Wonderful !!! Great customer service!! New update July 17, 2024, Feb 1,2025
I have had this freezer/frig for almost 8 months now. Have used it on several week long camping trips and it has not failed me yet. I have had it run on my 12v 100 amp Li iron po4 battery for 4 days(at zero degrees F) and the battery was down to about 29 % charge left. When not using it for camping we use to as an extra freezer and it has been running almost everyday of the last 8 months with no problems. You can hear it running but it is not very loud at all, no problem with sleeping and it in your camper. It cools down pretty fast, but think it would be better to have most items frozen first if you are using it as a freezer. I seldom use it as a frig. but functions fine in that mode. It has a smaller compartment that is frig. only and it stays about 15 degrees or so above the freezer. Items will freeze in that compartment if you leave the item for several days and the freezer at 0 degrees. When I first received the freezer/frig. I had trouble turning it on and adjusting the temperature. I was just pushing down on the "button area" and nothing happened no matter how hard I pushed or where I pushed. I was very upset and sent the company a "heated" email. They answered in a few hours with questions and suggestions, even offering to swap out the control panel-(plug and play I guess) or having me send the unit back to amazon. To make a long story short, they continued to contact me and with ideas for me to try. Finally by accident I pushed my thumb flat on the button and held it there and what do you know it turned off and on and I was able to adjust the temperature. Problem solved-use your thumb, you don't have to push hard and just leave it there till the display starts blinking-read the small owners booklet. Yes, I would buy another if I needed one and recommend this unit to you! Update 7-13-24: Just got back from an extended 2 week camping trip. The frig continues to impress me and worked great the whole time with minimum power consumption from my lithium 12v batteries. We still use it for an extra freezer at home on occasion and trips to Costco. Works wonderful and thinking about buying another one. Update 2-1-25: Had relatives come visit for 5 weeks and used the frig/freezer in our camper. Worked great and they thought it was "neat frig/freezer". I have had it for about 4 years now and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Portable Fridge
This works good. Kept everything cold for a party we had. Only problem which is not with the cooler is that people don't close the lid tight. Will be perfect for parties, gatherings and hurricanes. Will work well with our generator

cheaper and better than the competition
I bought this after my very expensive other-brand cooler pooped-out within 2 years. I figured I could buy 2 of these before I had spent as much as the last one, so if it doesn't last, not so much of a loss. I just got back from 2 months in the Keys, dry camping and the cooler was a champ. It is very energy efficient, draws my solar system down very little; I bet I could go 10 days on my batteries without recharge using this. It also does its job! It kept my drinks and food cold just fine. The little cubby on the top is a little warmer, so a good place for butter or salad dressing; that is a nice feature. Every once in a while there would be a error code and it stopped cooling; a simple power reset (unplug-plugin) solved that. The lid is a weak point for sure. It wobbles and the hinge seems not great. Handle it gently and I expect it will be fine. I am SO COMPLETELY happy with this cooler. Before you spend a ton of money on a more expensive brand, try this out; I'm quite sure you will be happy you did.

Great, with a caveat
Cannot speak to longevity, only tested for a few days, but so far so good. Keeps a tight temperatire range (+/- 2°F from the setpoint on Eco mode). In ideal settings (64° ambient, cover on, minimal openings, Eco mode) it used about 140wh per day. The smaller area does stay ~7° warmer than the main compartment with no lid openings. Probably fine, but worth noting that if you have the temp setting at say 36, the smaller conpartment will technically be above the 40 recommended safe temp range for food. The temp swings much more in that area when the lid is opened, so best to use that for non perishable items. The 30qt model is 10 lbs lighter and less bulky - so depending on your use case that might end up having about the same usable area for less bulk.

