NOTICE: The disk has English audio and subtitles. Review: Fantastic film, with brilliant extra footage and bonus content - easy 5 stars - Got it from desertcart Video for free using vouchers. Its an excellent film, and does a great job of introudcing Dr Strange to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It allows viewers to entertain the idea that the MCU isnt all just physical and science/technoligical/Cosmic, but there are other mystical worldly dimensions too. Benedict Cumberbatch is fantastic as Dr Strange - great comic timing when needed, and his accent isnt too bad. Tilda Swinton is great as the Ancient one, and Chiwetel Ejiofor is excellent as Mordo. Mads Mileksen as Kaesilius was also played well, though I would have liked to see more of him and his crew in action. Rachel McAdams also does well in her supporting role. The storyline is well written and executed, and it flows well from start to finish, with a perfect mix of action and adventure, story content, comedy and magic. The bonus content is really good as always - theres around an hour of extra content, including outtakes, and bloopers, and "how did they do that" and also a more thorough Team Thor part 2 - some of you may have seen it on Youtube, with Thor moving in with Daryl after Cap America:Civil war. This is a more complete set of scenes, with more humorous content throughout - lasts around 6 mins or so. Its a shame it didnt last longer, as Chris Hemsworth is hilarious, and the scenes are very well done, with Thor trying to fit in with normal life along with Daryl. Overall then, a fantastic film, with equally superb extra footage. An easy 5 stars, and more please!!! Review: 👍 - Good film

Great addition to MCU characters
Really liked this film. It's an excellent addition to the MCU and as an origin story stays as true as a Hollywood blockbuster can to the comics. Dr Strange is also a bit different to the usual slew of superhero films and the cast is excellent with great chemistry. The special effects are amazing too. Introducing the mystic side of the Marvel Universe, Dr Strange does not disappoint and the brilliant Mr Cumberbatch portrays the arrogant surgeon who loses his way and then heads towards enlightenment with the finesse you'd expect of an actor of his calibre. I love everything Chiwetel Ejiofor is in and Tilda Swinton, Madds Mikkelson, Benedict Wong and Rachel McAdams add class and humour. I'm hoping those of the cast that are able are given more chance to develop in later movies. It's a shame Mads villain wasn't further fleshed out though as would have been amazing to see more of the charismatic Mr Mikkelson on screen. There are in-jokes aplenty as they race to save the world from the big bad or get their comeuppance . No f-bombs or gore, which is as expected in a 12 rated movie. The end credits don't disappoint either. Great film and great cast. Good effort Scott Derrickson.

Unexpectably Enjoyable!
I mainly watched this because it features Mads Mikkelsen - who can blame a girl, right! Anyway, I'm not usually a Marvel/Superheros film fan, as I usually find them rather cheesy and over-the-top. However, this one was actually very good. It had a good storyline and good acting, also quite funny in places. So 'Dr Strange' is a thumbs up from me and I would recommend!

4K version is a treat but get in quick while its £9.99
I won't review the film itself, by now you will or will not like this film, what I will review is the 4k version, firstly there is a nice upturn in detail compared to the 1080p version as one would expect from a modern made movie but it does really feel as though this movie was made for 4k and HDR colouring as it is this that really elavates this movie head and shoulders above any previous version of this movie, is it as good or better than the 3d version... No...but this film was made with 3d in mind first and foremost in my opinion but if you have the 3d version and are wondering if you should get the 4k version to complement your collection then this is the best non 3d version to have, when you watch this alongside Antman or guardians of the galaxy ( Disney's other new 4k releases of late ), then you will see that Marvel have really put in the work on Doctor Strange where the other 2 movies I mention are well not much of an upgrade at all in truth, I must admit I didn't think much to this film when it was first released but I did enjoy this more with the added detail and colour and the sound is more powerful and more dynamic than ever before, finally while this release is being sold at £9.99 then it is worth it but if as usual Disney put this title up to 17.99 then stay away from this digital version and just get the disc, why do Disney think people would be willing to pay 17.99 for any digital version that as no menu screen or extras what so ever is behond me but at £9.99 it is just about worth paying for the 4k version

Great storyline and thoroughly enjoyable
I had never heard of Doctor Strange as a Marvel character but decided to get the film as Benedict Cumberbatch is a good actor. The film was excellent. Lots of action and fight scenes and the CGI is outstanding. Stan Lee made his usual guest appearance and I Dont think this is a spoiler but it was left with a view to Doctor Strange joining the other Marvel Hero's in future films. Well worth watching if you like Marvel films.

