Redmi Note 9S is one of the best value to performance phones around.
After much research and watching countless videos on youtube about the phone also known as the Redmi Note 9 Pro, i decided to buy the Redmi Note 9S. The Realme 6,Realme 6 Pro, Motorola G8 Plus & G8 Power were contenders, but I am happy with my choice. First let's clear up some "issues" . My phone's screen is clear and the brightness is fine in sunny weather. My screen doesn't have bleeding issues either. With regards to call quality, it is very good. Sound and speakers are all fine too. Issues with Wifi signals/apps being randomly cut-off are all due to MIUI 11 settings. The phone's software (Android 10 with MIUI 11) is very aggressive in saving power, cutting off apps and functions that it feels have been left idle. You just have to go into Android 10 developer settings to change this. The phone is large and well made, but not overly heavy. I have the 64gb model with 4GB of ram variant. The ram management is good and multitasking is easily handled. I have tested many games too and they all run fine at moderate settings. The phone is easily fast enough for the average user. Wifi/Mobile data/BlueTooth and GPS all work well and i haven't experienced any problems so far. You also get 2 sim card slots and a dedicated SD card slot. The phone DOES NOT have NFC. The amazing battery life is it's strongest point. The 5,020-mAh battery lasts over a day with ease and charge times are around 1h 20-30mins to 100%, but the first 50% is reached in around 30-35 mins, quick charge all through the USB type C port. Camera and video performance are all good too. The price of the Redmi Note 9S makes this phone one of the best value to performance phones around.

Wonderful 'phone
This new model is absolutely astonishing value for money. Very high quality build, five (yes five!) awesome cameras, latest Android. The battery life is simply unbelievable and it does everything and more that my Galaxy 9S does but at a quarter of the price. So what's not to like. Well ads; loads and loads and loads of them. They say the European model is less intrusive than the Chinese or Indian versions, but it is still very bad. Xiaomi clearly uses ads and bloatware as part of their business model. Plus their launcher, which they call Miui11 won't let you delete quite a few apps which drive you nuts with their endless ads. But this is NOT a reason to reject this phone. If the intrusive ads bother you (and they drive me mad) it is easy enough to download an alternative launcher. Microsoft has a great one (which is very well supported) from Google Play and replace the Xiaomi system apps with the vanilla Google alternatives. It only takes an hour or so then you have a stunning phone at a fraction of the price of the premium brands. If you want even more, especially a better camera, then 50 quid more gets you the pro version which holds its own against phones four times the price. However, the cameras on this model are more than enough to satisfy most users.

Mostly decent hardware downgraded by quirky software
Looks wise the redmi note 9s is great to look at its bit on the heavy side which I personally like.. full hd+ screen is pleasant to look in my experience and found it hard to kill the phone in a day with plenty of gaming and streaming.. charging is quick enough to.. downsides I found the camera a bit lackluster sometimes pictures turn out on the soft side and portraits are hit and miss and photos at night lose some detail nice to have an ultra wide cam but again pictures and colour reproduction can vary.. performance wise it's snappy but software side it can show signs of lag and stutter here and there and sometimes notifications come through late from some apps or just repeat themselves as I've found.. for the most part decent handset to use but software is like marmite either love it or hate it

Stunning value.
Had this phone a couple of weeks now and very pleased. It is fast, smooth and easy to use. Hard to find fault with it. Battery can potentially last 2 days of heavy use. The camera is very good, but obviously not as good as on flagship models from the premium brands. Wifi and cell connections are solid. Its quite a big and heavy phone, so maybe not suitable for those with small hands. Overall its stunning value for money.

Amazing phone, won't find better value
Camera is fantastic and by far the best on any budget phone I've tried, the CPU is simply unbeatable for the money and the body is great looking with a side finger print sensor that beats anything except under screen sensors. Absolutely the best budget phone money can buy, only downside is spending the first 20 minutes with your new phone removing all the pre-installed apps

Very bad phone !
The phone is useless from the start, it freezes, it doesn't respond, I have to force it to turn off. It doesn't work like it should. Waste of money and a ton of nerves for this crap. I wanted to send it back a long time ago and I've been putting it off until now. And now apparently I can't return it or ask for a refund. Very disappointed with the product.

Apps keep freezing but good hardware
Good phone for the price - software updates are really needed however as various apps stop working daily, and sometimes requires the phone to be restarted as the apps freeze and the home button becomes inaccessible. Great battery and everything else is good enough for the money

Good phone ..go for it
I bought this phone as a replacement for an absolute piece of crap so I'm easy to please ๐,but I'm really happy with it although it's only been a week so will update if anything changes, for the price you can't go wrong it's fast the battery is something else I've never seen a phone stay on 100% for so long I charged it yesterday went to work didn't have no calls because of the new number but checked it a couple of times through the day came home still on 100%. I played games watched videos downloaded lots of apps and Nintendo 64 ,Dreamcast, psp games all last night forgot to change it and it 1 pm now and it's on still on 61%. And if you're into gaming this is a must it runs emulator's great, it runs n64 Dreamcast PSP perfect it runs GameCube ok but some games not so much,it's a little powerhouse and the camera witch is very good macro shots and slow motion video great quality,I can't see why someone would pay a extra ยฃ400 on top of this price for similar specs, for 200 quid I'm happy with the purchase ,, only thing it took a week to get posted but that's not the phones fault..Tom from Cardiff ๐