Great Portable Refrigerator/Freezer
This is a great portable refrigerator. We got the large 53 Quart size, and glad we did, we can never have enough stuff when we go camping! We haven't had a need to use the freezer option with this unit so we have just used the entire unit as a refrigerator and it works amazing! We go off roading and camping and this unit straps down in the back of the Jeep and holds on like a champ! We got it with the insulated cover which I think is a necessary item for helping with insulation as well as strapping it down as the cover comes with straps. While traveling, it plugs into the 12V receptacle in your vehicle to keep the fridge running at set temp and it holds perfectly. While camping, we purchased the BougeRV 220Wh Portable Power Station, Backup Battery, Power Supply and also a solar panel, they also work well together to keep this baby running at set temp! Very happy with this portable refrigerator and the value for the money as their are definitely brands out there that can run $800 and more that do exactly the same thing, keep your food and drinks cold. I read a couple of other reviews and noticed a few complaints about the heavy springs in the handles, they must have fixed this issue before we bought ours as we do not have any problems with the handles, they work great! And it's not too heavy, even fully loaded, my hubby and I both grab a handle and team lift it into our lifted Jeep, no problem. By himself might be difficult fully loaded in the lifted Jeep, we don't need any pulled back muscles at our age. Love this fridge!!

Good unit, happy with the results
Well, I’ve been testing for over a week - it works. I ran it on “turbo” (or high) to start with. It went from ~68 degrees to 36 in about 2 hours with 2 water jugs in there. That was good. It was pulling about 70-80w during that spell. Then I ran it on eco for maintenance test for over a week. It was left in my van the whole time and used about 10-15% of my 2000wh power station each night (higher end of that was on some unseasonably warm weather too). During the day it would cycle on/off regularly and pull about 30-40w for the that time. So functionally it’s good, but like all these units, leaving it open every quickly raises temps when empty. Ok, I left some water directly in the bottom to see if there would be any leaking from the plug. Happy to report none at all. Last item - I parked the van on an incline (6-8 degrees at a guess) to see if it got upset at having to run on uneven ground. So that passed too. Hope it holds up well over time now :)

I would buy it again
Works. Chills. Freezes. Quiet. Be aware, the door hinges on the shorter side, so it's a long narrow opening style of cooler. For the 2 compartments, there is only temperature setting. It's a balancing act of keeping the "refrigerator" part chilled but not frozen and the "freezer" part colder to keep stuff frozen not just chilled. Have to remember there's no battery, keep it plugged into something powered like a large power bank (EcoFlow/Jackery, we're looking at you). The spring-loaded handles are great idea, the springs are very strong; I tuck the corded transformer into one handle as a holder. For the size, it's not very heavy, maybe 20 pounds?, easy to carry and load into the vehicle. But this 42Qt is on the small side due to the permanently split compartments, so a larger volume will be much heavier. The feet are small rubber pads, it doesn't really slide. That would be the next improvement. This size cooler when loaded of course will be too heavy to carry, nice to add wheels or an easy way to mount to a hand truck/cart. Bottom line, for the price, form and function, I recommend this.

Affordable, works great..
This cooler worked very well. Used in our sprinter van for a trip to big bend. Keep all our drinks and food cool for the trip I suggest using their battery back up or connecting to a power station/ auxiliary battery as if sitting with no power it does warm up about 10 degrees (42 to 52)overnight if not running. Ran it with a blueitti power station and it used 30% battery in about 9 hours. Van was 80 degrees inside. Think for the value . It's a winner

Excelente Ptoducto

Works amazing!
This thing is awesome! I took it out on the boat with me and had ice cream and popsicles for the kids, couple cold ones for the old man and it ran perfectly off my second battery. Easy to use and keeps its cold extremely well. I do suggest that you put it in a shaded area to help it keep cold! It will still work in the sun, but it won’t work so hard! Great little unit. My only issue is the handles are so highly sprung, that you can’t get your hand under them!

Amazing!
I am beginning my second summer of overlanding with a BougeRV fridge and I continue to be impressed with how little power it is uses even on extended trips (sustained by solar), how reliable it is (taken many a bumpy logging road) and how great it is to have an ice cold beer in the middle of nowhere! I have a lot of outdoor gear and the fridge is one of the things I would not want to be without. Incredible value!

Great Product with great service.
There's one thing to buy a product and another thing to receive proper service. This company has surpassed any service standards without competition. Great product with even better great service. Way to go.
