Govee Smart LED Strip Lights, 16.4ft WiFi LED Light Strip with App and Remote Control, Works with Alexa and Google Assistant, 64 Scenes and Music Sync RGB LED Lights for Bedroom, Kitchen, TV, Party

I installed this set in my studio in the basement and it installed fairly easily and at first everything worked great. After about a week suddenly the buttons on the remote started to do random things instead of what they were supposed to do and the power button did not work. The power button on the main unit also did not work at that point and the other buttons did nothing. I contacted support and after sending them a video showing the problems they immediately offered to send me a new unit which should be arriving tomorrow. (Super- fast response and shipping) I really enjoy these lights the strips had good adhesion to the walls the brightness level was great for my purposes and the remote control, when working does a great job and has all the features that I need it to. The problems that I had were only a minor setback and because of the superior customer service I will be purchasing Govee products again. The only suggestion that I would have is that govi would include right angle, T-splicer, and splice connectors to the Box so that it would be easier to install around a window or around curves.

I just replaced the ghetto-tastic xmas lights I had under my bed with these and love them! My only complaint is that they are about one foot too short to go around the 3-sides perimeter of a queen size bed frame. How can I get an extension (and connector, and if I'm going to go that route, I'd like to get enough to cover the 4th side then too). The remote control is a bit sparse compared to other LED strip lights (missing buttons for things like "fade", "jump", other colors, etc.) but you can still get to those kinds of modes, you just have to cycle through a single button. I tried another IR remote with those buttons but sadly I don't think they're "standardized". The Android app had a bit of a glitch in setup with the Bluetooth. My BT on my Galaxy S9 could see the device fine, but the app complained it couldn't. I rebooted the phone and then it worked straight away -- so not sure the issue there (other BT devices worked fine before the reboot too FYI). Otherwise the app was simple to setup and use. And the integration with Google Home and Alexa is easy peasy too. Of note, on the Alexa skills, use the "Govee Home" skill, not the other one. This gives you direct integration such as "Alexa, turn on Bed LED" vs the other skill where you have to ask "Alexa, ask Govee to turn on Bed LED" nonsense... Not sure why they even have both skills in the store. Be sure to plan and measure as you will not get this sticky tape off again without ruining the LED strip I'm sure. That's both good and bad; my previous LEDs would be so "heavy" they would fall off and I would have to re-tape or glue them. I don't see that happening here at all. I didn't use the included clips as it's a metal bedframe, but that was a nice addition in the package. One last comment is it's unfortunate every company has to have their own apps it seems. It's getting annoying to have to install an app for a single IOT device. Since Amazon seems to be in the "Smart Life" camp, and I have several 3rd party IOT lights/switches/etc. that all work in that app, it would have been great it Govee did too. They have a great app don't get me wrong, but I'd really like to see the Smart Life app have plugins or something for these kinds of devices/manufacturers so they can leverage the ecosystem and not re-invent the proverbial wheel... Anyways, I fully recommend this LED strip. Great quality all around and the price is spot on for what you get.

I set this up in my room over a year ago and I couldn't be happier with the results. I've had this for a while but I had to take it down recently due to renovations. However, I am definitely buying these again! I had it set up with alexa and I pretty much never had to use the remote. I come in my room and tell alexa to turn it on, change the color, brightness etc. I especially loved how I can put it on a timer so it turns off after a certain time period or turns on at a certain time of the day. The app was also incredibly well made and easy to use! A ton of settings you can mess with a really simple setup. The adhesive was also good compared to some other LED's I owned. 10/10!

So I’ve been decking my house out with smart products recently and have going through a lot of reviews which is why I purchased this product. Initial thoughts: pretty good, extremely thin (both good and bad as it has a low profile and blends in well but might. It be that durable in the end or during initial handling. I got it up and running in my kitchen and it took a few minutes to get connected to my Echo. Once connected, I love how it works with my voice commands and the Alexa app but there are a few things I don’t like. The whites are WAYYYY too blue in hue, I dont think an actual color close to white is possible, everything from white to cool white is essentially blue. The next thing is that the last 3 LEDs of the strip are exceptionally blue: yellow is green, red is purple and purple is blue. And last thing is that it’s really not bright, I wanted under cabinet lighting for accents and to actually increase the visibility under my cabinets for food prep, etc. and these are not bright at all to make much of a difference. You can see this in the photos. Definitely not ideal and a little frustrating after I drilled holes through my cabinets and did a lot to mount this light strip. If you can spend more money, go with Philips Hue and get extensions, otherwise these may do the trick if you’re feeling lucky or aren’t too picky UPDATE: Govee sent me a new product that does not have the light discrepancy problems. The light output is still not superb but still pretty good. If i were going to use these again for under cabinet lights I would instead buy twice the length and double up to increase overall output but GREAT customer service! Good job Hovee

I used this for the rear of my 75" TV. Very happy with the results and the overall google assistant integration. Set up was very easy. Download the app and connect to WiFi. Google integration was just as simple as adding the existing led light to my Google home app. The colors are nice and bright and easily adjustable via the remote/app. I am partial to the app due to the sensor being mounted on the rear of my TV bracket mount. The available scenes for different colors provided in the govee app make for better tv/movie experiences. Highly recommend. Word of advice to anyone looking to set this up, the main issue will be fishing the power line through the wall if you have a wall mounted TV with cables through the wall already. Otherwise, this is more of a 10-15 mind install.

