Chaka is Back
I never truly appreciated the quality of Chaka's voice and her talent in singing in a way that makes me want to sing with her. America's Got Talent, SoYou Think You Can Sing, and the many other shows like them have exposed us to lots of talented singers; but there is much more to it than just a good voice. Chaka Khan has it all.

Disservice For Chakafiles
...Or Chakaholics as some call them Warner Bros. have done the same disservice to Chaka's music that has been done to Motown artists and the Isley Brothers;reissue their music in endless compilation packages that completely gloss over their career and make them seem more popular then they were. And 'The Platinum Collection' does the same to Chaka-her best compilation is Epiphany: The Best of Chaka Khan, Vol. 1 which she hand picked the tracks for herself.Otherwise if you seriously love listening to Chaka Khan (as I do) stick with the original albums.AND GET THAT 1982 SELF TITLED ALBUM BACK OUT!!!It won a friggin' GRAMMY;put it out on a 20'th Century Masters with another bonus disk, just like Diana (Deluxe Edition) and Bad Girls recieved! And what bothers me more is that I see that only her first two solo albums, plus I Feel for You ' and The Woman I Am are still in print domestically in the US-that leaves an enormous chunk of her recorded output either as pricey import CD's and OOP nuggets. The same fate has met Rufus with classics like Street Player , Masterjam plus their 1973 debut in OOP land. Now that Motown is rectifying their policies along with the Isleys to focus on full lengh album reissues as opposed to compilations I think Chaka's people should get on the ball as well;she really deserves better then this.

Enjoyable Chaka collection
Most of the reviews here complain that this is yet another Chaka compilation and wish for WB to release a box set of rarities, B-sides, remixes, etc. Of course, I cannot argue with that - I would love to see a Chaka Khan box set, it is long overdue. And remasters of Chaka's WB catalogue would be most welcome. But this is a review for the "Platinum Collection", and overall, it does a decent job covering Chaka's WB years from 1978 to 1996. All the big hits are here: "I'm Every Woman," "Ain't Nobody," "I Feel For You," and "Through the Fire." This has a few songs which did not appear on Epiphany, including the similarly named "Love of a Lifetime" and "Love You All My Lifetime." The versions of "This is My Night" and "Eye to Eye" are from the 1989 "Remix Project" (please note this is a UK compilation, and the Remix Project was a big hit in the UK, hence why these two versions are present). My only quibbles are that there is nothing present from Chaka's 1982 self-titled album, and for some reason, "Clouds" continues to get overlooked. There are no liner notes or pictures in the insert, but the sound is good.Recommended.

Rhino & Warner Brothers Are Crazy!
'Chaka Khan - The Platinum Collection' ? Wow, just what serious 'Chakaholics' need...another collection of songs we've owned for years, and it's amazing that Rhino/Warner Brothers refuses open the vaults & release the music fans are interested in buying (the rare 'Chaka Khan' CD for example!). 'Chaka Khan' (1982) is one of Chaka's critically acclaimed (& Grammy Award Winning!) CDs, but Rhino insists on rehashing hits in a variety of packages, like this Platinum Collection for example. Shoot, Rhino / Warner Brothers is so screwed up that they even used a 25 year old picture of Chaka for the cover art, and you have to really wonder what they're smoking at the Warner Brothers Headquarters! No wonder Chaka ran away from this fu**** up company in the first place! Serious 'Chakaholics' will walk past this mess of a CD, and wait patiently for La Khan's UPCOMING Burgundy Records (Sony/BMG) debut, featuring production by Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and others! Sorry, but this so-called 'Platinum Collection' is a waste of retail space, and I can't rate it higher than 1 star. Fans have made better compilations at home!SD(fr.'Chaka's World')P.S. The Remixes included on this CD are THE SAME crappyversions on the 'Remix Project' CD from the mid 80's, sodon't even hope for something special on this 'PlatinumCollection', which SHOULD be called a Piece Of Sh**!!

She Is Somebody
Chaka Khan was at her height between 1978 - 1985 in the UK, during that period she had 4 top twenty hits. Her first hit was the disco smash I,m Every Woman which charted at #11. Discotheques across the land could be heard playing this track with its orchestrial influence. Strangely enough when remixed and re-released it reached #8. Her #1 hit I Feel For You plus Remix versions of This Is My Night #14 and Eye To Eye #16 a full eight and a half minutes worth are also here. Yvette Marie Stevens to give her her maiden name started out with the 1970,s funk band Rufus and included on this cd is my personal favourite Aint Nobody which i had on 12inch vinyl way back in 1983. The rest of the album contains 4 lesser hits in the UK from later albums but if you want to check out the artist to date try her 2007 Cd Funk This which has just given her highest Billboard chart position since 1978. How many artists will do that 29 years later with a new album. Chaka #12 1978, Funk This #15 2007 Aint nobody does it better.

Really not my kind of music.
I heard a song that she was singing on tv, it sounded great...until l got the cd, she sounded different, not like that song l heard. I don't like her, but many will.