It so bad, word cannot quite describe the awefulness.
This film is so bad, it borders upon being compulsive viewing! The American accent Benedict Cumberbatch is really awful, I’ve not heard many Americans croak as they speak. Then, for some unknown reason the actor has sought to imbue the accent with air of English Snobbery, which really does not work at all. It, also, has rehash of the colonial British abundant prejudices and racism towards India and those famous “divide and rule”. The Nepalese Hindus, where praised and give a fictional history of spiritualism and intellectualism and then they where enlisted in military to maintain the British Raj. This film has a secret society, which has absolute no Nepalese or Indian members in it, which is quite the magic trick for this secret society. Furthermore, the principle leader happens to be many thousands of years old and a Celt, when such a community did not exist. This was the old mantra of British prejudices and racism towards India – say anyone is more ancient and better than the ancient Indian civilisations assets. The Indian history stretches back over 8,000 years, including long history of spiritualism (Gurus), education (huge University with immense libraries), pioneering research (philosophers and their schools), important discoveries like the invention of “0” unit for doing complex mathematics. Therefore, as an example, this film is neither flattering to the Americans and taints them with the same history of prejudices and racism that obsessed the British for a century. This is factually incorrect: from recollection, many Indian intellectuals went to the USA during the 20th century and successfully lobbied them for their support for the Independence of subcontinent.

A movie to pass idle moments.
I had amazon promotions credit. This was applied to my purchase and in the end I paid £0.48 for streaming this movie. My star rating is based on this price point. Had I paid the full £4.49 I think I might've given it two stars. The movie, as is expected with Marvel these days, has plenty of CGI effects that may amaze and astound you if you are looking for this sort of thing. The character chemistry between Cumberbatch and McAdams was good. Cumberbatch was required to put on an American Accent but this detracted from the experience I feel. It wasn't great. Perhaps using an American actor or someone better at American accents would've been a better choice. The pace of the movie is good. Mads Mikkelsen was good in the few scenes that he was on, perhaps an extended version of the movie will contain more of him. Tilda swinton was herself as always. Standout character for me was the red cloak of levitation, it had a personality of its own. Also the character Wong was a good support role. He should've got more screen time. The ending was a little moot. This movie most probably serves as a vessel to introduce the Doctor Strange character. So, that the Marvel universe can use him in the Infinity Wars arc.

A truly wonderful film
"Doctor Strange" is chock full of mind-bending special effects and that's great. But what makes this truly a 5-star movie, in my opinion, is the writing. The plot is interesting and the dialogue rich, combining humor with pathos in an effective script that tells a very intriguing story. Strange is a complex character who is almost unique in the superhero genre. For example: He is not a mutant nor has he been "created" in the same manner that The Hulk was through a scientific experiment that went wrong or Captain America was through a scientific experiment that went right. He is also not an "accidental superhero" who was given special powers from an external source ala Spiderman. Instead, his power lies within himself and because it does that makes Doctor Strange oddly accessible to those of us who are otherwise "ordinary" human beings. He, in essence, gives us a ray of hope, allowing us to think - even believe - that we, too, can become a superhero if we have the discipline to tap into the hidden strengths we all possess. (Few of us have that kind of discipline - I certainly don't - but that doesn't lessen the fact that Stephen Strange helps us understand that we all have the potential to be much greater than we currently are.) Director Scott Derrickson - who also co-wrote the script - did not, much to my great relief, allow himself to be seduced by the amazing CGI but, instead, used the special effects to enhance the movie while allowing his actors to not just tell the story but actually be the story. I only wish more directors did that. The cast is terrific, something that I've come to expect when Marvel movies are made. Benedict Cumberbatch is perfect in the role as the egotistical Stephen Strange but although he is nominally the star of the film his supporting cast is equally wonderful. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, and Tilda Swinton are brilliant as is Mads Mikkelsen as the villain. There are, in fact, no weak links in the cast. And that, along with Derrickson's seamless direction and some truly great writing, make this a wonderful film.