I bought a short strand for my kid's room (16.4ft). I then installed some crown molding for my living room and installed a longer strand (65ft) there. I'll be honest, I hated the look, but only because it just wasn't right for the room I was working on. I took down the crown molding and thought I'd put up the strand in my kid's room since it was longer. The adhesive was good, so, in removing it, I destroyed the strand. I thought I might order replacement strips, but they are only sold as a kit. What was Govee's solution? To send me a new 65 ft strand at no cost to me. That's pretty fantastic customer service. Ok, sure, I hadn't really benefited from the longer strand within 90 days and true, you can't hook the smaller strand to the power of the longer one (different amps), but seems to me that Govee went out of its way to make sure I (and especially my 13-year old) get to enjoy the product. As for a review: The adhesive is good, but not so strong it can't be moved a little. The strip is pretty discreet. The remote does a decent job. It's the Alexa integration and app that make this pretty terrific. The app offers a lot of color options and though many are sort of kid-friendly, including one mode based on the music (nothing wrong with that!), the level of control through the app is good. Both the 16.4 ft and 65 foot strands are easy to install and the cords are good (although I prefer the 65 foot one since the power brick is separate from the plug and therefore even easier to use than the "wall wort."). The lights are bright no matter the color. I'm sure there are many competing products out there, but this one was a good value (especially when they are on sale) and, as noted, offered really good customer service.

Second EDIT: After being in contact through email with Claire, I can honestly say that this is the single greatest company I have ever had the pleasure of working with! Their customer support is otherworldly! EDIT: I looked through the reviews to see if anyone else has the same issue I did, and someone mentioned contacting their customer service and having someone respond immediately with a replacement. I went to their website, and there's a page to request a replacement strip. I submitted the information with a video of the issue, and Claire responded within 24 hours with not only instructions on how to possibly reset the lights to make them work, but also a pledge to send out a replacement free of charge! I'm keeping my review at 3-stars for the fast response and dedication to their product, and will give it 5-stars when the replacement lights arrive. Original review: I purchased these lights with the intention of running them along the top of my ceiling in channels, and behind my desk. I cut the LEDs along the copper connectors and used 4-Pin RGB LED Light Strip Connectors to wire them where I needed. They worked very well for a few days, then one day it only shined turquoise. I cannot change the colors at all, and I can only change the brightness. It broke somewhere in the controller, which would have been an easy return had I not modified the strip. I have wired LEDs using the same method for years without incident, but I've always used an Arduino running WLED and have never used a strip with a built-in controller. The return policy specifies that the product must be new and unused, so I guess I'm just out of luck. There are plenty of reviews raving about how good this product is, so I'm sure I must have been the unlucky one who struck out. At least for a few days my room looked pretty cool!

Overall, these lights were very fun to use and have. I purchased them to use as perimeter lighting around the top edge of the walls in my music studio. Unfortunately, I ended up returning them because they became defective after about 2 weeks of use. A small segment of about 4 lights lost their blue segment of the color spectrum, which ended up causing a domino effect in the entire strip. It was very disappointing. Instead of replacing them with another LED strip, I decided to purchase smart LED bulbs to go in the ceiling light fixture, for a few reasons. First, it seemed like the chances of a replacement strip of LEDs breaking again would be high. And more importantly, the installation process for the LED strip is very substantial. The LED bulbs on the other hand, can do everything that the LED strips do, but are as easy to install as screwing in a light bulb. Summary of the LED strip installation: First, the walls need to be cleaned and prepped. This probably took the most time. You have to plan where to line up the power outlets with the LED ends. Sticking the strip to the wall went about as well as could be expected. It came off a few times during installation which required backtracking and careful handling of the exposed adhesive. Once the entire strip was up on the wall, there were no issues with adhesion and the extra adhesive materials provided made a big difference in the one problem area near the power cord. So, the installation went smoothly overall, but it was very time consuming and not worth repeating after the first set of LEDs broke. If I were to do it all over again, I would completely avoid these LED strips because they're a complete trap for time if they break. I have a feeling you'd end up replacing set after set with no end in sight. Each time the installation would take well over an hour. The exception, would be for smaller areas that are easier to reach (unlike the top of walls). Or, if the LEDs functioned correctly, then I'd be happy to say that it would be very worth the time to install them—once.
