MENFIRST Hair and Beard Pomade for Men - Gray Coverage

I really like this product for temporarily toning down the gray. I add tiny amount to my finger tips and work it into my hair with a little mousse or gel. I’ve also used it on my beard. A little goes a long way. This is not the ideal product to go from all white to all black, but if you want to darken the hair up a little bit or spot cover some gray it’s great. If you have salt n pepper hair and want to temporarily increase the pepper this is the product. My experience it doesn’t stain my fingers or rub off on (white) pillow cases. How natural it looks entirely depends on how much you use and how you blend it in. I can’t speak to rain or sweat haven’t used it in those conditions yet. I don’t notice any smell, it doesn’t irritate my skin or damage my hair. Go for it have some fun playing around with your look why not. If you don’t like it just wash it out.

FIRST IMPRESSION I bought this hoping for a quick, no-fuss way to cover some grays in my beard and sideburns without committing to full dye jobs. The jar looked sleek, but once I opened it, the product had a thick, almost sticky texture that didn’t feel like a quality pomade. The smell was also a bit chemical-like—not terrible, but definitely not something I enjoyed having near my face. ⸻ APPLICATION ISSUES Despite the claims of “instant coverage,” it took multiple passes to even get a noticeable difference. The paste clumps easily, especially in coarse beard hair, and tends to leave darker streaks in some spots while missing others entirely. If you’re not extremely careful, it transfers to your skin and stains your fingers—gloves are a must, though the instructions don’t mention that clearly. ⸻ PERFORMANCE While it did make some grays less noticeable, it didn’t actually blend them naturally. Instead, my beard ended up looking patchy and slightly unnatural in color, like I’d used shoe polish. Worse, the coverage didn’t last—by the end of the day, I noticed smudges on my shirt collar and even a bit on my phone screen from holding it to my face. In humid weather, forget it—it melts and runs. ⸻ QUALITY & LONGEVITY The hold as a styling paste is weak. It doesn’t keep hair in place for long, and by midday, I had flyaways again. The darkening effect fades quickly and requires constant touch-ups, which means you’ll burn through the jar in no time. For the price, I expected something that would last at least a full workday without reapplying. ⸻ VALUE FOR MONEY At this price point, it feels like you’re paying for the idea more than the execution. There are better beard and hair coloring options that actually last and don’t stain everything they touch. ⸻ PROS • Quick temporary color change (if applied perfectly) • Washes out easily with shampoo CONS • Patchy, uneven coverage • Transfers to clothing, skin, and even phone screens • Weak hold as a styling product • Short-lasting results, especially in humidity • Pricey for the performance ⸻ FINAL VERDICT MENFIRST’s Hair and Beard Pomade might sound like the perfect quick-fix for grays, but the reality is messy application, weak performance, and poor staying power. Unless you’re okay with frequent reapplication and risking stains on your clothes, I’d pass on this one.

It does what it claims -- and is a better bet than their shampoos. It's very effective. The only thing is, I want a pomade for the top of my hair and my grey is on the sides. I don't want to smear this stuff all over my hair, just use it to cover the greys on the sides.

It has too much dye in it

The product is kinda thick. I use a Q-Tip and roll it around in the paste and apply it to dry hair to where i want it or really heavy if I want to create depth. I use hair dryer and wide tooth comb to heat up the paste and pull it though my hair. The heat softens the paste and lets it spread easier. I blow dry my hair from side to side and front to back to spread coverage. on my beard I use a Q-Tip and roll it around the paste and gently brush over the areas of my beard i want to darken so i get a more darker salt and pepper look. My hair is always looking good and last through several shampoos.

Only takes a little. Don’t apply to much. I rub it really good between my hands to evenly cover both hands. Then run all over my hair to distribute. It covers all the grey hair. I close my hair about every 4 to 6 weeks, but after a week a lot of greys start to show especially around the temples. This stuff covers all that grey. It doesn’t rub off, or sweat off. It gives good texture to my hair and feels really good. No smell. It does come off in the shower. Since it doesn’t take much, the container lasts as long as normal hair pomade does. Will be using this product until I’m ready to go grey.

I don't know what I was expecting when I got this but opening the jar releases a incredibly toxic stinky odor which will stay on you all day long by the way. This product is measured in weight so as you can see by the pictures above it only takes up half of the small jar. For the price tag I definitely would not go for this. I use stuff before from the dollar store that was just as good be it was gel in a can versus pomade. It's almost as if it is a natural hair dye as your fingers and everything that touches the stuff will also turn black as well. My thought process when I wore it the first and only time was what's the point of looking good when you stink this bad. Your best bet is to get a standard pomade like bed head that has a tolerable smell and used products like toppiks colored hair thickener and of course toppiks hair building fibers. "Toppik" can get expensive so you just buy the cheaper fibers and put it in the applicator. 4x as much and 1/4th the cost. If you have plenty of hair just need the color save yourself some time and effort and use just for men and get a pleasant smelling pomade of your choice.

I’m absolutely in love with this stuff! Smells good, and works! It literally takes 2 seconds to apply as I’m stying my hair. It totally hides those random greys or for me I have a patch. Couldn’t even notice I have grey! Will definitely buy again!!

Works well

Well! I can't speak to the product it's self as I was unable to use it. The can was empty or almost. What was in the can looked like dried out paint. I'm sure it's just a manufacturing issue. I will be sending the empty can back and submit a new order. If it's simply a manufacturing issue then I wouldn't take this comment as what the product can or can't do for us old guys ;0)

It is good for your shoes not for hair. Be careful it stains your clothes, hands and sheets.
