if my daughter’s foot is 8.5”now & I want her 2 be able 2 wear these as long as possible should I get a M or L?

You probably need to read my and a few others' reviews of this product. The problem is: this product has a lot of issues including size mess. My daughter has US5 and I ordered L (4-7) and the minimum size was far bigger than 5. So technically it's unknown which size is right for your daughter because the manufacturer doesn't respect normal size charts. I returned mine immediately.

Yes. No issues with the wheels. My grandson loves these skates. I love that the wheels light up so I can spot him quickly on the skating rink!
