paint sprayer was easy to set up. We thinned out the paint as directed and gave it a shot. The sprayer was very easy to use and the paint went on easily. It looked a little rough at first, but dried smoothly. Cleanup was also quick and easy. As far as the actual unit goes, it is a nice, self-contained unit that simply plugs into the wall. No giant compressor or anything like that. Very easy for a homeowner that doesn't want to deal with a giant professional unit. The small size also makes it easy to store. Overall, using this paint sprayer was a great experience for a couple of amateurs like ourselves. For the low price of this paint sprayer, we weren't expecting the best quality, but we were very pleased with the results. Now my wife is looking around the house for other things to paint. I'm sure it will be getting more use soon enough. Highly Recommended!

Worked very well using Wolman waterproofing sealer with cedar tint
Worked very well so far, here's the whole story of doing the "black"cedar siding. Bottom line-the spray gun worked a treat with the Wolman raincoat sealer which is a very thin liquid just like water.: 1.The Wood Cleaner-Sodium Percarbonate Uncoated/ Kosher 25 Lb. pack from Pro Supply Outlet (@Amazon) ================================================================================ This comes in 5 lb bags which makes pouring convenient. 1 pound is about the amount in a full cottage cheese container-check with a kitchen scale. Use caution when handling the powder, and wear glasses/goggles and a hat, long sleeves etc. also don't mix more than will fit in your pump sprayer. In general I wanted to follow the recommendations -Don't use chlorine based bleach because it damages the wood.. -Don't use a power washer because it damages the wood. -Don't use an oil based stain because mold spores feed on oil. The siding on the North side of the house was quite black after 15yrs of NW weather, it came back to new looking using the following cleaning method: -Add 1lb of SPUK per gallon water thoroughly mixed. (8oz SPUK per gallon did not work as well). -Spray on the wood until saturated and milky looking, then wait 20mins, but don't let it dry. -Clean off with water using a high pressure hose spray attachment or a low pressure electric washer (what I used). No brushing needed. The hose spray wasn't quite enough due to the very long hose length and pressure drop but the black stuff fell off in sheets when my old Sears electric pressure washer was used. Update#1 It also worked a treat on the two cedar garage doors. Wow -they look new and are actually 15years old. Update#2 It was necessary to go over extreme weathered areas rwice to get the new look. 2. Stain/sealer section and using the Wagner 0518050 ======================================== I used 5-gal Wolman Raincoat tinted natural cedar water repellant sealer (HD) for the house cedar siding and cedar garage doors. Sprayed on with a Wagner 0518050 Control Spray Double Duty Paint Sprayer. So far have sprayed on about 10 gallons over a period of 3 days, some areas had to be done with a brush because the over spray would have wasted too much sealer. It is very thin, just like water, and if anything a finer minimum setting on the spray gun would have been useful. Used one coat. Initially I did not like the color but after drying it looks great. After each day of use cleaned the spray gun by spraying some water and bit of dish soap through the nozzle. It is hard to clean off of surfaces if let to dry-used mineral spirits.

Great entry level product for basic uses.
I purchased the Wagner spray gun to paint a bed and night stands I built to match an existing IKEA dresser in my daughters room. The product worked well for the project, creating a relatively smooth paint and poly finish. I had never used a sprayer before so the initial set up with the paint and spray technique took a little adjusting practicing on scrap wood. Once I got the spray and mixture ratios down pat the spray coats only took a few minutes for each coat. Cleaning was real easy taking less than 5 minutes to completely disassemble and rinse all the parts for both the latex paint and the polyurethane. This is a great value product, but is best suited for stains and polyurethane products. Paint takes a lot of thining to creat a smooth and consistent application with out an orange peal effect. I will keep this unit around for poly and stain projects, but will upgrade to a more powerful sprayer built to handle various paints for future projects.

Fast, Even Coverage – Wagner Spraytech Makes Staining a Breeze!
The Wagner Spraytech Control Spray Double Duty has been a fantastic addition to my DIY tool collection. It’s perfect for tackling both indoor and outdoor projects with ease. I used it for staining my deck and sealing some wood furniture, and the results were impressive—smooth, even coats without brush marks, and it saved me tons of time compared to manual application. The HVLP sprayer is easy to set up and adjust, so getting the right flow and coverage is straightforward. It handles both thin stains and thicker sealers well, providing a consistent spray that’s easy to control. Cleanup was surprisingly simple, too; just a quick rinse, and it was good as new. If you’re looking to make staining and sealing projects faster and easier with professional results, this Wagner sprayer is a fantastic investment. Highly recommend for DIYers and home improvement enthusiasts!

I've been using this "exterior" model inside and so far so good. There's a lot of over spray, now I've never worked with a paint sprayer before so I don't know it this is normal or not, but do prep your area and cover everything. I thin regular paint to proper consistancy using the viscosity funnel. I do suggest weighing out or measuring your materials, cause it takes a lot to be that sweet spot. so far I've used it with Valspar dry wall primer, SW and Behr 2in1. There's a lot of prep, taping and covering everything, but I can paint a room in 20 minutes or less. I've gotten runs a few times but that was my fault, easy enough to correct with a brush or roller Clean up is easy. But I have not used any paint requiring mineral spirits to clean yet, which I'm sure will be a little more difficult.

This thing actually got me off of my butt and had my deck stained with minimal effort and great results. Quick setup and easy cleaning made it fine to just grab it on a whim, spray about 1 liter on a section and then clean up and move on with my day. Doing small sections when I could find the time meant that I actually got it done and didn't put it off forever, waiting for a time when I could get it all done at once. I was spraying a solid color, water based stain that the manufacturer said should not be thinned. I thinned it anyway (not sure if the sprayer could have handled it without thinning, but this stuff was thick). It was not rocket science. I ran it through the viscosity cup at anywhere from 50 to 80 seconds and had perfect results every time. Even if I never use this again, it was still with it. Couldn't be happier.
